I believe in God's gift of tongues that is of other men's lips to speak unto the people ( 1 Corinthians 14:20-21 ) and if manifested in the assembly, it will come with interpretation from another in that assembly ( 1 Corinthians 12:7-12 ) and it is not gained by seeking another drink of the One Spirit ( 1 Corinthians 12:13 ). I do not speak in tongues as I do not have the real God's gift of tongues.

I do not believe that God's gift of tongues is being used today when they insist they can use it for private use. More importantly, this supernatural tongue for private use is linked with a second phenomenon of what believers assume was the Holy Spirit coming over them apart from salvation bringing that kind of tongue.

What is worse is that some will get a feel for that tongue being manifested and interpret it in that manner, making a church believe they really have that real God's gift of tongues when in actuality, it is just vain and profane babbling. One church had hired a linguist to record and interpret the many languages supposedly being manifested and interpreted in that church, but found out afterwards that the interpreters were winging the tongues without interpretation.

It gets worse when those who speak in tongues claim they can interpret their own tongues when 1 Corinthians 12:7-12 says that cannot be.

From what I have seen, all modern day tongues are linked to that apostate second calling for believers to seek a baptism with the Holy Ghost apart from salvation by that sign of tongue as those who experience it are testifying to it from which some seek after and do receive.

There are those who assign that "second blessing" as a sign to when they were saved, even though they have been a believer for a long time, thus changing their testimony as to when they were saved when they got that tongue by what they believed was the Spirit of Truth.

There are those who would ascribe that second blessing as a sign of God calling them into the ministry.

Both cases for using tongues as a sign to already saved believers is opposed by 1 Corinthians 14:22

The other problem here is, that second calling or that second blessing does not stop there.

There is a book out by an author that believes there are 3 baptisms of the Holy Ghost. The person telling me about that book believes himself that there are five. Ephesians 4:4-6

Then you have believers that believe there is a continual filling of the Spirit as an ongoing phenomenon that seemingly comes with even more assumptions for what it is about. Colossians 2:5-10 & 2 Corinthians 11:1-4 & 1 John 4:1-6

There are some tongue speakers here that do not believe in those "crazy" movement of the "spirit" where people fall down and do other acts of confusion, but yet it is done by the same rudiment that they had sought the baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of tongues by. It is notable that those who defend tongues for private use do not see that as confusion when it comes without interpretation for them to understand it for that tongue to be fruitful to them as tongue speakers. 1 Corinthians 14:12-15

So I do not know how to ask for a roll call for the many different kinds of tongues speakers out there, but I will hope in Him to help me create this poll as a roll call.

At first, I had thought to just have a thread where everybody would share the points for which they identify with, but I figure the Lord will help arrange a poll for any interested in seeing where other tongue speakers in the forum are coming from.

I know that most of you know where I am coming from and you can feel free to put me on "ignore", but I do wonder if every tongue speaker in this forum knows where all the other tongue speakers are coming from on whether or not you are all really like-minded or not.

If any tongue speaker can create a better poll for modern day tongue speakers, feel free to.

I never heard of it as a second blessing, but I pray in tongues. It is a private matter and I don't pray in tongues at church or anything. It is just for God and me. I don't believe it is necessary for salvation.

I asked for confirmation that prayer language was legitimate and God gave me a dream, because I also believe in dreams in visions.

I am unsure what I think about falling down and everything. "Slain in the Spirit" is the term I heard at Teen Challenge when I went there. I didn't pray in tongues when I received Baptism of the Holy Spirit for a long time, because I was afraid it was just profane babbling if I couldn't interpret (but I would hear it in my head when I prayed at times). But I am praying for the gift of interpreting now and praying in tongues. I can tell you that since I have, my prayer life with God has gotten deeper. I am praying a lot more in English and in tongues.

I am not interested in debating this or anything, but love to hear scriptures on both sides of the matter. Thank you for this post!

And yeh, I got Baptism of the Holy Spirit 6 years after I got saved, and just this month started speaking in tongues again. I was raised up in conservative Baptist churches, so gifts of the Spirit were not teached too much.

I never heard of it as a second blessing, but I pray in tongues. It is a private matter and I don't pray in tongues at church or anything. It is just for God and me. I don't believe it is necessary for salvation.

