And YOU are a textbook example of why cherry-picking Scripture doesn’t work.

You desperately try to pit one verse against another instead of reading ALL of them in their proper CONTEXT. The verses you are cherry-picking speak of living a life of WILLFUL sin – not about stumbling in our journey, which is something we ALL do.

WHY do we sin? Because we have NOT yet been made perfect. We are BEING made perfect – but until we are, we will continue to stumble. This is what Romans 7 is ALL about.

I suggest you R*E*A*D it . . .
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” (Hebrews 12:14) (KJV 1900)

Vast vast majority of Christians believe "And this certainly does NOT include habitual sinning (without repentance)!". Vast vast majority of Christians believe in repentance-- or at least they say they believe this.

However, there is that constant struggle to put what we say we believe into action: actually doing it. Actually repenting. Actually fighting that habitual sin and striving to stop it. These all take a lot of effort on our part, and are only possible through Christ & His power. It is important to remember that we need to be doers of the words and not just hearers.
Hello @Jane_Doe22,

I agree that we are to be doers of the Word and not hearers only: but where sin is concerned, I believe it is by activily believing that we are, as a result of the sacrificial work of Christ, 'dead unto sin' and 'alive unto God' that this can be achieved; by reckoning as God reckons, and seeing ourselves as God sees us, in Christ Jesus our Lord. All the self-effort in the world will not make a sinner a saint, only by believing and trusting in the efficacy of the finished work of Christ, can it be achieved.

We are His workmanship - Praise God!

In Christ Jesus
Chris

Amen!
Hence my stressing all this is only possibly though Christ and His sacrifice.

'What shall we say then?
Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
.. God forbid.
.... How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were
.. baptized into his death?
.... Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death:
...... that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father,
........ even so we also should walk in newness of life.
For if we have been planted together in the likeness of His death,
.. we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection:
.... Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him,
...... that the body of sin might be destroyed,
........ that henceforth we should not serve sin.
.......... For he that is dead is freed from sin.
Now if we be dead with Christ,
.. we believe that we shall also live with him:
.... Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more;
...... death hath no more dominion over him.
........ For in that he died, he died unto sin once:
.......... but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin,
.. but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,
.. that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
.... Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin:
but yield yourselves unto God,
.. as those that are alive from the dead,
.... and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
For sin shall not have dominion over you:
.. for ye are not under the law, but under grace.'

(Rom 6:1-14)

Praise God!

There are many NT verses which warn BACs to endure in the faith
until the end of their lives so they will ultimately receive eternal life!
he who seeks to save his life will lose it

and "eternal" and "immortal" are two diff concepts, wadr.
You are trying your best to get to Valhalla and be an immortal along with Zeus, I guess.

“Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” (1 John 3:9–10) (KJV 1900)

Why do you continue to cherry-pick verses and try to pit them against each other?? THIS is sinful.

John is obviously talking about returning to a LIFE of WILLFUL sin. ALL Scripture must harmonize – or it is ALL a big, fat LIE. On its own – it cannot stand up against ALL of the other passages in Scripture that illustrate how Christians will continue to stumble (1 Tim. 1:15, Rom 7:7-25, Gal. 2:11-13, 1 John 1:8, James 5:16).

As Rocky Balboa said to his son: “It ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”
With GOD'S grace, of course . . .

Z: The NT teaches that one's salvation
is a co-operative effort between God and man.

This is primarily a Roman Catholic teaching. Salvation, according to Scripture, is all of God,
for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure.
Just because the RCC is full of "the doctrines of men",
is it not possible that they teach a few truths?
E.G. belief in the Trinity.

Salvation, according to Scripture, depends on man's co-operation!
Many NT verses prove each of these spiritual truths:
Believers stay righteous by practicing righteousness
Believers stay righteous through their obedience
Believers faith must endure until the end of their lives
Believers keep salvation by repenting of their sins
Believers were chosen and called to live holy lives
Believers must love, forgive, not judge or condemn
Believers must be victorious overcomers
[One full page of Scripture verses is available for almost all of the above topics.]

Yes, harmonizing (or, as I call it: reconciling) in the NT:
the so-called OSAS verses ...and... the verses opposing OSAS
results in the following revelation:

True saving faith = enduring deep heart belief
+ enduring trust + enduring obedience

(Obedience includes co-operating with the precious Holy Spirit
as He endeavors to fully sanctify the BAC unto holiness.)

Here's the thing that really gets me about Paul. He must have been the most Spirit filled man ever when he was writing the NT, yet he never claimed he was sinless or that he had completed the race, but that he was still pressing on, still striving against the flesh and unholy desires. That really speaks to our condition as we are here in the flesh.

Absolutely.

He was humble enough to admit that he wasn’t perfect and that he wasn’t sinless.

Okay, so you're not a BAC ... Is that what you iz sayin'?
Don't misunderstand my misunderstanding.
In your OP [Opening Post] you used the letters BAC without explaining what they meant. I did not have a clue although I thought someone online had used them before. I did a computer search for BAC and it came up with Bank of America Corporation. I was certain that was not the subject of your OP... and then one of my friends here said it meant Born Again Christian.

Alas then the light came on and understood your OP.

As to whether I am or not is another question. Another member here who I believe was banned used to say that a Born Again Christian was effectively an nonsensical expression because according to him any Christian was Born Again. The statement of the two together was redundant and perhaps confusing. Was he right? I guess it depends upon whether or not a person can be a Christian without being Born Again.

When does a person become a Christian? That depends upon what it means to be a Christian.
When is a person Born Again? What is a person before he is Born Again? I would say that he is dead as all people descended from Adam and Eve are dead before they believe in Jesus...

Then to your question: Presuming that a person is really Born Again and really is a Christian, could he or would he remain in either one or both of those categories if he failed to remain in Christ? When you have all of the correct answers to my questions then perhaps you will also have the correct answer to your question.

I hate acronyms. I do occasionally use them but, unless they are obviously well-known by most everyone, they are extremely rude. Why should the reader ever have to research these?

A person becomes a born-again Christian when he is born a second time, literally - resurrected. The 1st birth is in water and the resurrection birth is in Spirit, just like it says in John 3:5.

In order to get into the Kingdom, the Jew has to be born again, John 3:3, but, at the same time, flesh and blood can't enter the Kingdom, 1Corinthians 15:50. From this, how can you avoid seeing that born again means being resurrected?

No - John 3:5 says that REBIRTH is water and Spirit (Baptism).

Read the context of the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus.
Nicodemus was asking Jesus about REBIRTH - not birth.

Sorry, I didn't realize that you people weren't familiar with the term BAC.

A BAC is aperson who has received the Holy Spirit inside.
IMO, one remains a BAC, even if he/she fails to remain in Christ.
Yes, there are BACs in hell, and there will be more as time goes on.
Ask yourself:
If a BAC takes the mark of the beast,
does he/she remain a BAC while being cast into the Lake of Fire.

Yes, this is a wake-up call to all of you BACs out there
as you continue going to apostate churches which teach
such false doctrines as easy grace, hyper grace, OSAS, etc.
I suggest starting home groups where you can learn the Scriptures
without being led astray by false shepherds-prophets-teachers.

An excerpt from a recent message from the Father to one of His people:
"shepherds leading multitudes to hell".
