[19] But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power. [20] For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

What is the power?

"but what power they have. 20 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. 21 What do you prefer? Shall I come to you with a rod of discipline, or shall I come in love and with a gentle spirit?"

Compare Paul with the Corinthians in verses 8-14, who do you think is living by the power of God?

What is the power?
Authority.
The volume of words is no measure of authority neither is a recognised education. Authority calls the dead to life.

This authority...do you see it? Because Paul said he would see it in the body when he came; he would see who was vain and puffed up and full of words...or he would see power. I would have said love is the power(love of God and neighbor)since Paul said your glorying is not good when you should have mourned

Considering authority to “raise the dead”. (Resurrection life). Why did Paul tell them to put the man outside of the body for the flesh to be destroyed that the Spirit might be saved?

Luke 4:32
[32] And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.

Mark 9:1
[1] And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.

Luke 4:36
[36] And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out.

= "stop codependently enabling his sin" maybe. and since i've used the term so much i should say that of course i enable codependently still myself, sometimes; it is a fine line between that and interdependence, usually adjudged by the other's response, whether appreciative or taking for granted? Something like that?

There is no confusion between love and authority. The problem lies in our understanding of the words.

[19] But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power ( δύναμις= dunamis = supernatural power or strength). [20] For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power. What is the power?
It is the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through the apostles and giving them apostolic authority (in this context).

The word dynamite comes from dunamis, so what Paul is saying is that when he comes to deal with sinning Christians (the ones who are puffed up), there will be fireworks.
