Regarding the Holy Spirit and His gifts I believe...

  • Welcome to Christian Forums, a Christian Forum that recognizes that all Christians are a work in progress.

    You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

    We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

Rearding the baptism of the Holy Spirit, spiritual gifts and some other things I believe;

  • 1. Yes, I know this is for today and all gifts including tongues, are yet given to believers.

  • 2. There is no secondary experience from God once you truly become a Christian.

  • 3. Those who speak in tongues are completely deceived, this is not from God at all.

  • 4. Spiritual gifts, including tongues passed away after the time of the apostles ended

  • 5. Those lacking baptism in the Holy Spirit lack God's anointing and power

  • 6. My denominations teaching on this is true. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is not for now.

  • 7. Jesus no longer speaks directly to believers, only through the scripture

  • 8. Miracles of healing are not for today, modern medicine and doctors are our means of healing

  • 9. Much of the bible is allegorical and never really happened.

  • 10. I am a Christian but Jesus Christ is not God Almighty

I would do better, I would not only pray for healing, I would teach the person how to live in good health according to God's word.

So, you do believe in prayer for the sick and expect healing after all.

How to live in good health is a different story.
But I guess only 7th Day Adventists are the experts on that one.
I'm out of here.
Not wasting more time on this thread talking to somebody who specially came here to grieve the Holy Spirit.

And is arrogant on top of THAT.

This is correct. Neither did Phillip.

Well I must Disagree! you have what you believe, and that's all good for you. But I believe that the time will come when what you believe will be refuted by the very power of God and Savior, through the Holy Spirit, and these Gift's will resurface into reality, for God and Savior are not going to lie, when he said that you, his believer's would do Greater Sign's than these! Not just the Apostles! IMO!

Paul said they would expire and and they did along with the apostles who distributed them.

Your turn Will come. You will have a desperate need that is outside the beliefs of that church you go to. Then you will ask God for the things you now deny. Job said it first.

Job 6:7 KJVS
The things that my soul refused to touch are as my sorrowful meat.

Job 4:5 KJVS
But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.

Denominationalism denies the continuance of God by denying His eternal gifts. Have you never read Ecclesiastes 3:14? Do you think it a coincidence that the mathematical constant PI, 3.14 about, which cannot be changed, heads the verse that states God does not change?

I feel for you because you have swallowed tradition and doctrine and spat out truth. You have swallowed the camel.

Pity for the powerless who throw the man's creation, denominations and traditions, in the face of God.

You will never have any power with God until you submit to His Holy Spirit and shake off the teaching of dead religion.

This is why I consider myself as belonging to Church Without Religion...don't leave the forum Frank, I think we all feel like doing that at times, I know I have. I even tried...only lasted like, a couple hours :D. Then, I remembered that that were enough folks on here that I would just plain miss too much ♥

Faith is the coin of heaven's realm.

Once drove fifty miles on an empty gas tank. Faith was all I had to spend. I praised the car to work. Every time my praise fell off the car would start coughing and missing. I increased my praise and it smoothed out. God took me.

He honors praise but it will make the flesh very uncomfortable.

Yes years ago my Wife and I were flush, broke, we had nada deneros, and I new my pickup. when it showed empty, it was done, I don't remember how many mile's we went, But it was by the Grace of God that we reached our destination!

Amos is my testimony.

Amos 7:14-15 KJVS
Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit:
[15] And the Lord took me as I followed the flock, and the Lord said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel.

God takes spiritual dummys like me so that He doesn't have to whittle away years of religious denominational dogma, tradition and indoctrination. It's much easier to fill an empty vessel that to have to scrub out one that has been filled with denominational corruption.

Many do cleave to the part of the gospel concerning the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. But there they stop. Then they deny continuing Pentecost, the infilling/baptism of the Holy Spirit and all His gifts.

Have you ever heard that a half truth was a whole lie? They close the Bible after believing in the basics of repentance and salvation. They get part of what God provided.

The Lord has really laid on my heart this past year the evils of man's creations...eg., denominational religion. They join these churches and are taught all the things that God no longer does. They seem to be more glad to belong to that denomination than to be saved... If they are. Churches are filled weekly with many that have never ever been born again. Many many pastors are unsaved.

I've been saved for certain and born of the spirit, then a little later baptized in the Holy Spirit, for over forty years. In that time I've heard every argument against the baptism of the Holy Spirit that dead dead dead denominations can make.

