I'm especially talking about people of authority, people that you are supposed to listen to and respect. My band directors can be extremely rude. Sometimes, to the point of really offending people and being incredibly disrespectful. While I was taught that to get respect you have to give it, I think they forget this many times a day. Plus, knowing that we can't really say anything sort of fuels them and powers them up.I try my hardest to grit my teeth, pray to God, and seek knowledge in understanding why they are this way, but those things don't seem to help in the heat of the moment when I am literally being verbally attacked and can't say anything.I also know that Jesus would let it roll of his back. How can I do that? Is there any prayer I can say to calm me and help me to be patient and not easily angered?Thank you for your help.

It says something about turning you cheek, and let them hit the other one I forget the verse. So even though they offend you,let them again take this to show your love for Jesus,if it gets worse and he continues being rude I would bring it to his attention *band director*,if he simply shrugs that off his shoulder get you Principle or your mom. Watch your tongue it is the most powerful thing. There is no specific prayer, just pray to God and tell him what you are feeling, usually praying helps me no matter what

It helps me to pray for the person insulting me, ask God to forgive them. Pray that in the future they will be able to control themselves and act in a christian manner. Just pray for them in general, its hard to be mad at someone when your praying for them.

Hi its_victoria08,These words I have pasted here are part of your Post that I would like to respond to:"I try my hardest to grit my teeth, pray to God, and seek knowledge in understanding why they are this way, but those things don't seem to help in the heat of the moment when I am literally being verbally attacked and can't say anything."You are a Christian and that means that your actions demonstrate that fact. You do not behave the way your band directors do.John 15:18-19, "If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you."Here Jesus explains why people act the way they do in worldly ways. The Bible shows us in many places how we are to react to being mistreated (persecuted).Read through Romans 12:14-21. I'll quote part of it here:Romans 12:14, "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them." And verse 19, "Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.' "And this is another beautiful Word from God: Philippians 4:6-7, "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."I will join you in prayer today about your situation.waynemlj
