Psalms 98:1O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. This verse comes in the psalm often known as the Orphan Psalm. It is the only psalm that begins with "A Psalm." in labeling it and is given the name in the previous sentence for this reason. Here is yet another example of God's power at work since this is an obvious reference to the then future coming of Christ:Hebrews 8:1Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;Colossians 3:1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.I think the implications of it are huge because for a very simple Psalm, only 9 verses in total, it contains a lot of information. It speaks out to us, human orphans, in our way as we seek God.

One can tell that from the rest of the psalm, but the Lord's 'right hand' could, without that context, refer to any past victory, such as this one:'The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name. Pharaoh's chariots and his army he has hurled into the sea. The best of Pharaoh's officers are drowned in the Red Sea. The deep waters have covered them; they sank to the depths like a stone. "Your right hand, O Lord, was majestic in power. Your right hand, O Lord, shattered the enemy."' Ex 15:3-6 NIV(This is possibly ironic, as right hands or arms were used in Eygptian inscriptions as symbols of pharaonic power.)I agree, it's a wonderful psalm, though. The future crucifixion and resurrection can be seen here:'The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations.' Ps 98:2 NIV'... all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.' Ps 98:3 NIVThe eventual consequence of the cross and resurrection, for the saints a future event of the greatest joy, is seen here:'Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy; let them sing before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples with equity.' Ps 98:8-9 NIVAmen.

Well I agree with what you said, but that's why you always use the clues around it. The Bible has many such lock and keys in it and this is just one a large number. In this case, it's clear that it's "the victory" and not just a reference such as the one you gave. That's the overall point of my original post.

Psalms 98:1 "O sing unto the Lord a new song; For He hath done marvellous things: His right hand, and His holy arm, hath gotten Him the victory."This new song will be sung at the return of our Lord and Savior, at the sounding of the seventh trumpet. This New Song is spoken of in Revelation 14:1-3.Revelation 14:1 "And I looked, and lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Zion, and with Him an hundred forty and four thousand, having His Father's name written in their foreheads."Revelation 14:2 "And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps:"Revelation 14:3 "And they sung as it wre a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth."At this time all of our Lord's enemies are made His footstool. They have been done away with, and are not here to deceive anyone for the thousand year Millennium period. As we read in Psalms 97, Jesus Christ will reign upon the earth at this time and the entire world, all peoples of all races will be in our Lord's kingdom. Its time is not far away from now, as many of the things of end time prophecy are history to us living in flesh bodies today. You can share in our Lord's kingdom, and answer to the summons to sing this song, all you have to do is receive His Word today, and repent and follow His ways.Psalms 98:2 "The Lord hath make known His salvation: His righteousness hath He openly shewed in the sight of the heathen."The Lord makes known His salvation through those that are faithful to His Word, in telling others of the saving grace that our Lord offers to those that will repent and follow Him. That is what your function is on this earth, to sow the seeds of truth to bring others to the saving knowledge of Christ. The time is coming shortly when righteous-ness will be shown in the sight of all the nations of the earth. God's people will be delivered up to speak, as recorded in Mark 13:11, and it will not be them that speak, but the Holy Spirit that will speak through them.Mark 13:9 "But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for My sake, for a testimony against them."Mark 13:10 "And the gospel must first be published among all nations."Mark 13:11 "But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought before-hand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost [Spirit]."Whether your physical body is saved or not, your soul is preserved to the day of redemption. The seeds of truth can only be planted by those faithful to the Holy Spirit and our heavenly Father. This message of the gospel of salvation must first be made known and presented by our mouths to all the nations of the earth, and it shall be done.It is for this sake that we are not even to premeditate what we will say when brought up before their councils and churches or synagogues, for it will be the Holy Spirit that will place the right words for that moment in our minds, and mouths. You will be a testimony to the Name of Jesus Christ.
