'But when the Comforter is come,
whom I will send unto you from the Father,
even the Spirit of truth,
which proceedeth from the Father,
He shall testify of Me:... '

(John 15:26)

Hello @101G,

The answer to your question is clear from this verse, and I have no problem with that.

I thank you for your reply 101G. I will say no more now, but I send you my very best wishes, and love in Christ Jesus.

Chris
GINOLJC, to all.

Hi charity. first, thanks for your response.
second, please understand I'm not testing your knowledge, or anything, just trying to make clear a truth which many miss. and I'm glad you have have no problem with what both scriptures state. for the scriptures cannot lie nor are they broken. if the Lord Jesus sent and the Father sent, it's the same "one" person who sent "his" own Spirit, the Holy Spirit.

likewise I thank you for your reply, and may God richly bless you always.

stay strong in the Lord and in the power of his might, Amen.

I wish more preachers relied on the Holy Spirit, rather than being so keen on extracting so called decisions from people and recording them seemingly for their credit.

John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

1Cor 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
1Cor 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1Cor 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

My wife and I are currently reading the middle chapters of John's Gospel together and it's wonderful to see how Father, Son and Holy Spirit are completely united in their actions and purposes.

'But the hour cometh, and now is,
when the true worshippers
shall worship the Father
in spirit and in truth:
for the Father seeketh such to worship Him.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship Him
must worship Him in spirit and in truth.'

(Joh 4:23-24)

Hello @101G,

God is Spirit, (not 'a' spirit), but Spirit: in contrast to 'Flesh' or Material Substance; It is what God is - He is Spirit. When the Lord Jesus Christ ascended far above all heavens, He ascended to God's right hand. That is where He is now, in a spiritual body: which comprises of flesh and bone; He is our Advocate with the Father (1 John 2:1).

'But they ( the disciples) were terrified and affrighted,
.. and supposed that they had seen a spirit.
And He said unto them,
.. "Why are ye troubled?
.... and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?
Behold my hands and My feet,
.. that it is I Myself:
.... handle Me, and see;
...... for a spirit hath not flesh and bones,
........ as ye see Me have.
And when He had thus spoken,
.. He shewed them His hands and His feet.'

(Luk 24:37-40)

* The fact that the Lord Jesus Christ is called our 'Advocate' (also translated - Comforter) does not mean that He is the Holy Spirit.
(John 14:16; John 14:26; John 15:26; John 16:7).

'And I will pray the Father,
.. and He shall give you another Comforter,
.... that He may abide with you for ever;
Even the Spirit of truth;
.. whom the world cannot receive,
.... because it seeth Him not,
...... neither knoweth Him:
but ye know Him;
.. for He dwelleth with you,
.... and shall be in you.'

(Joh 14:16-17)

* The Lord Jesus Christ did not come on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came: He was sent by the Father in Jesus Name (John 14:26) in answer to the prayer of Christ Jesus the risen Lord (John 14:16). He is spoken of as, 'another Comforter', the Lord Jesus Christ being a Comforter (or Advocate) now, at God's right hand. It was He Who poured out the Holy Spirit upon the disciples at Pentecost, for God had given to Him the Holy Ghost (as promised)

* God uses the definitions of Father, of Son, and of Holy Spirit, for a reason.

John 4, a good passage for the Lord's Supper, I think: worship in spirit and in truth.

Hello @farouk,
Oh, yes! How wonderful it is to read that testimony to the operation of God among us: how privelaged we are to be able to witness it by means of the written Word, and to receive that word by faith. The words that God has spoken to us by His Son, they are spirit, they are life: we hear them by faith, and they are engrafted within; becoming the means by which the Holy Spirit operates within us, revealing the things of Christ, and making them ours. They are His sword.

Praise His Holy Name!

By this means we are one with the Father, in the Son, by the Spirit, and are able to be 'one' with each other, in Christ Jesus, our risen Lord; as we, each one, feeds upon the written Word by His Spirit.

In Christ Jesus
Chris

This is indeed an outworking of the truth seen in John's Gospel and elsewhere of Father, Son and Holy Spirit working together!

Hello @farouk,

Why do you think John 4 is a good passage to read at the Lord's supper in particular?

About 'worship in spirit and in truth'.
Hello @farouk

I thank you for your response, but please forgive me, for I don't understand why worship 'in spirit and in truth' should be particularly applicable to the Lord's supper: for worship 'in spirit and in truth' is the only way we can worship God isn't it, at any time.

I thought you may have a reason for saying so, which I could not see.

Thank you, again,
In Christ Jesus
Chris
