2 Timothy 2:9 “Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.”

“...the word of God is not bound.” What does that mean to you? Has the word of God ever been bound? One thing this verse says to me is, the word of God is not bound in time as man (in the flesh) is bound in time. An example would be the Proverbs 31 Woman which is timeless. The Proverbs 31 woman’s description transcends time. Try to force the Proverbs woman to remain in the past and she becomes outdated, her duties and role irrelevant today. Also, the Proverbs 31 woman is not bound by gender.

Proverbs 31:11-31
[11] The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. [12] She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. [13] She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. [14] She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar. [15] She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. [16] She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. [17] She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. [18] She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. [19] She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. [20] She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. [21] She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. [22] She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. [23] Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. [24] She maketh fine linen, and selleth it ; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. [25] Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. [26] She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. [27] She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. [28] Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also , and he praiseth her. [29] Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. [30] Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord , she shall be praised. [31] Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

The flesh of Man tries to force the Proverbs woman to be bound (by time).

“...but the word of God is not bound.”
Similarly, Isaiah 55.11: 'my word shall not return unto me void'...

The Word of God is a living Word with supernatural power which transcends all limitations.
Also, the Proverbs 31 woman is not bound by gender.
Not sure what you mean, but women are indeed bound by gender. As are men. Transgenderism is evil, and leads to moral and spiritual confusion. Also, gender neutral Bible versions are a recent abomination.

Women yes. A bride, no. The Proverbs woman is His body. The Church. It is the role and duties to her husband she fulfills. The bride who belongs to her husband. I urge you to take a closer read, if you haven’t already. Even if you don’t agree...that is all I meant. No abomination. The body (help meet) belonging to the head which is Christ does transend “gender” ? yes or have I misunderstood. I mean, you are male but also considered a part of the bride?

Hullo VictoryinJesus, I think you make an interesting analogy between the industrious woman of Proverbs 31 and the Bride of Christ, and in doings so illustrate the point that God's Word is not bound in chains, and restricted the way Paul was. When Proverbs 31 was written under inspiration from the Holy Spirit there was no special revelation of the redeemed as the bride of Christ, and the intention of Proverbs 31 was not to provide such a revelation. However, if the Holy Spirit moves someone such as yourself to draw an analogy between the industrious woman and the bride of Christ, let it be just that, an analogy, a parallel, no more no less, but a parallel that edifies us and spurs us to be diligent.

While there are many wonderful applications in Scripture, I don't see the church directly in the Old Testament at all. (Interpretation as opposed to application.)

That's really stretching it.

That’s okay, Enoch111. I’m not here to convince you...but you miss out by not realizing...You ARE the Proverbs 31 woman. The bondage has been a single female being told she alone can fulfill the role laid out in Proverbs, when it takes the entire body of Christ. Proverbs 31:25-26 Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. [26] She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

Have you ever read Ruth?

Ruth 3:9-11
[9] And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman. [10] And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord , my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich. [11] And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.

Yes, indeed! (Isaiah 55.11)

Isaiah 55:11
[11] So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Not bound but Alive.

Luke 4:18-21
[18] The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, [19] To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. [20] And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. [21] And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

The great passage at the end of 1 Peter 1 comes to mind also. :)

The virtuous, valiant, wealthy or noble woman, as some translations have it that is more precious than rubies (Proverbs 31:10), is Wisdom (Proverbs 3:13-15, Proverbs 8:11). Her husband is the mind of those who possess her. She weaves for them the woolen garment of righteousness and the royal (flax) garment of truth. She procures her food (divine knowledge) from the far reaches of heaven. In the night of ignorance she nourishes the thoughts of her household and gives a portion to her maidens, the virtues. She plants in the heart (field) of those married to her the divine seeds of her teaching… she is none other than… Christ, the Power and Wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:24).

Since Christ shares His qualities with His body, the Church, it’s also applicable - like you said - to interpret the woman as every spiritually mature soul that shares in His wisdom.

Wow. On all of it.

She weaves for them the woolen garment of righteousness and the royal (flax) garment of truth.
The word of God, what is spoken from God...the word that proceeds out from God stands as a garment we put on; woven in scarlet threads of truth. The word is a garment given by God. Eternal. “...the word of God is not bound.”

Your post has me considering: Job 32:7-9
[7] I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom. [8] But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding. [9] Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

And: 1 Corinthians 2:11-12 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. [12] Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
