Jesus Sabbath Reference in End Times ________________________________________I did a search engine and did not see anything related to addressing this Scripture. So, I present it for my correction, edification or clarity.Question and issue: Why would Jesus admit that the Sabbath continued to exist and be observed during the end times of tribulation?Jesus refers the existence of the Sabbaths during the end times of tribulation. He is speaking of a prophetic events way after the resurrection and His death. Why would Jesus refer to the existence of Sabbaths during our present time if you believe that we are in the times of the end................Matthew 24:15-28 15 "Therefore when you see the ABOMINATION R884 OF DESOLATION which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the R885 holy place (let R886 the reader understand), 16 then those who are in Judea must flee to the mountains. 17 "Whoever F519 is on the R887 housetop must not go down to get the things out that are in his house. 18 "Whoever F520 is in the field must not turn back to get his cloak. 19 "But woe R888 to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 "But pray that your flight will not be in the winter, or on a Sabbath. 21 "For then there will be a great R889 tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will. 22 "Unless those days had been cut short, no life F521 would have been saved; but for the R890 sake of the elect F522 those days will be cut short. 23 "Then R891 if anyone says to you, `Behold, here is the Christ,' F523 or `There F524 He is,' do not believe him. 24 "For false Christs and false R892 prophets will arise and will show F525 great signs R893 F526 and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the R894 elect. F527 25 "Behold, I have told you in advance. 26 "So if they say to you, `Behold, He is in the wilderness,' do not go out, or, `Behold, He is in the inner rooms,' do not believe them. 27 "For R895 just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes even to the west, so will the coming R896 of the Son R897 of Man be. 28 "Wherever R898 the corpse is, there the vultures F528 will gather. Why would Jesus refer to a day that some say is passed away and done away with as if it was still legit and observed............. If winter still comes every year, then so does the Sabbath. He was not talking about every day, but He singled this day out. He made it distinct from any other day in His reference, otherwise He would have said, "I pray that your flight would not be on any day. He is talking prophetic about the end times and associates the Sabbaths with those times. Most believe we are in those times. Hence Jesus still showed respect for the Sabbath even in the Second Marriage Covenant by His reference to its continued existence. Was Jesus lying or was the Bible altered to match the beliefs of Sabbath observers? Is the Sabbath really fulfilled or do we not understand what He meant by fulfilled. The Greek word "Pleroo" used in Matt 5 for fulfill has multiple meanings........... complete, fill in, add to, amend, render full.................... There is also multiple words used for fulfill in the Scripture. Why did He use this one for fulfill?

Why does Heb 4 talk about the sabbath of no rest then talk about today is the day to enter his rest? You are here: 1 God's promise of entering his place of rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to get there.2 For this Good News--that God has prepared a place of rest--has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn't believe what God told them.*13 For only we who believe can enter his place of rest. As for those who didn't believe, God said, "In my anger I made a vow: `They will never enter my place of rest,' "* even though his place of rest has been ready since he made the world.24 We know it is ready because the Scriptures mention the seventh day, saying, "On the seventh day God rested from all his work."*35 But in the other passage God said, "They will never enter my place of rest."*46 So God's rest is there for people to enter. But those who formerly heard the Good News failed to enter because they disobeyed God.7 So God set another time for entering his place of rest, and that time is today. God announced this through David a long time later in the words already quoted: "Today you must listen to his voice. Don't harden your hearts against him."*58 This new place of rest was not the land of Canaan, where Joshua led them. If it had been, God would not have spoken later about another day of rest.9 So there is a special rest* still waiting for the people of God.610 For all who enter into God's rest will find rest from their labors, just as God rested after creating the world.11 Let us do our best to enter that place of rest. For anyone who disobeys God, as the people of Israel did, will fall.12 For the word of God is full of living power. It is sharper than the sharpest knife, cutting deep into our innermost thoughts and desires. It exposes us for what we really are.13 Nothing in all creation can hide from him. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes. This is the God to whom we must explain all that we have done.14 That is why we have a great High Priest who has gone to heaven, Jesus the Son of God. Let us cling to him and never stop trusting him.15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same temptations we do, yet he did not sin.16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it.

I answered this in the other thread Crooner but it because the Sabbath is still in effect as all the Laws are Christ only fulfilled the Day partas the New Testament teaches. The essence of Sabbath is to Rest from our worldly Works and do Gods Work, Now if Gods work is planting seeds, praying preaching the Good News of Christ, Then the Work of God is Christ we are to preach the Only way to God is Christ, therefore Christ is the Work, We are to rest from our Worldly work (Sabbath) and do Gods Work preach the Good news of Christ.(everyday)

Dear Kriss. We should not forsake the assembly of the fellowship, hence a day of public worship is still to be observed as a holy convocation. It this correct? Personal worship daily has not changed from first to second covenant. The question is in regard to the holy convocation. Can this day be any day a congregation selects according to personal preference? Let me know kind sir......

