http://desford.org.au/Hi everone,I have been on this site for a while and I reall enjoy it. How ever I challenge you all to look at prophesy in a different way.Instead of literal or futuristic. This desmond Ford teaches it as symbolic language in witch was understood by everyone at the time of its writing. This is not preterism. If your looking for the right answers like I am its worth a look.He has a lot of audio on every subject matter you discuss on this sight.you will find the results are simular to whats going to happen in the end days, but you will see the words in revelation in a new way from the old testementeye. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. It has changed my whole thinking on prophacy. He has tapes on the gospel that are wonderful. His name is Dr Desmond Ford he is retired in Australia. I think he still preaches. He was well known for bringing some of the false docterines out of the SDA church. He was good friends with the late Dr Martim (the bible answer man) who wrote Kingdom of the Cults. I hope you enjoy. It is not for the lazy mind.Crooner

As far as Revelation is concerned the language is symbolic not literal. Every word that is a symbol is found in the old testement. We dont have to go outside the bible to intereput the bible even in future history (Gog and Magog meaning Russia for example) It doesnt mean Russia. At the time of the writing people understood this symbolic language because they lived in that era, and understood Johns dream. I have always try to follow Kriss and others understanding of literal and futureistic interprutation, but something was always amiss. Fords understanding is widely accepted by historys renoun scholors of bible history. If you prayerfully listen to his audios of prophecy you will see what I mean. Its fasinating how I have been misinterputing prophesy. He is not a preterist. He has spent over 40 years studying Daniel and Rev.

But even the prophets of the Old Testaments spoke things about the future that they did not understand. We are not in error when we are futurists. Only when we abandon the proper Biblical interpretation of those symbols. Take for example the woman laboring to give birth in Rev 12. the OT, Micah 4:1-5:3 explains this very well. The time frame of the prophecy is the last days, the woman is Israel, she labors to be re-united to her brethren who do not believe. In 5:3 we read, He will give them until the time until she who is in labor has borne a child. Then the remainder of his brethren will return to the sons of Israel. And He will arise and sheperd His flock...' The He, is the one from Bethlehem, 5:2, The woman is Israel. The birth is their belief in the one from Bethlem! Really rather easy. Historical but futurist. samy

SamyI have always looked at the futurest view to make more sence in past, but I am excited to say I was probably wrong. If you listen to some of Fords prophesy tapes on revelation or daniel or the prophesy he will explain why the futurest view and literal view is wrong. If you enjoy prophesy like I do then take a chance and see if you agree. Its very interesting. I am reall excited about it

Listen to his videos. I think anyone who loves prophesy will find it very eye opening. I certainly did. Most great scholars dont by into the futurest intrepertation. I just found that out recently. There is alot of wild speculation out there with the futurest point of view. No one can agree on anything. That doesnt happen with this intrepetation. the bible intrepets the bible:study:.Hope you enjoy it.

We have been debating prophecy and fighting and getting mad and throwing fits in the name of Jesus for years. My challenge is for anyone to listen to Dr. Desmond Ford audios on Daniel and Revelation and then come back here and revisit the way we have been debating prophesy. Pray about it. I especially challenge Kriss. We get so drunk on what we think is knowledge only to find someday that we can be off or blinded. I know I certainly have personally. My challenge is in a loving way just to listen to something different

I have not heard of this man so I cant judge him but going from you description it sounds like the same thing that was taught for years before knowledge increased and events stared to happen that we could understand and put in perspective.I have always said the only way to interpret scripture is with scripture I also have said there is little in the new testament that is not in the old testament one way or another Its often (now)called type teaching, as God says there is nothing new under the sun everything that happened before will happen again in type. There is a danger in type teaching as many do not recognize it as a type, that is a forerunner of what will happen and instead teach it as something that already was fulfilled and over with. When in fact it is just a type of what will happen in the future.this is how the bible was taught for years as we did not understand until the later times and the generations that these things would happen to was born and knowledge increased Example:it would have hard to figure out how Israel would become a nation again after two thousand years until it happened in 1948. And sense most all future prophecy has to do with Israel in whole or part there would have been no way to fully understand scripture in a futurist way.And yes there is much symbolism in revelation and much of it is explained in the old testament especially if one understands Jewish customs but there is also literal and future events. If one thinks Rev. isnt future you are going down the wrong track no matter how interesting you may find a teaching be careful lots of people can easily get caught up in type teaching because its right teaching in many cases but its also just a type of something to yet come. A fact that easily can get lost if ones not carefulbut that being said I haven't listened to this person so can not judge him until I hear what he says.

I Kinda feel the same way Kriss, but if you listen to his tape he makes sence with scripture. It doesnt take away anything from the futurist. It reinforces bad things are going to happen. If u listen to the first couple of tapes on Dan or Rev you will get his drift. He is a smart guy respected by a lot of scholars. I am continuing to listen to them for a different perpective. Rev was written long ago and people back then understood it in their time. A challenge to u to try a few tapes. I promise you wont be turned into a cult member. lol

A lot of prophecies in Daniel, especially that huge statue in Nebuchadnezzars dream, have already been fulfilled. I can't listen to the tapes now, I have to leave for school.

Thats true but there have been many fulfilled prochecy but there are many not yet fulfilled so when one teaches that a future prochecy wont happen because it already did we are left with confusion. And God is not the author of confusion.Example some teach the destruction of the temple by Titus in 70 AD is what Revelation is refering to. That is wrong it was only a type of what is to come as scripture clearly points out. But if you ignore the scripture that places this in future context and apply only the verse's that match the type of the past it appears to sound right.Because it has some basis in fact but it leaves out the rest of the verse's that place it as a future event. Leaving scripture out because it doesnt fit your ideas is as bad as twisting the ones that are there.

It is possible that there is such a thing as conditional prophasy. If the jews didnt do what they were suppose to dont you think that some prophasy might not get fufilled?

No Its the Word of God not guess's the very sign of a true prophet is he is 100% correct 100% of the time And surley we have no better prophet than Gods Words. If anyone claims this, that all prophecy doesnt have to happen, then they are looking for a reasons to make the Bible fittheir own ideas instead of Letting God tell you what he says will happen. This is mans attempt to pick and chose what they want to hear (itchey ears)

crooner, when we read the commentaries on Revelation we see that those who wrote them believed that the book was written about their immediatate experiences, either happening or shortly to come, cloaked in symbols to protect them from the Roman officials. Whatever, they were wrong. So people back then did not understand it in their time. samy

Samyobvously u havent listened to any of his tapes. I disagree with u every symbol in Revelation relates back to old testament.. You guys like to argue with out opening up to other ideas. Take a few and listen to tapes on Daniel and revelation. The only thing that will happen is we will all learn something new. It gets old listening to the same bickering on prophasy with out some new ideas. This is not about right or wrong this is about streaching in the word. I wouldnt share these ideas with out reviewing them.
