"Be ye perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." (Matthew 5:48)
"...go, and sin no more." (John 8:11).

Is it possible to stand upright, righteous, made perfect and blameless before God? The word "conscience" is not introduced in the Word of God until the New Testament. Appropriate when before Jesus Christ, not one man was found worthy. Consider the word Convict and what "convict" means in a court of law. Now lengthen the word to Conviction:
1: the act or process of finding a person guilty of a crime especially in a court of law
2 a : a strong persuasion or belief b : the state of being convinced
3 a : the act of convincing a person of error or of compelling the admission of a truth b : the state of being convinced of error or compelled to admit the truth
Number three is my favorite. Why? Because Truth is Christ. Truth is light. Truth is freedom.

John 8:8-9
[8] And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. [9] And they which heard it , being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

...beginning at the eldest, even unto the last.

There comes a time when we realize that love is not in helping a person cover up truth but rather in exposing(manifesting) truth.

The old man is dead and so are dead works. The flesh has been tried and found guilty and crucified with Christ. We(His body) are alive unto good works: works of the Spirit and not works of the flesh(sin and death). IN us remains the testimony of Christ. Our conscience bears witness, we of His body are no longer judged by a conscience of dead works but of the conscience of Christ: life. Signifying we are His.

Hebrews 9:8-15
[8] The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: [9] Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience; [10] Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. [11] But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; [12] Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us . [13] For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: [14] How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? [15] And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Hebrews 10:2-5
[2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins. [3] But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year. [4] For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. [5] Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

Matthew 3:11-12
[11] I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: [12] Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

God the Father prepared the Son's body to be sanctified: cleansed, washed, blameless, righteous and pure and without spot or blemish before God. Purged of sin. “..saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." (Jeremiah 31:34) "Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare..." (Isaiah 42:9). "Therefore if
any man be in Christ (blameless, of a good conscience, without spot or blemish, upright before God),
he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."(2 Corinthians 5:17).

How could a man(Saul) who had committed so many offenses against the Lord in persecuting His people say: 1 Timothy 1:3 "I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;"and "Acts 23:1-2 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day. [2] And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth." and Acts 24:16 "And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men."

1 Timothy 1:4-5
[4] Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do . [5] Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

1 Timothy 1:19-20
[19] Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck: [20] Of whom is Hymenaeus and Alexander; whom I have delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

1 Timothy 3:9
[9] Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

It is said that a psychopath has no conscience. With the woman about to be stoned by her accusers, it was their own conscience that convicted them one by one before Christ. Our conscience is Christ and is why Paul was able to say, 1 Corinthians 4:3-4 "But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self. For I know nothing by myself, yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judged me is the Lord.

Is the Lord your judge? or does your own conscience judge you under the Law and condemn you to a sentence of death and offense? Many would not only refuse to extend Mercy to another, but they also withhold Mercy from themselves.

Romans 2:14-15
[14] For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: [15] Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another.

Romans 9:1-3
[1] I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, [2] That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart. [3] For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:

1 Corinthians 8:7-9
[7] Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. [8] But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse. [9] But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

1 Corinthians 8:10-11
[10] For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; [11] And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?

2 Corinthians 1:12
[12] For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience(Christ), that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you-ward.

1 Timothy 4:2-5
[2] Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; [3] Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. [4] For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: [5] For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Titus 1:14-16
[14] Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. [15] Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled(under the old man conviction (sentence) with a defiled conscience not of Christ) and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. [16] They profess that they know God; but in works(dead works) they deny him , being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

1 Peter 2:19-20
[19] For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully. [20] For what glory is it , if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it , ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

1 Peter 3:15-17
[15] But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: [16] Having a good conscience;(a testament of Christ by the holy Spirit) that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ. [17] For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.

1 Peter 3:20-21
[20] Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. [21] The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Hebrews 10:22-24
[22] Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. [23] Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised.[24] And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:

"Having therefore, brethren, boldness(with a clean conscience) to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,..." (Hebrews 10:19)
