Kriss, You said, "God never intended his Book to be read through the eyes of a religious denomination". So whose eyes should I read it through? Yours? SuperJag's? TreeofLife's? Whose eyes are right? God's Word is infallible. But your INTERPRETATION isn't infallible. Whether you want to believe it or not, there are 33,000 non-Catholic "religions" on this planet. And don't even go there with me on that one. The Catholic Church isn't a denomination.....it's the only Church. The true and visible Church, the Apostolic Church. But that's a whole other debate, isn't it?
Obviously, not many people ever get what God is truly about. You will never find God with a heart like that. There is no chance where anybody can find God through a carnally-minded brain...

--Edit-- Ok the whole point I am trying to get across here is that the whole purpose of our lives is to Glorify God, and whether or not you will admit it. You all know that there is a right and wrong way to do that. Living a live of constant sin is not the way, live a christ like life. Ok seriously, when I first read this I was thought it MUST be a joke because the things I am reading are flat out ridiculous!! So let me start out with the basic question. Are we saved by works? NO, nope, absolutely not, never!! Buuut scripture also tells us that FAITH without WORKS is dead. So wouldn't this be a contradiction? We are saved by faith not works but we can't have faith without works...Actually its not a contradiction. Although its a task none of us shall ever achieve we are to strive to live like christ. He died for our sins because he loved us. And I love him for doing it!! Jesus died because we are filled with sin and evil, but some of yall are saying if we are already saved then we can just go ahead and just sin as much as we want. Well I am curious why you don't just spit right in Jesus' face!!!!:mad:True faith will PRODUCE works! A true christian (CHRISTIAN not catholic, protestant, episcopalian, etc) should strive to live the way scripture tells us. To be the best person we can in order to attempt to live like christ. How can you expect anyone to listen when you witness to them when you are suffering from a hangover?!?!?!Scripture tells us that we are made to glorify God, and some of you one here want to glorify God by living free and sinning as much as your flesh desires. You know thats odd because they're is a great liar and deciever I have read about that WANTS you to do these things. You might have heard of him, his name is satan. Oh wait, of course you have heard of him, YOUR DOING EVERYTHING HE WANTS YOU TOO!! So you must have heard of him, you apparently obey him everyday. I'm not saying I am perfect, far from it!!Nobody is. But at least some of us are TRYING to live the way scripture tells us. If you are truly trying to live to glorify God than you will DESIRE to do the work of God. You will want to help the needy, witness to unbelievers, shepherd his sheep, spread the Gospels. Not just these, but glorify God in EVERYTHING you do, do it with honor and praise God for the chance to do it and to praise him with your life. I mean that IS the entire purpose of our lives. To glorify God. **THIS IS NOT JUST A MESSAGE FOR THOSE HERE BUT FOR ALL** Live for God, obey scripture for it is God breathed. DO NOT live for your denomination or obey its teachings. The word of God is the only real truth in this sinful world, its the only thing you can trust. Not your pastor, minister, bishop, pope, or whatever church figure MEN have decided to create. ~followerofchrist ...not of man

This right here is what makes me so sick about my church. You just said there are 33,000 denominations of filled with True believers in Christ so what makes up Jesus's church, the believers in Christ, or the select few who decide to join the right clique. We are not the only church, we are not only flock of God, we are not the only True believers, we are not the only forgiven by Gods grace. we might be the most accurate church, but christianity was never about accuracy, Its about faith. There comes a point where you have to pick between the catholic church and God, or you will rise and fall by man. I rather stand with God.

And I would answer this by saying either be in it all for Christ's Church or leave. Even Benedict XVI said that the future of the Church would be a smaller, more faithful Church. Quality, not quantity. Ryan, you can't be a Cafeteria Catholic. Ever heard of that? That's when you just pick and choose which doctrines you agree and disagree on. You're either all in or all out. You can't be wishy-washy. St. Teresa of Avila was once quoted as saying, "The only people on this earth who truly scare me are bad Catholics". As for me, the poor sinner that I am, I will continue to boldly proclaim the true teachings of Holy Mother Church in their fullness to the best of my abilities. I'm not perfect by any means. I just have a fire in my belly for the Catholic Church. That doesn't make me any better than anyone else. I just wish you felt the same way about the Church as I did. It's a very liberating experience and one filled with true, lasting joy.

Your "holier than thou" approach toward me makes me laugh. The problem with you SuperJag is that you can't just sit there and disagree with me. You have to resort to words such as "carnally-minded brain" to try to make me look bad. Why can't you just agree to disagree with me? Anyone on here can disagree all they want with me......fine. All I want is for people on this forum to disagree with what the Catholic Church ACTUALLY teaches rather than what they THINK the Catholic Church actually teaches.

Holier than thou attitude? I'm sorry, but it is quite rediculous to see denominations actually claim to believe that there are the True church of Jesus Christ. Nowhere in the bible says that He founded a literal church. The Truth is, the more lies men believes, the further they are away from God...and preaching a lie is what makes human so lazy and carnally. I rather have the Truth which keeps me alive and awake.

And tell me, what lies do I believe? And how do you know that I'm far away from God? You assume way too much about me. You don't have the slightest clue about the state of my soul and vice-versa. Please stop jumping to conclusions

I relate to Craig19's response. God knows our heart and that is where the truth will be found if a person has faith.

Brother, you just don't understand. Even in the days of Paul, Christians were trying to form cliques (aka denominations): 10Now I exhort you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be made complete in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11For I have been informed concerning you, my brethren, by Chloe's people, that there are quarrels among you. 12Now I mean this, that each one of you is saying, "I am of Paul," and "I of Apollos," and "I of Cephas," and "I of Christ." 13Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? 1 Corinthians 1:10-13