Just a few denominational concoctions;

1. The gifts died out when the apostles died out. Scriptures please? Unh Unh unh! No twisting scriptures please.

2. The day of Pentecost was a one time experience and such happenings are not for today.

3. The gifts of the spirit are not needed today. REALLY? Man's fleshly intellect has progressed to the point that the supernatural gifts of God are to take backseat and are inferior to man's reasoning?

4. Tongues are not for today. Tongues are of the devil. Tongues are gibberish. REALLY? Tell me why Paul said do not forbid to speak with tongues? I'll tell you why. Satan was already moving in people to deny this powerful gift of intercession and spiritual edification. The denominations have take Satan's torch in casting down the very word, gifts and callings of the promised Holy Spirit.

5. Miracles of healing are not needed today. We have doctors and modern medical science. REALLY? Wait unto you or a loved one comes down with an incurable disease and doctors tell you there is no hope. You'll fall on your face, throw those denominational lies out the window and begin to plead to God for the things you and your denomination swore were no longer true. Better to believe God now and give Him His rightful place.

6. Speaking with new tongues means you've stopped cussing. I've heard this one from a Baptist coworker. Pretty lame.

Although I don't go into it or mention it at every anti Holy Spirit rant, I can always smell the stench of denominational indoctrination.

When the sons of God come together to worship and fellowship the agents of Satan show up too. There are those that post on this site that are not Christians even though they spout scriptures galore. I've had Jehovah's witnesses quote scriptures to me but they were far far from being born again Christians.

They are planted here to disrupt. To drive away those that have pure hearts before God and only want to lift up other real believers and be lifted up themselves by our common faith. For those of you that are Christians indeed, baptized in the Holy Spirit and have received of His indescribably wonderful. Anointing and gifts renember;

Beware of the dogs, beware of the evil workers, beware of the false circumcision; for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus and put no confidence in the flesh,
Philippians 3:2‭-‬3 NASB

Jesus' biggest battles as He walked here in the body of a man were against traditional religion. The Jews had taken the law of Moses and extrapolated it into hundreds of rules and regulations that drove multitudes away from God.

We now stand in the stead of Jesus. To lead the blind out of darkness and preach salvation and to pull down denominational religion that denies the gifts and calling of God.

They substitute men's programs for the anointing. Evangelism explosion for the leading of the Holy Spirit. God does not need idea men. He needs yielded vessels that will listen in prayer.

Any denominational organization no matter how large or influential has no right to defy God's words, Holy Spirit, or gifts of the spirit. They try to tell us we have not seen what we have seen. Yet as the apostles we can only speak of what we have seen and heard in light of every scripture.

If any fight against these things they fight against God. Gamaliel in Acts chapter 5 said it first;

Acts 5:38-39 KJVS
And now I say unto you, Refrain from these men, and let them alone: for if this counsel or this work be of men, it will come to nought: [39] But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.

I've walked with God over 40 years and the wonderful gift of the Holy Spirit and His critical gifts have been part of this journey.

Healings, deliverances, salvations, provisions, encouragements, chastenings, guidances, anontings, biblical insights, favor, helps and unnameable others have been part and parcel of the wonderfully indescribable joy of the Holy Spirit of the living God administered by the son of God Jesus Christ, that one anointed with the office of creator and our redeemer.

Let us who believe the full gospel stand in the light we've been given and not shrink back from the liberal denominational Pharisees that trust in their seminarian teachers and do not seek God for themselves.

Every one of the denominational believers fall silent when asked this one question. What does the Holy Spirit and Jesus say to you about these things?

Until you are baptized in the Holy Spirit and have received the gift of tongues and whatever others He decides to give, your spiritual eyes are blind and your spiritual ears are plugged.

Those that have denied must repent for their scoffing and call out to God for forgiveness and for Him to fill them with the Holy Spirit and give them the always accompanying gift of tongues. Other gifts will be administered as they are required in your walk.

Praise God for some really good posts here...from those who know God and have seen His hand supernaturally move in their lives.
As did so many OT saints like Elijah and NT saints as Paul...as he shook of the snake into the fire.

There has been some 'burning of the snake' going on here today! ✟

Faith has been restored ...Glory to to Lord who IS the same yesterday ..today, and forever..

I read Frank's post from the quote. Good stuff to think about since I have begun having doubts again. The doctrine I was taught is good foundation, but I always want to grow closer to God and seek out what His Word says for myself. Sometimes it is hard to know what God is telling me when so many I love that do follow Christ warn me of a certain way. And tongues are one of those topics. I want to make sure I am basing things off the Bible alone. Because since I don't know what I am saying in tongues, and can see the scriptures both ways now...it is hard to decide. I stopped praying with them again until I know for sure. I do believe in all the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Just with tongues, I don't know which way. I don't feel as if though talking in tongues is as important as being empowered by the Holy Spirit. Tongues is just evidence. But praying in tongues isn't what empowers...I keep going back and forth and don't like middle ground. I got to go back and read now after this post.