Even though you do not believe it is necessary for salvation, FYI, some believers that speak in tongue do and thus in error. This is how tongues divide the body of believers and although you believe that tongue to be God's gift of tongues, believers use it as a sign of receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit for when they were "officially" saved and change their testimony as a saved believer to that moment that happens to them later in life as a saved believer. One has to wonder why the Spirit of Truth would allow them to continue unabated in that kind of testimony from which is why many of them believe it is true... and yet you know it is not.

So the belief that it is just for God and me has to be discerned by His words rather than by any other sign. Dreams can come from God and yet not all dreams comes from God. If one thinks about something as being on their minds when going to sleep, that can influence the dream in dreaming what you hope or want it would be.

When the Lord spoke to me when I had asked why He was not helping me in keeping my covenant of my mouth not to cuss, He said "You made the covenant. You said you were going to do it. I made the Covenant with you and I said I am going to do it. All I ask from you is to believe in Me." Now as it turns out, He led me in my Bible reading to see His words backing up what He has said: Numbers 30:2 & Ecclesiastes 5:3-7 which also talks about dreams as vanities and not just words, but also says that our vows are our works that if we do not finish it, God will destroy the works of our hands, Matthew 5:33-37 has Jesus saying why we should not make an oath let alone swear by that oath, because we can't do it when it is God's work, and Galatians 5:1,5 also speak for not making any bondage when we are to live by faith in Jesus Christ to finish His work in us; Philippians 1:6

So even for dreams or visions or supernatural phenomenon of even hearing God's voice or getting tongues without interpretation, we are to prove all things by Him and hope in Him to help us abstain from all appearances of evil.

I asked for confirmation that prayer language was legitimate and God gave me a dream, because I also believe in dreams in visions.

Ecclesiastes 5:3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words. 4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed. 5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay. 6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands? 7 For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also divers vanities: but fear thou God.

1 Thessalonians 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. 25 Brethren, pray for us.

Hebrews 5:11 Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are dull of hearing. 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

So we are to prove everything by Him by the scripture.

The problem here is that by that second phenomenon, another calling is being given to saved believers to move away from their rest in Jesus Christ since their salvation to chasing after in receiving the "other" baptism with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of tongues when there is only one hope of our calling ( Ephesians 4:4-6 ) and thus only one baptism with the Holy Ghost which can only happen at our salvation ( 2 Thessalonians 2:13-15 )

Your experience prompts other believers to seek after the Holy Spirit, because they want that closer connection with God too, in spite of the truth that He has been in us since you believed in Him at the calling of the gospel. It is that same rudiment for how those "Slain in the Spirit" occurs by addressing and praying to the Holy Ghost to come & fall on them. Since Jesus went through the trouble of exposing that extra baptism of the Holy Ghost as not of Him where people fall down ( Matthew 7:24-27 ) in regardless of the miracles by it ( Matthew 7:21-23 ) as that iniquity that is denying Him is by approaching God the Father by way of the Holy Spirit in prayer and thus it cannot be the Holy Spirit using tongues for prayer ( John 16:13 ) when He can only speak what He hears and so He cannot utter even His groanings as the KJV states in Romans 8:26-27 correctly.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Since everybody has the Holy Spirit as promised by faith in Jesus Christ, then the Holy Spirit will be making silent intercessions for every believer for why tongues is not necessary and should be discerned as not of Him because it is not necessary.

God edifies us by speaking to us for us to understand and so tongues cannot be used for private use when it has to come with interpretation for the tongue speaker to understand it as Paul said so in 1 Corinthians 14:12-15 Paul exposes those who use tongues for self edification to go to the written scripture instead in 2 Timothy 2:15-16 as he hopes God is peradventuring to recover some from that snare of the devil 2 Timothy 2:24-26 when God wants US to pray since the Holy Spirit can only make silent intercessions for us whereby the Son knows the mind of the Spirit to give the Spirit's intercessions to the Father in that way. That is how the Father knows before we ask anything in normal prayer; Matthew 6:7-8

I am not interested in debating this or anything, but love to hear scriptures on both sides of the matter. Thank you for this post!

Thank you for sharing. Those are the scriptures for you to read and see how I had applied them on one side of the matter for you to lean on Him to prove it by and while help you abstaining from all appearances of evil when the world does speak in a supernatural tongue that is vain and profane babbling ( Isaiah 8:19 ) for why no interpretation can come because it is not the real God's gift of tongues which is of other men's lips to speak unto the people ( 1 Corinthians 14:20-21 ) and tongues are not to serve as a sign for the saved believers about anything 1 Corinthians 14:22 .

