God's hate

I don't know the bible well at all but when I open it, I see stuff like:"Women are not to wear men's clothing, and men are not to wear women's clothing; the Lord your God hates people who do such things."..but I though God loves everyone?"No one born out of wedlock or any descendant of such a person, even in the tenth generation, may be included among the Lord's people"..so basically I won't go to heaven just because my mum's mum's mum had her when she wasn't married?I've always been taught that God is all loving and forgiving and perfect but some thing I see int he bible make him seem really scary and unforgiving. There's more of them as well not just the 2 I wrote. I mean I want to take the bible seriously but I find it hard when it says things like this?

Hi Eve. Welcome to the boards. I seem to remember your name on another forum, but I do not know if you are the same one or not.I think your fears are out of context. I'm going to paint a big picture here regarding the nature of the Law rather than answering specifics. The real issue is there were dire consequences for not following the Law of Moses, but that is under the Old Covenant where one was trying to make the grade with God by their own works. The Law, as Paul accurately pointed out, was merely a schoolmaster to bring one to Christ. It showed we needed a Savior. So, although the criteria of the Law is just and perfect, the means for attaining righteousness went from self-works (the Law which said, "Do this and live") to grace by Christ's finished work and His righteousness imputed on us.By His Spirit, we will tend to emulate the nature of the Law, but it is not be self-effort this time, but now thru a changed nature. Things start changing in your life, for example, people you would have hated before now you may find yourself helping them out and you cannot explain it.

Not only is God loving and merciful, but He's almighty and jealous. God is a just judge.You seem to have the ideology that God is a peaceful teddy bear.

1. What's wrong with this law?2. God cannot hate a person. He equally loves us all. He hates it when we don't listen to Him. And He may hate the things we do sometimes. But He doesn't hate us.

God hates the sin, yet loves the sinner unconditionally.
SK put it perfectly! God hates the sins we commit but that doesn't mean that he loves us any less.

You have to take things in a deeper context this is not refering to clothes men wore skirts in those days this is talking about Women behaving like men and Men behaving like women their may be a sexaul context applied here as well There is nothing here about fashion it changes with the times

More time than not this is the case. I will never learn enough about this AMAZING book and the PERFECT God who wrote it.

Heres what the bible says on this.Deu 22:5 ¶ The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so [are] abomination unto the LORD thy God. This has nothing to do with wearing pants. As today both men and women wear pants. In those days both men and women wore toga type skirts/dresses. A women was not to grit up her loins, witch means when a man was going into battle he would grab the hem of his toga and tuck it in his belt making a type of loose fitting type of shorts. It is about the dividing of the sexes and has a sexual connotation to it. We might think of today as crossdressing or transvestites Or trying to dress like the other sex To attract same sex partners.. Its not about wear any particular garment such as slacks/pants but rather that a Women dress in what is acceptable for a women and a man dress in what is acceptable for a man.As long as its obvious as to what sex you are by the other sex.

I don't think God is referring to him,yes the sin. Like Super said Love the sinner,hate the sin. God loves all,he loves as as a sinner,poor,old wrinkly or whatever you may be,what God can not love and will never love is SIN,the very stuff that he himself has told us not to do.See Kriss,I do not know about what you are saying. Because God has love for everyone,God says love your enemy. So even if they rebelled he still loves,but will not agree to what they are doing.

Gods hates evil and if you are a sinner you are evil, right? I know people say God loves the person, hates the sin. But I think it may be more complicated than that.

I believe it's also important to remember that God's ways are not our ways. And for this reason, I don't think that God's hate is the same as ours.