I want to worship God in
I get faith is the fruit of the Spirit. We can do nothing without Him. But pastor, teacher is also temporal and passing away. 1 Corinthians 13:1-12
[1] Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. [2] And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not (love which is Christ)charity, I am nothing. [3] And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor , and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing. [4] Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, [5] Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; [6] Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; [7] Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. [8] Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. [9] For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. [10] But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. [11] When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. [12] For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

“...knowledge, it shall vanish away.” With prophecies and tongues. Will we need healing once the temporal tent(the corruptible puts on the incorruptible...will we not be whole. As far as anointing goes: was not the head of the body anointed and would that anointing not cover the entire body. To say we have no need of a part of the body ...to operate and edify as a whole?

As you notice above: you can have faith to move mountains and still not have charity(Christ).

Love is the greatest gift a Christian can have. I pray over all else that I can love deeper as Christ loves me. When I hear tongues in my head when I pray, I notice it is when my heart is filled with praise and thanksgiving. Very rarely is it when I am sad that I hear the prayer in my head. Does this mean anything?

Dear Mayflower

I fully believe that your doubts were planted from some denominational teaching. Steep yourself in the Bible and in prayer.

Eliminate commentary books, films, videos and the like. Get with God and seek Him alone. Do not ask for the opinions of other church goers for they will supply many opinions, most of them filled with religion that denies scripture.

Seek the face of God praying in the spirit with silent listening periods. Believe only the good things you hear in your spirit. Cast aside any doubts that are disagreeing with the words of God.

I've actually seen those that would want to consult their good Doctor of divinity rather than the spirit of God. Do not be turned aside by the ones that deny God's very word. Do not be double minded. In singleness of your belief in God's word alone you will find peace and be settled in your spirit.

Do not be of the group;

Matthew 28:17 KJVS
And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

But be of those;

John 20:27 KJVS
Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

I have often faltered in my walk every time I began to look at myself. Also times as on this site when I tire and grow weary of the naysayers. The ones who are Satan's agents trying to kill, wound and scatter the flock of God's people. They don't even realize they are destroyers because they are deceived. But by His grace I stand and by His grace so shall you if you will seek Him with all of your strength, heart, soul and mind.

See what Jesus has to say to you. He promised His sheep would know His voice.

I just want to be a sheep.

More on the help and gifts of the Holy Spirit. He will guide you in your life's work.

What education I have is largely self taught but have the equivalent of a couple of years of college with additional correspondence study in structural engineering basics and a degree from a technical school in machine shop work. I said all that to say this.

Jesus is our wisdom and He will supply ideas, guidance and shrewd insight to every problem in every aspect of your life.

I used to chuckle to myself at meetings where I was the only one without at the least a BSME. God told me to go into business for my myself so I did furnishing consulting and design services to industry at large. Primarily the forest products industry which I loved.

Whatever your profession seek the wisdom of God through His Holy Spirit. One of my favorite scriptures as a designer is;

Proverbs 8:12 KJVS
I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

This is the only instance in the Bible that the word witty is used.

I could relate scores of times that the Holy Spirit showed me how to design a particularly difficult machine or system. All glory to God! I give Him all credit, praise a DC thanks pointing out I am only a needy receiver thankfully taking what He gives and gratefully putting it to use.

In your work seek His face.

My dear departed uncle Douglas Franklin Jennings was a Christian from the time of a teenager. He became an engineer with the FAA after many years as a tech in the air force. He had top security clearance and visited area 51. Not everyone gets to dink around at area 51!

He was a trouble shooter's trouble shooter. When they called for him it was a unique problem. They would send him to Korea or alaska for a month to help solve their radar or controls issues. He always gave God the glory. He told me he never worked on any problem for long time efore entering into prayer as to what the v problem was and how to correct it.

When I called Doug, named after Douglas MacAuthur and Franklin Roosevelt, to tell him I'd been saved he said "I know" before I could tell him what I was calling for.

Whatever your problem talk it over with Jesus and let the Holy Spirit throw in with you. God sent Him as our God given helper, wisdom, guide and strength.

Pray in the spirit awhile and then ask the Lord to give you the interpretation. Get a pad of paper and pen and write what words come into your spirit. God is wanting you to learn and grow in your faith. You don't need an interpreter for this. He, will tell you!

I still have the words He gave me when He told me my wife was with child.