One has to wonder in how sinners receives spirits again and again and again and speak in a supernatural tongue also but it is never a foreign language but just vain and profane babbling nonsense, how can God call them away from that sinful practice and that kind of tongue if believers believe the lie that they can receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost apart from salvation by that sign of tongues without interpretation? It is confusion for private use unless interpreted by another in according to His words? 1 Corinthians 12:7-12 Otherwise, those who speak in tongues and interprets their own tongues are like those who say to the body, "I have no need of you."

1 Corinthians 12:18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. 19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

And yet Paul said specifically what those manifestations of the Spirit were for; to profit the body withal dividing the manifestations among the assembly.. not for individual believers all alone.

1 Corinthians 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Thank you again for sharing. Hopefully, the Lord has led me to share the scriptures you had wanted for the one side of the matter of this discussion.

I don't believe anyone should be obsessed with this. Those who pray in tongues will continue to do so, and those who do not will continue to pray in their own languages.

One can hope that God may be peradventuring today.

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness....24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, 25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

What a word of wisdom.
I saw the heading of this Topic and thought...poor man...he just can't leave this subject alone...he really has a bee in his bonnet about it!! :D :D

Maybe the more he posts against the Holy Spirit the better he feels when he gets into bed at night!

May the Lord bless him in spite of his delusion.

Even though you do not believe it is necessary for salvation, FYI, some believers that speak in tongue do and thus in error.

My first encounter with the Lord was in an Assembly of God Church, and then I started going to a Church of God assembly, and in that Church they rely pressed that, If you didn't speak in tongue's you were not sealed, basically not completely saved, I did every thing including begging for this gift, and to this day I have never spoken in any different tongue, as described in scripture. It was kinda hurtful in a way, to feel like you were not excepted, by ether, other members, or even God, who is the Gift Giver. And when you think about it, Paul state's! that tongue's is the Least of the Gift's, So I wasn't good enough for the Least Gift of All!!!

So I agree that some time's our Church's can do more Damage than Good, with what they promote!!
Took a while to get over it, BUT I am still a believer, and that's what rely counts. AMN
PS- you did not have a place for people like me to vote!
I don't speak in tongue's Because I don't know how! LOL

Believers are not to believe every spirit but test them ( 1 John 4:1 ). By knowing the traditions taught of us as to when we had received the sanctification of the Spirit and the belief of the truth at the calling of the gospel as taught by Paul, then that is a warning against those falling away from the faith for not holding to that tradition as taught in 2 Thessalonians 2:13-15. That means by the grace of God and His help, I am testifying to the real Holy Spirit as dwelling in us since we were saved at the calling of the gospel from those other spirits being received apart from salvation as not the Holy Spirit at all ( 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 & 1 Timothy 4:1-2 )

Well at the end of the 1st paragraph in the OP, I did say that I did not have God's gift of tongues and so that was why I was not voting in the poll for modern day tongue speakers. So don't feel bad when there is no place for you to vote, because it is a poll for modern day tongue speakers.

I do thank you for sharing. It is important for others to discern by...

But since you did speak of "an encounter with the Lord" in the Assembly of God, what do you mean by that? Explain what had happened at that encounter. Did you fall backward or fell down or felt something?

Was that when you were saved or had you believed in Him long before that encounter when you had felt what you had believed was the Holy Spirit coming over you, but didn't bring tongues? Some clarification is needed, brother. Just wondering how you experience relates to the OP if at all.

Agree with you Truth. God help those who propagate such erroneous hurtful teaching. I have many friends who speak in tongues ( as do I ) and just as many friends who do not speak in tongues. Neither group are more saved than the other...and neither group are more spiritual than the other.
If I was in the congregation in that meeting or meetings where you heard that taught...I would have jumped up out of my seat and rebuked him for such wrong teaching!! ( I have been known to 'speak up' in services. )
That is one reason that I no longer attend mans "church" most of them are on ego trips.
I really hope that some mature soul came along side you at that time in your life and encouraged your heart.
For God does not look at how good or pure our doctrine is, God always looks at the intent of our heart.

Bless you...Helen

How can you say you are not on an ego trip when you testify of having experienced something that not all believers have experienced and by that experience is how you got that tongue without interpretation?

Are you not testifying ALSO that you have a closer connection or relations with God by that tongue gained by that other phenomenon?

