This is from a website from a student ministry I used to be a part of. It has some thought provoking questions.

Heart Searching for Prayer and Personal Revival | Bible study
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts. And see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way” (Psa. 139:23-24).

Obedience to God is necessary for fellowship with God and revival among God’s people. Prayerfully consider the following questions. Every “yes” answer means sin in your life.

In reading these questions, as you are convicted of sin, confess it at once to God. Do not rationalize your sins. 1 John 1:9 says, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Be sure to name your sin to God, as, “Lord, I have not put You first in my plans,” or “I have neglected Your Word and prayer,” or “I am self-centered and stubborn.”

Do not make the least excuse for sin of any kind in your life. Face it head on! Proverbs 28:13 says, “He who conceals his transgressions (sins) will not prosper, but he who forsakes them will find compassion.”

Read the Scripture first, then ask the questions, and give a truthful answer: “yes” or “no”.

1. Ephesians 4:32

Is there anyone against whom you hold a grudge?

Anyone you have not forgiven? Anyone you hate?

Are there any misunderstandings that you are unwilling to forgive?

Is there any person against whom you are harboring bitterness?

Anyone you dislike to hear praised or well spoken of?

Do you allow anything to justify a wrong attitude toward another?

2. Matthew 6:33

Is there anything in which you have failed to put God first?

Is education, career, music, cars, sports, or marriage more important to you than God?

Have your decisions/choices been made after your own wisdom and selfish desires?

Do any of the following, in any way, interfere with your surrender or service to God: self-centered ambitions, computers, martial arts, selfish pleasures, family, friends, money, or job?

3. Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Timothy 4:5

Have you failed to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with others?

Have you failed to regularly and consistently witness with your mouth for the Lord Jesus?

Have you given excuses both to God and others as to why you don’t evangelize the spiritually lost?

Do you avoid learning how to effectively share the gospel with others?

4. Romans 13:8; 1 Corinthians 13:4-6

Are you secretly pleased over the misfortunes of another?

Are you secretly annoyed over the accomplishments or advancements of another?

Are you impatient with people?

Are you unkind to people?

Is there anyone you are jealous or envious of?

Is there anyone you look down upon or are prejudiced toward?

Do you fail to seek other people’s best interests according to biblical values and principles?

5. Hebrews 13:17; 1 Thessalonians 5:12

Do you fail to submit to your spiritual leaders as unto God?

Do you fail to let your spiritual leaders keep watch over your soul with joy?

Do you sometimes despise your spiritual leaders?

Do you fail to appreciate those who diligently labor among (train) you, and have charge over you in the Lord, and give you instruction (teaching)?

6. 1 Corinthians 4:2; Luke 16:10

Do you procrastinate doing or forget about assignments, projects, appointments, or responsibilities given to you?

Do people view you as unfaithful/unreliable even in the little tasks/jobs given to you?

Are you undependable, so that you cannot be trusted with responsibilities in the Lord’s work?

7. Acts 20:35; 2 Corinthians 9:7

Have you failed to support mission work either financially or materially?

Have you robbed God by not freely giving Him your time, talents, treasure, and life?

Are you selfish or stingy?

Do you mainly want to be on the receiving end of things?

8. 1 Corinthians 10:31

Do you take the credit for anything good that you do or are rather than give all the glory to God?

Do you talk about what you have done rather than what Christ has done through you?

Are your statements mostly about “I”?

Is your motivation for what you do each day that of self-centered, personal gain or pleasure?

9. Ephesians 4:28

Do you fail to return things you borrow from people?

Do you take things from your employer or other people, even little things, that aren’t yours?

Do you waste time on your job or take extra long lunch, coffee, or bathroom breaks, thereby stealing time from your employer?

Do you illegally copy copyrighted material?

10. Philippians 2:14; 1 Peter 4:9

Do you grumble and complain about the things God commands you in the Bible to do?

Do you complain about the circumstances or people that obedience to God’s commands brings into your life?

Do you have an unhelpful, negative, critical attitude toward people?

11. Ephesians 5:15-16

Do you fail to use your time wisely?

Do you listen to unprofitable/unedifying radio or music?

Do you watch worldly, unedifying TV, movies, or videos?

Do you read unworthy/unedifying magazines, newspapers, or books?

Do you partake of worldly/unedifying entertainment or amusements that distract you from spiritual things and from having your mind on the Lord?

12. Ephesians 5:20; 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Have you neglected to thank God for all things: the seemingly bad as well as the good?

Is your gratefulness based on your feelings/moods instead of on the facts, perspective, or commands of God’s Word?

Do you take the things that you have for granted and fail to thank God?

Do you worry?

13. 2 Corinthians 5:15; Romans 14:7-8

Are you living for cars, boats, homes, stereos, sports, muscles, computers, music, position, money, career, parents, marriage, or anything other than for the Lord?

Does anything or anyone mean more to you than living for, obeying, and pleasing the Lord?

Do you think you can do whatever you want with your life and not first see if it’s God’s will?

14. Colossians 3:9; Proverbs 12:22

Do you ever lie to get out of a jam or to obtain something that you want?

Do you fail to seek spiritual Christians as your best friends?

16. 1 Corinthians 16:15-16; 11:1; Philippians 4:9

Are you failing to follow/imitate a godly teacher-trainer?

Are you unteachable, not eager to learn from, or not making yourself available to a spiritual teacher-trainer?

17. 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Ephesians 4:11-13

Are you failing to spiritually build up believers (teaching, training, and helping develop Christ-like character traits in the lives of Christians)?

Are you failing to be equipped for the work of service (i.e., evangelizing the lost and building up other Christians spiritually), if you have the opportunity to do so?

18. James 4:6; Philippians 2:3-4

Do you think that you are more important as a person than others because of your race, looks, intelligence, abilities/talents, education, position, or anything else?
