There are those that think that the New Jerusalem will descend at the end of the millennium. There is evidence that this event will take place at the beginning of the millennium on the "Day of the LORD."John states: Rev 21: 1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." The timing of this passage can be determined by the catchphrases 1. “"a new heaven and new earth"” 2. “"There will be no more death"” and 3. “"He will wipe every tear from their eyes." 1. Peter clarifies that we can expect a "new heaven and a new earth" on "the Day of the LORD."2 Peter 3: 10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare. 11Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 12as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness2 & 3. Paul confirms Isaiah that "Death is swallowed up in victory" at the first resurrection, at the beginning of the millennium when God "will wipe away every tear."1 Corinthians 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.So, when does God "wipe away every tear" and when does He "swallow up death in victory", at the beginning or the end of the millennium? The answer confirms when the "new heaven and new earth" begins and determines when the New Jerusalem will descend. In Yehoshua,Guy Smithhttp://www.geocities.com/guysmith123/144000

Although I believe that the city is a symbolic picture representing the people of God. It is called the "wife of the lamb." It is a picture, as a city and habitation of God, of God's redeemed people now in unhindered and unbreakable fellowship and communion with God on the earth in creation. It is a picture of us as God's "wife," and his family, his community. It is also a picture if our security with him and a picture of his glory, his beauty, etc being increasingly reflected in his people then physically and Spiritually with him forever. It is not a construct descending from space.

City always represents peoples. The city of God is his people. The description of the city must be symbolic It has 12 gates but only one street, It is 4 square, it is as high as it is wide and long and so on

Whoa, whoa, whoa... New Jerusalem is at the End of the Melinneum Reign. If it is at the beginning of the Mellineum Reign, then there is no such thing as what is called second death. The Melinneum Reign is between the second Earth Age (Human Era) and the third Earth Age (where it is perfect, no sin) For the third Earth Age to exist, there has to be a second death.

Jag is right The New Heavens and new earth DOES NOT occur untill the End of the millieum. Rev. 21 is after the Milliuem not at the begining. Peter2:3 Is covering the Events of the Whole Lords Day which is 1000 years long From begining to End.1Cor. Is describing the changing at the coming of the Lord we are all changed into incoruptable spirit/soul bodies at the second coming because Christ is coming here to reign and rule. However Satan is still here during the Millieum he is buring in Hell, temporalirly we know this because we are told he is losed again for yet a little While. The deserving will be taught through the millieum and then Satan is losed again. This must occur before the White Throne Judgement and before the New Heavens and New earth. This is what Isa. is talking about but All tears can not be wiped away until Satan and all sin is gone destroyed. These are the order of Events of the Millieum (1000 years)1. Second Coming of Lord2. We are all changed 3. The first resurected will rule and reign with Christ4.Satan is losed yet for a little while (to test the ones taught in the millieum)5. White Throne Judgement for All6. A New Heaven and New Earth and all tears will be wiped awaydeath and Hell sin Satan are all destroyed

So, when does God "wipe away every tear" and when does He "swallow up death in victory", at the beginning or the end of the millennium?
If only we could ask those before the throne. In fact the Angel asked John "where have they come from?REV 713 Then one of the elders answered, saying to me, "These who are clothed in the white robes, who are they, and where have they come from?" 14 I said to him, "My lord, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones who come out of the great tribulation, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15 "For this reason, they are before the throne of God; and they serve Him day and night in His temple; and He who sits on the throne will spread His tabernacle over them. 16 "They will hunger no longer, nor thirst anymore; nor will the sun beat down on them, nor any heat; 17 for the Lamb in the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and will guide them to springs of the water of life; and God will wipe every tear from their eyes." REV 21Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. 2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, "Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He will dwell among them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be among them, 4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the first things have passed away." IS 258 He will swallow up death for all time, And the Lord GOD will wipe tears away from all faces, And He will remove the reproach of His people from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken. 9 And it will be said in that day, "Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited; Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation." They came out of GT and for that reason are standing before the throne. There is no mention of them coming out of the millenium.

Sorry it wont fit Jeff You can not have them at White throne judgement until after Satan is loosed for a little while againthats after the tribulation and that is after his second coming thats the problem I found with this type teaching you can make everything fit.You must have a millieum here. Isa. Is talking about the End of this age that doesnt mean there is no millieium he just isnt talking about that. Use caution here you can not determine the scripture by assuming what people do not say makes it right. When something else it said other places.

Kriss,This does not negate the millennium. I am suggesting that Rev 21 will take place at the beginning of the millennium.Isn’t Christ supposed to come with his “bride” at the beginning of the millennium as suggested in the parable of “the ten virgins.” Revelation 21The New Jerusalem 1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 9One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." 10And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.In Yehoshua,Guy Smith

That is a direct misinterpretation of the Word. It is clearly after the Melinneum Reign.(thesuperjag;51927)