Now who is on an ego trip? Who is being put down but every day believers for not having that extra phenomenon and that tongue by which you claim a closer relationship with God by?

I really hope that some mature soul came along side you at that time in your life and encouraged your heart.

Sometimes, wayward believers do not pay attention to the words they speak in how hurtful they are while promoting something extra in christianity.

I did not complete the poll. I seldom if ever do complete polls for a number of reasons I won't detail here.

There really are gifts that God has given and is still giving to men. In my case one of them is praying in tongues as our sister @Mayflower has already mentioned. I know that there are many false testimonies and false displays and manifestations to be found, even as there are people who search the Bible in order to find reasons to put down true believers in God and His Son. When however we have an experience with God or someone else says that they have, we should be very slow to cast it aside. We need to use all that God has given us. If we have doubts about our beliefs or experiences or gifts, then we need to check in with God carefully. If what we have is of God and we are sincere in seeking truth rather than sincere in proving our own position or belief is right, we will be standing with God in His truth.

I won't argue this with our friend @JesusIsFaithful more than I have already done, for I cannot prove to him what only God can prove. To me it is proven. This did not happen yesterday. I have been praying in tongues daily for many years. I have no doubt about my gift. Others must speak from their own experience according to what God has given to or for them.

Being able to build a case for this doctrine or that one from scripture from very opposing viewpoints is also nothing new. There is nothing new under the sun. The results that we see in part are the hundreds, nay thousands, of denominations based on the same scriptures and even the same versions and verses. I have my understanding of why that is so, but I won't go into that here.

Many years ago early in my experiences on Christian Internet forums some people questioned my testimonies and my beliefs. Trying to be honest I questioned myself and took the matter to God and also studied as if study even of the scriptures would yield an answer that would make all of my opposers change their minds. I did not try to change their minds really. I tried to confirm with God where He wanted me to be... even if it meant me changing.

Oh, over the years since I first remember meeting and talking to God in about 1949 [age 6] I have changed my mind or had my mind changed many times. In 1976 I received this gift of tongues. As I said when people expressed doubts [about 20 years ago] about my gift and my experience I went to God. What God has showed me is the need to regularly go to the lowest room with my head and hands and heart empty of any preconceived notions or doctrines. I still go back to that place regularly and while God has made some adjustments it has not been with my prayers in unknown tongues... Even those were put on the table by me to be laid aside if they were erroneous. For me they are not.

"When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.
But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest room; that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: then shalt thou have worship in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Luke 14:8-11

"And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece." Luke 9:2-3

Because we cannot understand a thing, or because our understanding says a thing is wrong or impossible, we should not quick to presume that a person with an opposing view in necessarily wrong... Consider also these verses:

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Prov 3:5-6

We don't serve God to win argument or debates. Hopefully all of us here have a better reason than that.

We are not all the same part nor are we to be the same part of the Body of Christ. Each part has its own particular function as the different parts of our natural bodies of flesh and blood have different functions. The apostle Paul writes that not everyone speaks in tongues. There is a reason for that and God is the only one who always knows it. We cannot put God in a box that we have defined.

In addition to being different parts we are also at different point along the road toward being One with God. None of us are qualified to stand in final judgment or at times even in momentary judgment of the walks of others. We can help each other and encourage each other, but we had best be careful not overstep our own function when working on or talking about another person or persons.

and by that experience is how you got that tongue without interpretation?

You presume a lot ...who said " without interpretation"? YOU!!

Are you not testifying ALSO that you have a closer connection or relations with God by that tongue gained by that other phenomenon?

NO!!

What is the matter with you...you are just raving now.
I said just the very opposite to @Truth ....

Anyone reading my post...( except you) can see I was and always will be in opposition to that line of thinking.

No believer has to be slow to cast something they had never received aside when others testify to something receiving extra by receiving what they believe was the Holy Spirit apart from salvation.

Romans 8:26-27 in the KJV testifies to the Holy Spirit making silent intercessions for every believer whereby the Son knows the mind of the Spirit for why the Father knows before we ask anything in prayer for why the Holy Spirit does not need to use God's gift of tongues for that purpose of prayer.

To make a big deal about a supernatural tongue that can never come with interpretation is enough to peer pressure any one to fake that kind of vain and profane babbling so they can fit in and belong while those who are honest are allowing the devil to condemn them for not having a closer connection with God by way of tongues for private use as well as inspire envy.

