You think a depressed person should have a gun?!?!

Depression comes in many degrees. It could be a sudden onset from a tragedy like the loss of a loved one, or a job, or some unexpected event. There is mild to severe depression and IMHO, it should be up to a professional to diagnose properly. Depression can come and go. Now, bi-polar is another story, I've seen them in action without meds. and it is not pretty! How about those with anger issues? Is that a mental illness too? That would scare me knowing they're allowed to have guns more than either of the above. Just sayin ♥

Obviously, Nancy, you (or someone you love) have\has been diagnosed with depression, and you are, understandably, resisting the idea of "labeling." But, do you really believe placing a pistol in your/their nightstand is a wise move?

As I said, I think it should be on an individual basis. Why does everyone think a depressed person is whackado?? If anything, one might take their own life but not anothers. I sure know plenty of angry men with weapons...several uncles and at least one co-worker. And, all these kids coming home with PTSD, which is pretty much all of them, would they too have to stay away from all weapons?

I had a very angry uncle one time, he shot my Aunt with his shotgun and shot her again in the head just to be sure. He wasn't depressed, he was an angry man.

How about having a very good reason to own a semi-auto?
I had semi-autos with 30 round clips and shot guns, bolt actions etc are just a joke.
I thought nothing of it growing up with guns out in the bush, but we were taught how to use and deal with guns, not to mention to taught to become a man not a mouse, but people now a days are taught to be a mouse, so sticks and stones may brake my bones but names will never hurt me was what I grew up with, but now some how names will hurt you.
I never thought of shooting anyone, even when I was attacked by mobs of trash people time and time again or ripped off badly many a time or treated very badly all the time.
Only gutless weak minded people will go out and shoot another person.
Not to mention that any moron can get a gun if they really want one, let alone I have a stupid mate down the road that has a gun licence but he to me is the type who should not have a gun at all as he is an retard idiot when it comes to guns, I will not go out shooting with him at all. I have even had people who were in the Australian Army come out shooting with me years ago and they were hopeless there training was just crap, that I never let them come out again due to their stupidity.

In the USA it looks as the stats are that most shootings is in the non gun States that I have seen.

A mate went to Texas and he said that people left their car windows down, he asked why and was told that if you stole some ones car you could be shot by the owner.

Hahaha. I have a brother that has to hunt alone because nobody trusts him with the rifle. He is just not very safety conscience!

My uncle was arrogantly teaching my dad about gun safety with a handgun and it went off inside a house - my uncle was a cop. No one was hurt.
