Interesting; so what would you make of the value - as opposed of the monetary cost - of a faith / Scripture design that is inked in and causes testimony discussing and refection?

Total waste of good money.
Tattoo's are addictive...she is just addicted to them...nothing to do with God or faith.
In fact, I think all tattoo's are all about 'self' ...not really about witnessing or faith at all.

Scripture references/quotations, maybe?
I like those small crosses that are placed somewhere on the hand...
but I'd still be afraid to get one due to possible regret...
One has to be really sure they want to do this.

So do you think it would be a better experience overall if you went on your own? or good to go in a group of ppl who have it done in turn?

Honestly, I would never have gone on my own. :) The 2 of us that didn't have one, probably still wouldn't have one.

....but maybe your son in contrast didn't need any encouragement to go for his ink?

He jumped right in. Could be why the grand kids aren't into them. Like my husbands hair is long and both boys shave their heads. Lol

PS:

But maybe for those of your group that had had it done already it wasn't so hard to have more inking done?

It used to be a man thing years ago but now it seems women participate fully in tattooing, doesn't it? and it's now generally not such a hurdle to attempt, to have it done for the first time.

So have you maybe been looking mainly Online for designs? or perhaps you've been to a local parlor just to check out portfolio designs, without obligation?

Yes hers was about 13 years ago I do see how some are more of an addiction
PS: Maybe like so many young ppl - especially young women, now - being needled with ink was for her like a sort of compulsion to express that she was now an adult?

(Even though she didn't subsequently feel the compulsion to get more.)

A lot of Christian young people do get faith based ones done, anyway.

@Waiting on him PS: It seems now that getting some ink on reaching adulthood is really not very different from the way 30 years ago they would have gotten (and maybe still do) double/triple ear piercings, really. Something that they typically do because they see themselves as growing up/having grown up, don't you think?

So it would have hardly been an unusual response from either of your daughters.

Yes, for both of them getting their ink injectings done for the first time probably simply made them feel comfortable as adults.

It's certainly been used by young Christians as a witness tool, anyway.
It’s very easy to be narrow minded in this big world

I think so. But it also would hold people accountable to their profession of faith. How would you ever live down sinning while brandishing scripture clearly written for all to see?
Well, it's what nurses do, now.

In and of itself, I'm not sure of its value.

But among the young Christians that have it done with Scripture-related designs, it certainly proves to be a pragmatic and effective way to spur testimony discussions; and even as a silent witness.

Well, yes, but — like both your daughters have proved to be — a lot of young Christians now seem to have proved to be a lot more open to it.

Around here (Bible Belt), it is common, especially among evangelical Christians, for the girls under about 40 to have religious tattoos. More do than don't, especially when you get to the under 30 crowd. I hardly know any female at church that is under 30 that does not have a tattoo.

I'm not sure of its inherent value, per se. Your daughters probably did find it an exhilarating experience, right? as it happened, but I guess this is not the main point, from a testimony perspective.

But at least when Christian young people are more open to it with Scripture related ink designs, it does pragmatically advance a lot of witness opportunities.
