I believe there are seven steps in receiving the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, so read out of the devotions of William Seymour and in metaphor of the Hebrew temple...

1 . Outer Gates - Faith - Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. - Romans 3:28
2. The Alter - Salvation - Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: - 1 Cor 5:7
3. The Laver - Sanctification - Conforming oneself to some righteous believers standard.
***The Inner Temple = Inner Sanctification***
4. The Table of Shewbread - The reading and meditation of God's word.
5. The Lampstand - Acquiring the proper E/c2... E (energy, motivation) / c2 (faith, hope, charity, joy)
6. The Alter of Golden Incense - Prayer and praise - It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord; - 2 Chronicles 5:13
***The veil is what divides the Inner temple from the Holy of Holies***
7. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit - The Ark of the Covenant - For sixteen years Smith Wigglesworth preached that he had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, when in fact he had received a direction of the spirit. He explains that it was though he was on the outside of the Garden of Eden looking in. But after he received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, it was as though he had regained access to the Garden of Eden, with the Holy Spirit serving as the fiery sword keeping evil out while he tasted of the good of the Lord. The anointing enabled him to regain the paradise lost so many years ago. Though his title was that of a plumber, the baptism and anointing of the Holy Ghost enabled him to launch a world wide ministry! It is the delight of God to pick up nobodies and fill them with his power!

In which, William Seymour, the architect of this doctrine issues the following warning... “Whenever the doctrine of the baptism in the Holy Ghost will only be known as the evidence of speaking in tongues, that work will be an open door for witches and spiritualist and free loveism. That work will suffer because all kinds of spirits can come in.”

In which I also post a video...

Good luck with that. You will need it. But if I was you I would look a lot harder at this chaps warning, as this is the small writing in the contract, and it's BINDING.

The revival trail... Know your spiritual heritage!

A. John Wycliffe - Got it all started when he translated the bible to English around 1350 BC.
B. John Bunyan - Continued the paths for revival with his Pilgrims Progress.
---City of Destruction - The place where faith was awakened in the Pilgrim
---The Wicket Gate - The place where he became Born Again
---The Interpreters House - The place of Sanctification - The burden falls off at the sight of the cross
---Difficulty Hill - Some people have a difficult time arriving at the Witness of The Spirit
---The Porters House - The place of the Baptism in the Holy Ghost
C. John Wesley - Broke away from complicated Sardisean doctrine with these Methods
---Justification - We are justified by faith
---Salvation - Accepting Jesus in the heart
---Sanctification - With a sweet spirit and love - Thus the launch of the Philadelphia church age
---Witness of the Spirit - Pentecostals would accept this with tongues
D. William Seymour - Continued the Wesleyan teachings with the tongues as evidence of the Witness of the Spirit

So did your "born again" experience begin, first by placing your faith in Christ and then the baptism of "holy spirit" and tongues?

Or are you one of those who required a sign, such as an infilling and speaking in tongues before you trusted, ' jesus'?

Don't take all my feelings away from me... Because it sure feels good to get a touch from him! :)

As E = mc2... So we can divide and conclude that m (mass) = E/c2(energy) ... And there are three varieties...

Natural E/c2 - Cooled plasma - Mass
Mental E/c2 - Intelligence - That which goes on between your ears
Spiritual E/c2 - Energy (Motivation, love) / c2 (faith, hope, charity, joy)

Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! - 2 Corinthians 9:15

When I experienced the Holy Spirit it was an indescribable experience. As Spiritual E/c2 is not Intelligence how does one explain it? But I will say this, spiritually I felt the same E/c2 that went into the creation of the universe when the Spirit came into my heart.

What! You stumbled over two simple questions. I think straight question(s) deserves a straight answer, don't you?

Or, are you afraid of something?

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: - 1 Corinthians 2:4

For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, ... . 2 Cor 11: 4

Though you have not answered my questions, yet have you answered. Such as those who deceive with platitude(s) of scripture to cloak their real intent.

By the way you have NOT demonstrated what Paul was referring to... . He was literally there. However you are using worldly wisdom cloaked with the skin of a sheep.

