Only in America; only in the fat and sassy western world, could Christians come up with a “cut and run” theology! If the pre-tribulation rapture folks are right, we will be pleasantly surprised, but if they are wrong, we are in for a rude awakening! Although the pre-trib doctrine may seem trivial to some, it may well be the keystone to deception as events unfold and Christians misinterpret their significance. There are only two types of Christians in the “last days:” those who are deceived and those that aren’t. If you read what the Bible says in the gospels about this period of time, in Paul’s letters or the book of Revelation, you see two main groups: the persecuters and the persecuted, the deceived and those willing to testify All these are the beginning of sorrows. “Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake. And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another… For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect (Matthew 24:8-10, 24) “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues. You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you. “Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved. (Matthew 10:16-22)In the “last days” we can expect to see these two groups – real Christians willing to lay down their lives and apostate Christians delivering up real Christians. Just as the religious establishment opposed Jesus and the early church, the apostate church will oppose Christians in the last days as the scriptures above show. Some will be a part of the problem and some a part of the solution. Some will believe the antichrist’s lies and be part of the deception, even turning on other believers in righteous indignation thinking they are doing God a favor.(Just a note here before you read on this is the only time period that the unforgivable Sin of Blasphemy can be committed if you deny Christ when called up.) I don't necessarily agree with everything in this article but much of it rings truemore.....http://www.the-tribulation-network.com/den...hristianity.htmSee swampfoxes study on Rapture Lie for more informationhttp://www.christianityboard.com/rapture-l...study-t506.html

" Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God." 2 Thessalonians 2: 3-4What Day is Apostle Paul talking about? Look to 2 Thessalonians 2:1Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him...."

One of the problems I have with the above article is that it refers to Israel and America (the church) as the two witnesses although I have not read their support for this view it seems that the verses in Rev.11 make it pretty clear that the two witnesses are men not nations and or the church. However could these two witnesses could be representative of Israel and the Church ?Rev.11:6 These men have power to shut up the sky so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want. Rev.11: 7 Now when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them.Rev.11: 8 Their bodies will lie in the street of the great city, which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified. Rev.11:9 For three and a half days men from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. Rev.11:10 The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth. Rev.11:11 But after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. Rev.11:12 Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, "Come up here." And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on. Rev.11:13 At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. Rev.11:14 The second woe has passed; the third woe is coming soon.

Well the two witnesses are also discussed in Zechariah 4 where they are called the two olive trees/olive branches:Zechariah 11-14Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof? And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves? And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord. Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.Revelation 11:4These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.I think that when you combine the description of them, I feel that these two witnesses are two men.

After reading this sites reasoning on this I found myself unconvinced that like so many sites They put together things that make their point sound logical and scripture based but they ignore what does not fit I don't think God intended us to take a subject he is teaching on and just exclude parts the that don't fit the scenario's I said above I am not opposed to entertaining the thought that the two witnesses maybe those who would represent the Church and Israel or the old testament and the new testament even a Jew and a Christian perhaps? However I am convinced as Swampfox has agreed that it is Men we are talking about not Nations. I think Rev.11:8 -12 makes this clear.

While we might disagree on how to handle Islam, I totally agree with you on this one Kriss. More disturbing than the pre wrath rapture doctrine itself is the somwhat cocky "Ha Ha! I,m not going to be here!" Attitude that some display on this matter. The bumper sticker claiming that their car could wind up empty at any moment is another example of this. One question is how quickly will one who expects to be whisked away before any hint of persecution comes about react when faced with an enforcer pointing a gun to his or her head?