So how good is it to talk about having tongues for private use? If it causes a fellow believer to fall, should tongue speakers NOT talk about it since they believe tongues is for private use between them and God anyway? What is the point of talking about it in a forum other than to testify how they are closer to God? It certainly cannot do any good for non-tongue speaker other than for other kinds of tongue speakers to chime in to make non tongue speakers to even doubt their own salvation.

And tongue speakers do not always speak up when those kind of tongue speakers testify to that effect on other believers.

It is just amazing how leaders of christian forums just plain do not allow anyone to talk about tongues for private use, but some do argue that it is available for all and thus they cannot escape giving another calling for saved believers to chase after.

Nothing of the truth can go against scripture as no lie can be of the truth. If tongues without interpretation for private use as gained by another calling can be reproved by any part of the scripture, then sure as certain, tongue speakers are misreading His words and misapplying scripture that promotes them over the other members of the body of Christ.

"When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;
And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

But you are not doing tongues for private use in secret. You are announcing it before men and there you have your reward of exalting yourself over other believers for doing something regular average believers do not as being closer to God by.

The poll was for seeing where everybody was coming from in regards to tongues and how they got that tongue for private use, and if that phenomenon ever repeats itself after that moment when they got that tongue by other sensational signs.

It was to help each tongue speaker to discern with Him of others of their experience(s) while discerning again with Him of their own.

You believe you can continue to receive the Holy Spirit even after that second blessing of receiving tongues for private use, do you not? And you see nothing wrong with believers falling down when what you believe was the Holy Spirit coming on them again and again and again, yes or no?

We are not all the same part nor are we to be the same part of the Body of Christ.

We are only of one body of Christ and no part can say to another part that we have no need of you, but that is what tongue for private use is.

1 Corinthians 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

No extra drink of the One Spirit is required to get any gift of the Holy Spirit, but those who testify to it gets tongues for private use as meaning they are not of the body and has no need of other member of the body to interpret that tongue for them.

If you cannot see anything wrong with brother amadeus 's testimony... then I suggest you pray normally at that throne of grace for help to make sure you are not missing scripture that exposes tongues for private use as a work of darkness, let alone, believing every spirit coming over a believer has to be the Holy Spirit when He has been in us dwelling forever as promised at our salvation at the calling of the gospel when we had first believed in Jesus Christ & that God had raised Him from the dead.

1 Corinthians 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

Per Strong's Concordance;

http://www.sacrednamebible.com/kjvstrongs/index2.htm

"divers" was inserted from the Greek word "glwsswn" meaning "of uncertain affinity; the tongue; by implication, a language (specially, one naturally unacquired):--tongue."

The grouping of 3 Greek words in the blue in paralleling that verse runs as "genh glwsswn allw" with genh meaning "from ginomai - ginomai 1096; "kin" (abstract or concrete, literal or figurative, individual or collective):--born, country(-man), diversity, generation, kind(-red), nation, offspring, stock."

And the third Greek word "allw" meaning "a primary word; "else," i.e. different (in many applications):--more, one (another), (an-, some an-)other(-s, -wise)."

It is the same as saying someone will get a different kind of tongues from another country than what he is normally familiar with for why interpretation of that foreign tongue will follow in the context of that verse 10 above.

Dreams are not a spiritual gift, so your comparison is flawed. Tongues are a spiritual gift.

Your experience with 'cussing' is yours alone and cannot be transferred to Bible interpretation. Your experience doesn't prove ones experience who has the gift of tongues.

That tongues can be for just the believer is proved in Scripture. (1 Cor. 14:4) "He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself..." And there is nothing wrong with that. Where does Scripture say there is?

Scripture does say plainly, "Wherefore brethren, ...forbid not to speak with tongues." (1 Cor. 14:39)

God put the Holy Spirit in us and that is defined.

1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

You undefine it by saying you can receive Him again apart from salvation. So how can you ever claim that testimony in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 when at any moment, you seek to receive the Holy Spirit again by a sign as if He is not already in you as promised at your salvation at the calling of the gospel when you had first believed in Jesus Christ and have gotten saved by?

When wayward believers depart from speaking the same thing and the same judgment by which we were all baptized by of that one drink of the One Spirit, then yeah.. you are departing from the original body of Christ you were originally baptized into. You still have His seal, but the departure is on you because you are not the one speaking the same thing as us any more.

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord. 10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

1 Corinthians 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.
