Instead of disrupting another members thread I decided to post separate here. The topic “the inner-man” has me revisiting a passage this morning. First I want to clear up any argument that to read the word as spiritual is to maybe, imply none of it actually happened but instead scripture is only parables...or fables. I want to say that is not what I believe at all. I believe the Old Testament focused on the natural and it (the creation) happened as God said it happened. I also believe Jesus Christ was indeed manifested in the end times, born into the natural by a woman and seen of men. My purpose for saying this is to let others know upfront...I am not trying to take away from the natural and what God said happened, but try to learn from it.
Isaac speaking to Esau. Genesis 27:35-40
[35] And he said, Thy brother came with subtilty, and hath taken away thy blessing. [36] And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath supplanted me these two times: he took away my birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me? [37] And Isaac answered and said unto Esau, Behold, I have made him thy lord, and all his brethren have I given to him for servants; and with corn and wine have I sustained him: and what shall I do now unto thee, my son? [38] And Esau said unto his father, Hast thou but one blessing, my father? bless me, even me also, O my father. And Esau lifted up his voice, and wept. [39] And Isaac his father answered and said unto him, Behold, thy dwelling shall be the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above; [40] And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.
in the beginning Adam was given the birthright and the blessing of dominion, but lost that dominion to sin. Through vanity(of the woman)...The dominion of sin and death would be over Adam and all his descendants. Cain slew Abel for vanity. But Seth was given of God in Abel’s stead: redeeming what was stolen or lost. God’s word says the creature was made subject to vanity by the same one who subjected the body and creature to Hope. Romans 8:20-e, [21] Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. [22] For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. [23] And not only they , but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit , the redemption of our body.
The creation was made subject to sin and death. Made subject to vanity...would this not include the body? The body of man MADE subject to vanity but also subject to HOPE. I keep forgetting this of the body. As there is vanity....There is hope. Think of vanity and how embedded it is in the flesh...as a thorn...lodged deep to provoke or irritate; to pride or lust or anger or greed, or envy ...which all lead to death. I’ve been warned so many times that the body is not the enemy ... i keep forgetting this. I keep forgetting it is the will of man that strives against the God who created him. The heart. A heart not able to desire the things of God, but instead the things of man. As Cain slew Abel and the promise was given of another seed...Seth. “40] And by thy sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother; and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion, that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.”
Jacob was to have dominion and subdue his brother...but Jacob was weak. Unable to have dominion or rule or subdue. And it came to pass when Esau (the natural man/flesh/carnal) had dominion, he(the carnal man/flesh man) would break the yoke off the body’s neck of a spirit(Jacob) that faints and is unable to subdue. The flesh man (Esau and Cain) when they rise to full power break the heavy yoke of bondage from the neck ...so that which is natural(the body) is MadeFREE to serve God. Consider this then: that which is natural is subdued to that which is BORNof God and taken as a slave with a yoke and burden that is light. The natural world and natural man ...once sold under the yoke of bondage to Jacob ... are redeemed by being of Israel. The ‘hope’ of fallen man(the natural and the supernatural) being Romans 8:20-23 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope, [21] Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. [22] For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. [23] And not only they , but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit , the redemption of our body.
The natural man (our bodies) and the natural world: groan to be delivered into the liberty of the Son’s of God. Redemption for soul and body.
I realize that is a lot of talking in circles...maybe it is as simple as saying: For the body was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same body in hope. Because the body itself shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.(the new spirit).
