Is the Trinity a biblical concept?Come to think of it, I have never seen it mentioned in the Bible. Jesus speaks multiple times of how the he does the will of the Father in heaven and there are multiple times Jesus prays to God as well.Yes Jesus is our savior, but if he was God he would not need to pray to anyone. There is one God: Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4; Galatians 3:20; 1 Timothy 2:5.I am not underestimating Jesus here. But why would we teach this if it's not in the Bible?
When Jesus took upon Himself sinless humanity He also took on the role of a servant. Jesus was fully God when he dwelt on earth, but He was also fully man. As God-Man He had to learn obedience to His Father as He was tempted by Satan, falsely accused by man, rejected by His people and then crucified. His praying showed dependence upon the Father to carry out the plan of redemption and then submit to His Father's will in the garden to go to the cross and pay the penalty for man's sin.Even in sinless humanity, Christ showed it was necessary to have a vital prayer life to do His Father's will. His example of prayer is left for us to follow.
