John 15 (NLT)
1 I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener.
2 He cuts off EVERY BRANCH OF MINE that doesn’t produce fruit,
4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit
if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.
5 Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them,
will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.
6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.
7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you,
you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!
9 … Remain in my love.
10 When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love,
just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.

Jesus explains about remaining “in Christ”
● If you remain, He remains in you (v.4)
● If you remain, you will produce much fruit (v.5)
● If you remain (and you believe His words), your prayers will be granted (v.7)
● If you obey His commandments, you remain in His love (v.10)
Is remaining in His love the same as remaining in Him?

A parallel verse to John 15:10 above …
“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne,
(just) as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” (Rev 3:21)

Jesus overcame sin, the world, the devil, and death.

The NT warns BACs to remain in the faith
Do NOT fall away from the faith … Luke 8:13, 2 Thessalonians 2:3, Hebrews 6:6
Do NOT fall from grace … Galatians 5:4, 2 Peter 3:17, Revelation 2:5
Do NOT draw back to perdition … Hebrews 10:39

There are many NT verses which warn BACs to endure in the faith
until the end of their lives so they will ultimately receive eternal life!
This enduring in the faith is about being faithful (obedient)
to Jesus and His teachings. Yes, salvation is a life-long process.

Your perspective is interesting.

It sounds like you want Christians to try and remain in God's love by obeying Jesus' commands. Is that so?

What do you feel like most Christians aren't doing that inspired you to write this? I assume there is a reason behind the warning. What is this reason?

In peace

Greetings!
My perspective is merely that of the NT, and not of today's churches.
You must choose: either follow the Scriptures, or follow your church doctrine.
Many, many BACs see clearly that most churches today are FAST ASLEEP.
Satan has deceived them into believing in false doctrines from the very pits of hell.
The NT teaches that salvation is a process in which BACs have some responsibility in their salvation.
The NT teaches that one's salvation is a co-operative effort between God and man.
And this certainly does NOT include habitual sinning (without repentance)!
Please let me know if you would like a fuller explanation.

Thank you! I don't mind people using acronym or abbreviations, but explaining them initially for those with slow heads like mine is not a bad idea.

Slow head? I think not! Aren't we all ignorant until a thing is revealed? ♥♥
PS-I too had to think about it a while before I came up with it while it was being used in context :)

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

The NT teaches that salvation is a process in which BACs have some responsibility in their salvation.
It is a process AND AT THE SAME TIME it is an accomplished fact from God's perspective.
The NT teaches that one's salvation is a co-operative effort between God and man.
This is primarily a Roman Catholic teaching. Salvation, according to Scripture, is all of God, for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.
And this certainly does NOT include habitual sinning (without repentance)!
That's a given. Do you believe that Christians are being taught to keep sinning habitually?

Vast vast majority of Christians believe "And this certainly does NOT include habitual sinning (without repentance)!". Vast vast majority of Christians believe in repentance-- or at least they say they believe this.

However, there is that constant struggle to put what we say we believe into action: actually doing it. Actually repenting. Actually fighting that habitual sin and striving to stop it. These all take a lot of effort on our part, and are only possible through Christ & His power. It is important to remember that we need to be doers of the words and not just hearers.

We have sin residing in our flesh. But we do not obey it. We obey God instead and therefore do not sin.
WRONG.

People like YOU who claim that they don’t sin preach a false Gospel.
Thankfully, Scripture doesn't teach such a hypocritical view as yours . . .

- Paul admits to being a sinner – in fact the CHIEF of sinners (1 Tim. 1:15).

- He goes on to describe in great detail that, although he is bound to Christ – he is STILL a wretched sinner in need of God’s mercy (Rom 7:7-25).

- Peter was rebuked by Paul when he sinned against the Gentiles (Gal. 2:11-13).

- John includes HIMSELF when he tells his congregation of born again CHRISTIANS that the truth is NOT in them if they claim they have no sin (1 John 1:8).

- James admonished his congregation of born again CHRISTIANS to confess their sins to each other and to pray for one another that they may be healed (James 5:16).

YOUR sanctimonious position that you no longer sin simply shows your spiritual arrogance . . .

We have sinful flesh that entices us, but we need not yield to it. “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16) (KJV 1900)

And YOU are a textbook example of why cherry-picking Scripture doesn’t work.

You desperately try to pit one verse against another instead of reading ALL of them in their proper CONTEXT. The verses you are cherry-picking speak of living a life of WILLFUL sin – not about stumbling in our journey, which is something we ALL do.

WHY do we sin? Because we have NOT yet been made perfect. We are BEING made perfect – but until we are, we will continue to stumble. This is what Romans 7 is ALL about.

I suggest you R*E*A*D it . . .
