What's a good Bible study program? I know most of the stories of the Bible due to going to a Christian elementary and High School, but I don't know my Bible that well. Some people say to read and study from beginning to end, and others say to begin in the New Testament and then go back to the Old Testament. What's a good way to read and study? For now I've been Trying to memorize special and important passages and verses on note cards. I don't want to one who just reads the Bible but doesn't get a better understanding and truly know it.
You don't need to memorize the Bible, all you need to do is read. Quoting the Bible to othersshould be a spontaneous thing, as it is not you but the Holy Spirit within you who is doing it.If you have forgotten a verse, what you can do is search for it using a Bible program such ase-sword,
http://www.e-sword.net/ or do an online Bible search. Memorization by verse is not biblical,The apostles would quote the words of our Lord and the prophets, but they did not specify the verse. It is the Holy Spirit who would bring into our remembrance the words of our Lord, and it is theHoly Spirit who would reveal to us verses that are difficult at the proper time. Read the New Testamentfirst."And Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, just as it is written,'Fear not, daughter of Zion;behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!'His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him." John 12:14-16 (ESV)"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name,he will teach you all things and bring to your remembranceall that I have said to you." John 14:26 (ESV)"When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come." John 16:13 (ESV)
