I believe he was a pagan like I was.
He wasn't always a pagan, just like you, so the question still stands:

No one had ever told you about Jesus or God before the miracle on the roof?

The question is: Why do you believe Jesus is the Son of God?

What is it that you understand? Please extrapolate for me from Amadeus's answers to me WHY he believes Jesus is the Son of God.

Mary

Oh come on Mary.
What’s so hard...

Nancy, myself, Amadeus, and Willie ALL BELIEVE THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD...BECAUSE GOD SAID SO, JOHN THE BAPTIST SAID SO... JESUS CONFIRMED IT.

You may not believe it...but we do!!!!

So you believe God reveals Himself to everyone and then we each decide for ourselves whether or not we wish to serve God?

God is sovereign and in the end HIS Will will prevail...
Within that Will of HIS, WE do have the free will to choose Him and to choose our moral behavior.

As to Pharaoh, there are two possible explanations for this and if anyone thinks they know exactly the right answer, I fear they think they have God's mind.

Verse 4:21 says that God will harden his heart.
Verse 7:3 ditto

Then we read, instead, in verse 8:32 that pharaoh hardened his own heart.
This would be similar to Romans 1:24 when God gave some over to their heart's impurity. IOW, it's like God giving in to what the person wants for himself.
How can we really know what came first? Pharaoh's hardening his own heart against the Israelites...

OR

Perhaps God DID harden his heart in order for the miracles to be seen to prepare the Israelites for their long trip and their encounter with God. Maybe also to show Moses how much power he had by the grace of God.

However, I do believe that these instances, even if God DID harden pharaoh's heart, are very rare and are not the usual way God operates.

Agreed. I see God as simply using our choices and circumstances...He already knows which way we will choose, He already knew Pharaoh would harden his own heart so, maybe God decided to ramp up the process, ahahaha! Does God need to force a man to do anything? I say no, not at all-He uses our already made choices (in His line of sight) and uses the circumstances they lead to, to complete His will He is just that awesome :)

Thank you for that clarification. That's tough on a kid. Makes me more thankful for my childhood and parents.

It sounds like, from your previous testimony, that your parent(s) sent you to (paid for) a Catholic school and you attended a Catholic Church. Was that your choice or theirs? Would you have rather gone to a public school?

Mary
No, no Catholic school. I attended a public elementary school in a primarily Catholic town. The nearest Catholic school was in another town several miles away.

@amadeus was clear to me when he spoke of "written in his heart"-I believe he meant that ALL of God's laws are written on the lining of our hearts, and he totally relies on the Spirit of God to guide and lead him and give him the words, or no words! Every situation is different Mary. And IMO, we are all dealt with and appealed to by God through a Spirit filled Christian.
I hope this clarifies what I believe Amadeus meant.
I apologize for my tone.
nancy
Yes, the scriptures speak of God writing on our hearts. This what I meant. I strive to always surrender to Spirit of God, but sometimes I stumble and the carnal man grabs hold to support himself. This has always been man's problem Without Him we can do nothing.

Amen to all that!
Great explanation.

What are his commandments?
Do you think He didn't have any?
Do you think there are only two?

In Mathew 28:19-20 Jesus tells the Apostles to go into all the nations teaching them to observe all that Jesus commanded them.

Do you really think it took over 3 years to teach the Apostles two commandments?

What do YOU think Jesus commanded?

Waiting on him

Hi BG,

I asked you to "extrapolate for me from Amadeus's answers (quotes from his posts) to me WHY he believes Jesus is the Son of God". I don't see any quotes :(

You believe that Jesus is the Son of God because God and John the Baptist said so and then Jesus confirmed it. I will would like to add that the OT Scripture told us what to look for so we would know that it was Him. The prophecy did not say that SELF AFFIRMATION is how you will know he is the Son of God. The prophecy included Isaiah 35:5–6. If he hadn't fulfilled the ENTIRE prophecy, he would not be who he said he was.

When he was asked Jesus affirmed (cryptically, for a lack of better words) that he is the Son of God. The Apostles, and others around him, believed him. Why did they believe him? Just because he said he was the Son of God? Peter said, We have come to know that You are the Holy One of God. How did they KNOW he was the Holy one of God? Because he said he was?

Where in scripture
does it say that the Apostles believed Jesus was the Son of God solely because he said he was?

Peter makes it clear in Acts 2:22-24 what lead them to believe....and it wasn't because he said so.

You gave me some wise words recently...I should invoke those words now :)

Helen, she doesn't believe anything if one of the Popes didn't give it a number, and publish it in one of their guide books.

I apologize. I misunderstood your previous testimony.