Hebrews 4:1 "Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into His rest, any of you should seem to come short of it."When it appears that nothing is going right in your life, and everywhere you turn has a new problem, you are not in God's rest. That is when you must repent of all those little sins that creep into your life when your guard is down, and turn your problems back over to the Lord. Hebrews 4:2 "For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it."The "gospel" that was preached was the "good news" that Jesus Christ has come into the world and paid the price for our sins. That message is the good news that God has offered us peace and rest in Him.Hebrews 4:3 "For we which have believed do enter into rest, as He said, "As I have sworn in My wrath, if they shall enter into My rest:" although the works were finished from the foundation of the world."This verse can be translated in several ways. Your "rest" is your "sabbath" or "abode". It is a place where you can settle down and find some peace of mind. "Rest" as translated here from the Greek text is # 2663 in Strong's Greek dictionary, "Katapausis, kat-ap'-ow-sis, reposing down, i.e. abode." "Repose" is a place of resting where you are secure. The word "foundation" refers to the time of the overthrow of Satan in that first earth age. In other words, before all the trouble took place in that first earth age, the plan of God was already in place for those that would take part in the plan of salvation. It was ready for those that would believe on Christ and overcome.Hebrews 4:4 "For He spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, "And God did rest the seventh day from all His works."He spoke on the 7th Day this is not a command to worship on it. Gods rest is not the same as ours, God rest's from his work we are are to rest in his work The most important thing that we can get from this verse is that "rest follows work." Rest is something earned by the work. Hebrews 4:5 "And in this place again, "If they shall enter into My rest."If they enter into his Rest (Sabbath) ChristHebrews 4:6 "Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:"Because of a person's "unbelief", comes disobedience which always follows with chastisement. Paul is reminding us that we set the pace for our own lives. God is not the author of confusion, and if you want peace of mind, it comes from studying our Father's Word, and following the instruction that He gives to us. From God's Word we can find peace of mind. Hebrews 4:7 "Again, He limiteth a certain day, saying in David, "To day," after so long a time; as it is said, "to day if ye will hear His voice, harden not your hearts."This is saying that there is a time when a person has waited just one day to long. You are to come to God Today, This time of Grace will end.And if you are waiting for that certain day to make up your mind, Paul is saying that this day will not come. There is a limit to how long God will wait on a person, and then He will just leave them alone. This verse comes from Psalm 95:7, 8.Psalm 95:7 "For he is our God; And we are the People of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand. To day if ye will hear His voice,"Psalm 95:8 "Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:"There is a day coming when it will be to late, and the result of delay then will be a quick walk into the fire. That day is the close of the Millennium age. However there will also be a time when the Spirit of God will leave you alone and not disturb your conscience. He will allow you to go on sinning with a clear conscience, and at that time it has been one day to late. Hebrews 4:8 "For if Jesus had given them rest, then would He not afterward have spoken of another day."First of all, understand that the word "Jesus" in the Greek, comes from the Hebrew word "Joshua". This verse is talking about the "Joshua" that followed Moses in the wilderness, and then led the children of Israel into the promise land. If Joshua [if man] was able to give you rest, wouldn't he have spoken of another day? Naturally Joshua did not, because when Joshua gave the order, they moved out to do the work and take the land. They were entering into the promised land, and there was no time for another day. It was to be now or never, cross the river and don't look back. Hebrews 4:9 "There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God."The "rest" as used here is "sabbath", used differently then the rest used in prior verses. It is "#4520 in Strong's numbered Greek dictionary, "Sabbatismos, sab-bat-os-mos', a sabbatism, i.e. the repose of Christianity." "Repose" is a calm or peace that comes over you when you place all your trust in Christ. When you accept Christ, you are in Him, and He becomes your sabbath. Your work then of planting seeds of the Word is seven days a week, and there isn't one day set aside, but all days are set aside for Christ. You rest in Christ, because He is your rest. A day cannot bring you rest, only God can. Hebrews 4:10 "For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His."When you have entered into the rest that is in Christ, then you cease from doing the sinful works of the flesh that is of the world. The focus of what you do is for the glory of God, not of your own self gratification, or worldly gain

