I find it a little odd that on a christian forum with regular bible discussion I have never seen the question go around as to what everyone's favorite bible verses are. Well I am puttin it to yall! My favorite bible verse is Psalms 63:1"O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water." ~Psalms 63:1

Actually, there was such a thread, but I don't remember if it was here or on another forum. Anyway, here's mine:Numbers 23:19: God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?If you acted on a promise he said, then this should erase ALL doubt. I dedicate this verse to the Christian brothers and sisters that need assurance that they are saved (we all sometimes worry about that). In its true context, this has to do with the promises to Israel, but the application is uniform in everything God says.

Psalms 63:1 is my favorite verse because I believe it to be the ideal mind-set for a christian. And it is something to always work towards. To desire God more than you desire the sustanance to live.

My favorite is Rev 19:11-16 11And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

For anyone who doesn't feel like clicking, Revelations 3:20 goes a little something like this: 20Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Any particular reason that is your favorite verse duke?

. Thanks for knocking at me Justin. I really like this verse because it shows how the Lord will stand knocking at you all your life, just knocking knocking KNOCKING to come in yet he never intrudes,he wants us to answer but instead of barging in he doesn't. He knocks. Then when we let the Lord in,how amazing that we change, and we to can sup with God. I mean HOW AMAZING!

I know it's not that popular these days, but I like the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:1-11The Beatitudes 1Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2and he began to teach them saying: 3"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. 10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

I find the meek, merciful and peacemaker stuff is extremely unpopular with Christians online.I'm happy for someone to offer an idea as to why?

I think its because for two long christians have made such a big deal out of being meek that societyand many Christains themselves have mistaken it for weakness I think christains are realizing they have let this idea be misunderstood, is a Christain supposed to be compassionte, forgiving, kind, loving yes of course is this weakness NO !We are equally told we are to be champions for God we are to boldly preach/teach his Word Pacefullness does mean we are to let God truth be buried under politcal correctness Did Jesus rebuke his disiciples absoultly Meekness is not weakness knowing truth of God strenghtens one not weakens oneI think many Christains are waking up to this

This is not my 'favorite', but it is a really good one, Philemon 1:6
'the communication of thy faith may be effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.'

In other words your faith becomes effective when you acknowledge the good which is in you in Christ.
This verse is very true and has blessed me, other translastions say something else but the KJV and the Holy Spirit are clear about whats said here.
Love this verse, lets get this thread back to life!

I've got a few. My favorite verses seem to depend on circumstance or an idea I've been having.

I think out of all of the verses in the Bible, part of Isaiah is my absolute favorite. I think it shows God's willingness to have us understand, and it shows it's okay for us to THINK, rationalize, and seek information. I think it also shows God's willingness to work with us. Much like we would try to teach our kids.

For some reason, this verse seems to sum up everything about God in my eyes.

"Come now! Let us reason together....."
