(Two;44133)
So basically what your saying is the New Covenant is a Christian deal? From research it looks as though G-d gave the New Covenant to strengthen the Mosaic one but the Mosiac Covenant has not been replaced neither in the Old Testament or the New One reason I say this the Ten Commandants are repeated through out the New Testament by the Apostles.
The covenant given to Moses and the people of Israel required obedience to the Old Testament Mosaic law. Because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), the law required that people perform rituals and sacrifices in order to atone for their sins. God gave his people this covenant as a foreshadow of the one that was to come. The sacrifices the people of Israel made had to be made over and over again, because the sacrifice of the animals was not sufficient to make atonement for all people for all time. The system was only meant to be a reflection of that which was to come. The prophet Jeremiah predicted that there would be a time when God would make a new covenant with the nation of Israel."'The day will come,' says the Lord, 'when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah . . . . But this is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day,' says the Lord. 'I will put my law in their minds, and I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people" (Jeremiah 31:31,33). Jesus Christ came to fulfil the law of Moses (Matthew 5:17) and create a new covenant between God and His people. In Luke 4 beginning at verse 16 we read of Jesus going into the synagogue in Nazareth at the beginning of his ministry and reads from the scroll of Isaiah:"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favour." (Luke 4:18-19, compare with Isaiah 61:1,2)He then boldly claims "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing." Luke 4:21Jesus is the Messiah spoken of by Isaiah. Jesus was 100% man and 100% God. Jesus lived a life in total obedience to God. He never sinned. On the night before he died (Passover) Jesus shared the Passover meal with his disciples. Luke 22:20 says, "After supper, [Jesus] took another cup of wine and said, 'This wine is the token of God's new covenant to save you – an agreement sealed with the blood I will pour out for you.'"On the cross he took the sins of all of us upon himself and died the death that was ours. While the animal sacrifices were insufficient and had to be made over and over again, the death Jesus died was 100% sufficient - once, for all. Through the blood of Jesus our sins are washed clean. The old covenant was written in stone, and was only a reflection of what was to come. In the Old Testament we read about only certain people having the Holy Spirit and only at certain times. But the new covenant is written on our hearts, made possible only by faith in Christ, who shed His own blood to atone for the sins of the world. Now that we are under the new covenant, we are not under the penalty of the law. We are now given the opportunity to receive salvation as a free gift, not as a reward for any of our good works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Through the life-giving Holy Spirit who lives in all believers all the time (Romans 8:9-11), we can now share in the inheritance of Christ and enjoy a permanent, unbroken relationship with God. Hebrews 9:15 declares, “For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that He has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.”
