Question- Have some of the traditions and doctrines of mankind been add to the Religion of Christianity. I believe so. An example would be things that are affiliated with Christmas and Easter practices are tied directly and indirectly to pagan and heathen practices before they were incorporated into the observances of these holiday. Some Christians have added to the religion by fusing non-Scriptural practices to the religion. Have we allowed the clean and holy to be mixed with the unclean and profane? Have we allowed the enemy to introduce his lies of guile to cloud the truth? What about any others you might have knowledge of that can be addressed and discussed.

Yes, you need look no futher than the doctrine of salvation, given at Pentecost, but now replaced by "pray the sinners prayer", "confess the nicene creed", "give your heart to Jesus" etc and you are "saved".

Well to be honest, I can't say against Christmas for I do not know much...considering that Christ ministry is 3½ years. And since Christ ministry ended at Passover as He is our Passover. It is most likely that His date of birth is not on December 25th, that much I do know.As for Easter, yes, I can't celebrate it at all...It is truly mixed with Passover and nowhere in the bible speaks of Easter. It is only a man-made holiday.

There is one instance were Easter is mentioned in the Bible. In Acts but it was King Herod mentioning he was going to kill Paul in public at Easter time. IT was nothing to do with Christians celebrating it. As for Christmas it was also added. It was celebrated long before Christ and is not his birthday. Luke 2:7-8And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. This could not occur during the winter time. So in fact Jesus was not even born in winter. Furthermore a little more about Christmas The word "Christmas" means "Mass of Christ" or, as it later became shortened, "Christ-Mass." It came to us as a Roman Catholic mass. And where did they get it? From the HEATHEN celebration of December 25th, as the birthday of Sol the SUN GOD! It is, actually, an ancient rite of BAALISMIt is not so much as MENTIONED anywhere in the New Testament. It was never observed by Paul, the apostles, the early true Christian Church! The idea that Jesus was born December 25th, is one of the FABLES the Apostle Paul prophesied (II Tim. 4:4) would deceive the world in these latter days. The plain truth is, Christmas is NOT Christ's birthday at all! And this festival, important as it seems to so many, is not of Christian, but of pagan — Babylonish — origin!

I was always taught that at Christmas we celebrate the birth of Jesus as opposed to celebrating his actual birthday.

Easter is not actually used in the Bible, the word rendered Easter is actually Pashta which (obviously) means Passover. This is a prime example of where the doctrines of men crept into even the KJV translators (as good as they were). There are numerous examples in various denominations of rituals, incantations, and so on that are examples of things contrived for worship.

Well, that's a good thing. Few folks acknowledge that anymore. For sake of convenience it seems that many have made Dec. 25th his day of birth. So my answer would be a definite yes. However, I do caution that the truth really does remain if you seek it out.

Christmas(santa), Easter(bunny), is definitly not in the Bible! Seems like Satan was in the working on both of these....anything to get our mind away from the real celebration....JESUS!

Funny. Paul spoke in tongues and instructed others to do so as long as they follow the rules. Its funny how some things are fulfilled and done away with and other things are not. When was wisdom fulfilled? Knowledge? Faith? Healing? Why were these gifts not fulfilled. Why is tongues the only gift of God done away with?1 Corinthians 14:18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.

Acts 12:1-41 Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth [his] hands to vex certain of the church.2 And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.3 And because he saw it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also. (Then were the days of unleavened bread.)4 And when he had apprehended him, he put [him] in prison, and delivered [him] to four quaternions of soldiers to keep him; intending after Easter to bring him forth to the people.Herod was not a Jew he was pagan. He was not referring to passover. Passover is only one night followed by "the days of unleavened bread". Thus Passover was already finished. Herod was referring to the pagan festival of Ishtar (easter). Therefore, "Easter" in Acts 12:4 is the correct translation.

Whether the KJV translators put Easter or not, (although the Greek word (Πάσχα) Pascha is indeed referring to Passover) it doesn't change the fact that Easter is a pagan holiday.Whether Passover or Easter is used...it doesn't change anything at all, because I can see both sides of view are correct (if they are viewing as Easter as pagan holiday)

Paul said tongues is not for speaking to men.It is speaking to God ("prayer"):-"he that speaks in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. He . . . edifieth himself . . .if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also."I agree.Do you?

1 Cor 14:5I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified.

Thanks!DonniePlease focus on the underline words...Acts 2:6 - Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.Acts 2:8 - And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?Acts 2:9-11 - Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.You see DONNIE, any language other than your home language (Your first language) (wherein you/we/they are born) is a foreign language.

1 Corinthians 141Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. 2For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.IMHO you are wrong. Why do away with one of the gifts of god?
