Luke 18:31 Then he took unto him the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.

18:32 For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:

18:33 And they shall scourge him, and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.

18:34 And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

It can be seen in verse 34 that the apostles had no understanding of the blood sacrifice and resurrection that Jesus was facing.

It is evident that there is not just one gospel.

It is only logical to uphold that the gospel they were presenting was not the same gospel Paul was preaching.

They were preaching the gospel that Jesus is the Son of God.

Mark 1:1 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God;

They were preaching the gospel of the coming of the kingdom on earth.

Mark 1:14 Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

The gospel that Paul preaches is our gospel for today. This is the gospel by which we are saved.

15:1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

15:3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

15:4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

1 Corinthians 15

We are all sinners who can not save ourselves.

Christ died for our sins; He was our substitute, He paid the full penalty and debt for our sin by his blood sacrifice.

He was buried.

He rose again for our justification ( to declare us righteous) and forgiveness of all our sin. He gives us His righteousness and eternal life.

All we have to do is believe the gospel.

Believing is being persuaded that something is true.

The moment you believe you have eternal life.

Trust the gospel of your salvation. Place your faith in Jesus Christ, in his blood, his death and his resurrection.

You referred to Luke 18. Now you should go to Luke 24 FOR THE REST OF THE STORY.

Before the Lord ascended back to Heaven, He revealed all that was written about Him and the Gospel to His apostles. So chapter 18 is BEFORE the resurrection of Christ, whereas chapter 24 is BEFORE the ascension of Christ.

LUKE 24 -- THERE IS ONLY ONE GOSPEL
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

48 And ye are witnesses of these things.

49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

That seems right....but only "seems" so. The knowledge about the gospel is not the same as having new life. Believing that something is true is a good start. But if it's true then we can knock, ask and seek...until we are given power from heaven. That is the kind of faith that saves. It is a 2 step process.

Our faith needs to connect up with HIS faith so that we are now operating on a spiritual level. God translates us into His kingdom by shifting us into the dimension He is living in where there is a perpetual love, joy and peace. It is a place of power. But we need to be approved by having a certain kind of faith...a faith that moves God.

So then we believe into where Jesus lived from....in order to walk as He walked...and be holy as He is.

The problem lies with how we interpret certain biblical words...reducing them to what men can do in their own strength...and leaving it there.

God's power has to kick in for there to have any spiritual reality.

There is ONE gospel....about a spiritual kingdom where we can live where God is in His presence. There, there is power....the power of a new life that is in the same anointing authority as the life of Jesus....since it is IN Him.

There was a gospel (good news) to Israel that the promised kingdom was at hand (because Jesus was the kingdom). That gospel has been put aside, because of unbelief, until the age of the Gentiles is completed.

During the age of the Gentiles there is another gospel (good news) and it is a gospel of God's grace where He (GOD) has let His Son pay the price for ALL of the sins of the world..

Both the gospel of the promised kingdom and the gospel of grace require that a person believe in them. As we see by history the Jews in Israel did not believe Jesus was their Messiah and King even though He accomplished many signs. They committed the sin of unbelief.

Today if a person does not believe Jesus' shed blood on the cross has paid for ALL their sins then they are also committing the sin of unbelief.

Contrary to the belief's of some God knows those that place their belief, faith, trust, and confidence in what He says in the time He says it. It is not for a person to have to prove anything to God. It is those that God give His righteousness too.

No Son of Man may die for another's sins; the soul that sins will die
You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.

"H. Richard, post: 439125, member: 6940"]There was a gospel (good news) to Israel that the promised kingdom was at hand (because Jesus was the kingdom). That gospel has been put aside, because of unbelief, until the age of the Gentiles is completed.

Actually this is error. It is called Dispensationalism and it is a human way to explain what happened without the Spirit. The kingdom of God is spiritual and NOT of this world. You may have to ponder that. There was at NO time a risk of the kingdom becoming a physical thing. When the mob would have made Him king...He withdrew Himself. The kingdom of God does not come with observation (senses). It isn't a physical thing. It is a spiritual realm. Paul preached the same gospel as Jesus...the gospel of the kingdom. It takes God's grace to get there. Very few will be able to enter in....as Jesus said.

The kingdom of God will have come when God's will is done on the earth....just like in the prayer.

Again error...we have to prove our faith/faithfulness. An unstable man gets nothing from the Lord.

It is the resurrection of Jesus that changes everything. He is risen. That means He is available and able to give us His power to do as He did. We are not to try being so good that we can be sinless on our own. We are sinless only by entering into Christ...where there is no sin at all.

He just denied that, and also contradicted the Bible. Here is what he said:
"No Son of Man may die for another's sins".

This is a denial and rejection of the finished work of Christ.

People die for the sins of others all the time. Jesus got entangled in the affairs of men and paid the price for our sinfulness. But then He transcended that act of cruelty and turned it around that we might have shame for our actions. We have let our self-interest get way out of control...even putting the Son of God to death in our quest for what we deem as peace. And yet Jesus offers us His peace...to now come join Him in the sufferings of they who stand against the ways of this world.

yup, from our pov. Curious how you would address the passage tho
Jesus got entangled in the affairs of men and paid the price for our sinfulness.
so you say, yes

but wadr the folks @ "Jesus did not die for your sins" are not trying to lead one away from Christ, at least none on pg1 that i can see; even the ones that do not include not, i guess, God bless 'em :)

but there are obv serious probs with the pov, no one took Jesus' life, He gave it, if you sin you still die, be perfect as I am perfect, God did not require blood for sins as we are usually taught, etc

It isn't blood so much....it is life. A life for a life. The life is in the blood. Drink in His blood...His life. That is the gospel. We give up a life to take on a life. The exchanged life. The sacrificial system was this as well. A life for a life. So then to offer ourselves as a living sacrifice we give up our lives.....to take on His.

a great illustration imo, the point being that at no time did anyone drink anyone else's literal blood, the point was always "eat, drink, and breathe" Christ, Christ should consume you, so to speak, as opposed to a 3 minute ritual done as oft as you gather, 3x a year, or even once a week, which btw i still...do one of those myself, doesn't really matter which one i guess. Not saying that the ritual is meaningless, but that is has hollowed out the truth

So how are you doing with the "living sacrifice" part of the bargain?