Italy AND EAST-C 4th "It was the practice generally of the Easterne Churches; and some churches of the west...For in the Church of Millaine (Milan);...it seems the Saturday was held in a farre esteeme... Not that the Easterne Churches, or any of the rest which observed that day, were inclined to Iudaisme (Judaism); but that they came together on the Sabbath day, to worship Iesus (Jesus) Christ the Lord of the Sabbath." "History of the Sabbath" (original spelling retained), Part 2, par. 5, pp.73, 74. London: 1636. Dr. Heylyn. Italy - Milan "Ambrose, the celebrated bishop of Milan, said that when he was in Milan he observed Saturday, but when in Rome observed Sunday. This gave rise to the proverb, 'When you are in Rome, do as Rome does.'" Heylyn, "The History of the Sabbath" (1612) Orient And Most Of World"The ancient Christians were very careful in the observance of Saturday, or the seventh day...It is plain that all the Oriental churches, and the greatest part of the world, observed the Sabbath as a festival...Athanasius likewise tells us that they held religious assembles on the Sabbath, not because they were infected with Judaism, but to worship Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath, Epiphanius says the same." "Antiquities of the Christian Church," Vol.II Book XX, chap. 3, sec.1, 66. 1137,1138. Abyssinia - Remnants of Philip's Evangelism"In the last half of that century St. Ambrose of Milan stated officially that the Abyssinian bishop, Museus, had 'traveled almost everywhere in the country of the Seres' (China). For more than seventeen centuries the Abyssinian Church continued to sanctify Saturday as the holy day of the fourth commandment." Ambrose, DeMoribus, Brachmanorium Opera Ominia, 1132, found in Migne, Patrologia Latima, Vol.17, pp.1131,1132. Arabia, Persia, India, China"Mingana proves that in 370 A.D. Abyssinian Christianity (a Sabbath keeping church) was so popular that its famous director, Musacus, travelled extensively in the East promoting the church in Arabia, Persia, India and China." "Truth Triumphant,"p.308 (Footnote 27). (Page numbers vary in this Online version) Spain - Council Elvira (A.D.305) Canon 26 of the Council of Elvira reveals that the Church of Spainat that time kept Saturday, the seventh day. "As to fasting every Sabbath: Resolved, that the error be corrected of fasting every Sabbath." This resolution of the council is in direct opposition to the policy the church at Rome had inaugurated, that of commanding Sabbath as a fast day in order to humiliate it and make it repugnant to the people. SpainIt is a point of further interest to note that in north-eastern Spainnear the city of Barcelona is a city called Sabadell, in a district originaly inhabited. By a people called both "Valldenses" and Sabbatati." Persia-A.D. 335-375 (40 Years Persecution Under Shapur II) The popular complaint against the Christians-"They despise our sungod, they have divine services on Saturday, they desecrate the sacred the earth by burying their dead in it." Truth Triumphant," (Online Version p. 261) Persia-A.D.335-375 "They despise our sun-god. Did not Zorcaster, the sainted founder of our divine beliefs, institute Sunday one thousand years ago in honour of the sun and supplant the Sabbath of the Old Testament. Yet these Christians have divine services on Saturday." O'Leary, "The Syriac Church and Fathers," pp.83, 84. Council Laodicea - A.D.365 "Canon 16-On Saturday the Gospels and other portions of the Scripture shall be read aloud." "Canon 29-Christians shall not Judaize and be idle on Saturday, but shall work on that day; but the Lord's day they shall especially honor, and as being Christians, shall, if possible, do no work on that day." Hefele's "Councils," Vol. 2, b. 6. (See an online version of this council on the Roman Catholic New Advent website - see Canon 29)

For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
Colossians 2:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
Do men doing it necessarily make it of God? Just something to think about.

I don't think I understand what you're getting at.Some denominations teach that Sunday is the Lords day, however they cannot back that up... some say look Paul asked for tithing on Sunday. Others say Jesus rose up on Sunday, and that's why they do it. It is documented that the Catholic Church stated in there writing that it was her act (her as in the Catholic Church) replaced Saturday with Sunday as the Sabbath. And again theologians all agree there is nothing to imply or suggest that the Sabbath was changed or done away with, and here now is also historical evidence from men in the faith? Why is this so hard to accept?and time and time again i hear the same think said "I think this" or "I think That".

I don't think anything, I posted two verses. Simply because some group (of men/women) choose to worship one way does not mean that's how I worship. I try to do my best to follow Colossians 2.Colossians 2:16
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
What folks don't understand is that they aren't the judge. If you firmly believe one way or another, fair enough. But once you've said your peace, and it's not accepted, time to move on. This is perhaps directed at some other members here more than yourself, but I find that some folks cannot let go of this topic. They'll post in other topics and carry on all day long about it.

why don,t you say this is what you think .do not say this is the way it is..because i know you are wrong or should i say i believe you are wrong..rev 12 :17 rev 14:12 says that there is a understanding for a people that keep the commandments of god and the testamony of christ..this is plain in exact words..jesus never ever said he has become the sabbath referred to in the forth commandment

Denver,Colossians 2:16 is talking about the ordinances. Please examine the verse and note that it is talking about new moons and meats and drinks est. the holyday it is referring to there are the feast and festival rest days that was handed down to them. you also said. What folks don't understand is that they aren't the judge. If you firmly believe one way or another, fair enough.my responce ot that is thisEph 4:5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 2Pe 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. as the verses above say we sould strive to be one Denver. if i should as if was coming down on you please forgive me i was not, i was simply asking a few questions.
