If we consider what it truly means to be a disciple…one who patterns their life after that of the Master…and if we consider the Torah observant life that our Master lived as the spotless Lamb of God…the “great commission” should suddenly take on a new meaning for many of us. Listen closely to what Jesus said…“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations (gentiles)…teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you…Matthew 28:19-20 What did Jesus teach and observe perfectly? The Torah. He said in Matthew 4:4 (quoting from Torah) It is written ‘Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” Thus anyone desiring to be a Disciple of Jesus has been given direct marching orders from the Master to teach all people to observe God’s Commandments…to walk in Torah just as He did. Agreed. This is probably the verse I cite most common, but I think so many people skip over it and much of the entire chapter because it's all about this very subject.Matthew 5:17-18
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Jot being iota, referencing our English period(.). Nothing has changed, Christ is the sacrifice, but we are accountable for our actions breaking the law of God given in the OT and following his commandments. Afterall, what was he talking about when he said:Matthew 5:19
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Christ is the Word - the WHOLE Word - made flesh (John 1). We need the New and Old Testaments as Christians.

Amen Denver...Paul said that "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in rightesouness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2Timothy 3:16James said to be "doers of the Word, not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." James 1:22Interestingly encough...there was no New Testament when these statements were made...only Torah. Shabbat Shalom....Newcolors

They had the entire Tanakh then right? I read the Torah for the second time, I still like all the laws and such great stories of how God is so powerful.

Mikey...Yes...that is right. The bible Jesus taught from was the Tanakh. All of the Tanach speaks of Messiah thru those awesome stories. This is what He meant when He spoke of fulfilling all the Scriptures. For example....Noah' Ark...think of Jesus as I tell the story...There is judgement coming...there is only one way thru that judgment....you need to be safely in the ark when it begins to rain...only God can shut the door and after God shuts the door it will be too late for those outside the ark...those in the ark however, will pass safely thru the judgement...they see a brand new world, a "new beginning"....and God will make a "new covenant" with them at that time.(remember the rainbow?)It changes everything when you begin to see Messiah in Scripture.