**Bottom line is. If one doesn't (talk straight) they cannot be trusted, ever. **

I have great respect for Bro William Seymour even though my own vision varies a bit from the above diagram of the Tabernacle in the Wilderness. He was a black man in a world dominated mostly by white men, even in the churches. But in his time God used him greatly in spite of or perhaps because of his low place in the eyes of so many.

From those beginnings at Azusa Street in Los Angeles and also in Topeka KS before that where women were first as well as in Wales [part of Great Britain] across the Atlantic something was being restored. Many have lost the vision seen in those places over 100 years ago... but not everyone.

Give God the glory!

They separate themselves by that extra baptism and offend those who do not speak in tongues.

Not true.
When I was a new Christian and heard people speaking in tongues I asked questions.
I received the answers.
And I started to look forward to this baptism, which I received shortly after I asked for it.
The people who are offended are the ones that don't believe in it and of course don't receive it.
Some go as far as saying "it's of the devil".

You do realize not every one that seek that "baptism" with evidence of tongues finds it, right? They believed it and did not get it.

Otherwise, you would not be having any fakers, right? No vain teaching others to babble and that gift of tongue will come, because those who teach such things only do so because they did not find it the way you did.

There is a report that some that do not receive it no matter how hard they believed, wind up believing that they were of the devil for why they did not receive that particular baptism with the Holy Ghost by that sign of tongues.

So there are more believers "offended" by it than you think.

Plus... if it was truly available to all, then all would speak in tongues. So what is wrong with this picture?

Here is a defining verse that signifies the baptism of the Holy Ghost that can only happen at our salvation.

1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

It is not water baptism since water is used to putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God which is by believing in the resurrection of Jesus Christ. So that baptism of the Holy Spirit can only happen at our salvation as it is that baptism that saves us.

Hold your horses there pardner.

There is quite the misunderstanding about the baptism in the Spirit.

I personally don't use this way of saying it for some obvious reasons...being that we don't just have one filling of the Holy Spirit in our lives. At least I hope not!

When we abide in Christ we are filled to overflowing with the Spirit.

Do we always abide in Christ?........... No, not unless we are fully mature and have attained the full stature of Christ.

So we go in and out of the Spirit. Unless we never go in, that is..then everything seems always the same.

So then they who have experienced going in and out...can we call each new filling of the Spirit..a baptism?

Baptism is the first time.

So I prefer the terms...abiding in Christ...putting on Christ...putting on the new man....putting on the whole armour of God.... putting on the armour of light...or just being IN the Spirit. All of these expressions are saying the same thing.

We put on Christ as a further work of grace...after (although for some it is simultaneous) we have received a new regenerated heart. So then to begin our walk...Christ is in us. But we must then also seek to be IN Christ...to go where He is. So we seek His kingdom where HIS righteousness is found...and it is found in no other place. IN Him.

If we look at this verse from Rev.

Rev. 1:10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,

Why does John say this? Many people think they are always in the Spirit due to faulty teaching. But John obviously was not always in the Spirit. Otherwise he wouldn't make the distinction.

We go in and out of the Spirit.

Jesus said...

John 10: 9 "I am the door; if anyone enters through Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

If we enter into Christ we go in...but only the fully mature in Christ can remain...abide there. So then our Christian walk is to seek His kingdom and to abide in the Spirit and remain there as long as our faith/faithfulness allows. Then we go out when we stumble so we can learn more about Him and about ourselves. So we are adding to the initial work of Christ through relationship and discipleship from the Lord. We are learning to grow into Christ in character and love.

Sure, His love is there in the Spirit...as it is the fruit of the Spirit. But we must also come to the place of a mature love in character. So then going in and out of the Spirit is like breathing...it is a living process of becoming more like Him. Or, we could say that we are being fashioned as with a blacksmith's hammer. The going in and out is like blows on hot metal that fashion us into the likeness of Christ.

Finally after going in and out of the Spirit...on that day...we will go out no more.

Rev. 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Once we have finished our cycle of fashioning into Christ's likeness...then we no longer need any training....we no longer need go out...we are now like Him

IN Him.

Excellent.

But sadly I doubt that he will hear you, any more than he has heard any of us! :(
