How can a person get to know God? Is God known through Scripture? Does study increase our intimate personal knowledge with God. Can I know Him through my intellect by coming to understand Him?Is God known through prayer? Does praying give us the means to more of God? What is the true sure means of knowing God? How do I interact and relate with God?

Jesus tells us that it is the Scripture that tells of Him, meaning of course the Old Testament and the many prophecies of His coming. Now we have a New Testament that tells us of Him, His ministry, and His incredible deeds of love for mankind. We are also told that every word of Scripture is inspired directly from God, se we can logically conclude it is the absolute truth, also directly from God.Keep in mind that there is no other source of "God-breathed" truth for us to rely on. Therefore, our course is obvious. While our initial belief in Jesus most often comes from hearing about Him and wanting to be with Him, it becomes our Christian duty to learn more about Him so that we might better be enabled to tell others of His glory, and maybe plant the seed that will be nurtured by God and ultimately lead them to Him.Our "job" is to plant seeds of Jesus. Let God do the growing, while we concentrate on the planting.Rank Stranger

manichunter, Since the Holy Bible is the WORD of GOD, there is no way that is better to learn of God than to read His word, REGULARLY, everyday, Ps 1:1-3. Prayer is a must, to draw close to our Heavenly Father. One of the first thing we should o is to learn what God's personal name is, then use it in our prayers. After all how many good friends do you have where you never use their personal name??? God had His name recorde in HIS Bible over seven thousand times. Most translations have changed God's personal name to either of two Titles, God or Lord. God's PROPER or PERSONAL NAME is JEHOVAH, Ps 83:18 KJV. Another very important thing: We must be willing to obey God's commands, or we will NEVER understand His purpose, Dan 12:10, Prov 8:17, Prov 28:5,9, Matt 13:13-16, James 4:7,8, John 15:10, Rom 12:2, 1Thes 5:21.

Manichunter,You are right in all of the above -- God can be known by Scripture because He is the Word, and the Bible is His message to us; He can be known through studying His Word, because it helps us to see the whole picture of who He is and what He is saying to us; and He can be known through prayer. It is a combination of all of the above. Just doing one or the other will help, but it won't give you the maximum benefits.I would suggest that you read the Bible every day, and pray before you read it that God would open your eyes to see who He is and what He wants you to do. He will show you. Also, study who the Christ is (for example, "in Him," "by Him," etc. If you have a Bible program for the computer, you can search easily for it. If not, try a concordance, particularly Strong's).As for interaction, that is where prayer comes in. Most people think that you need to use elaborate words, but prayer is simply talking to God, just like you would to a friend. It is a relationship builder between us and God. He is our Father, and we should strive to have a good relationship with Him, just as we would a dear friend. When I pray, I tell God everything -- my hopes, my fears, my heartaches, my frustrations, my joys, etc. God is much more than a friend, because I can go to Him and pour out my heart to Him, whereas I wouldn't tell some people the things that I tell Him. God wants us to communicate with Him like that, honestly. And if you will do that, God will talk to you, too; So, yes, you can get more of God through prayer. However, like I said before, don't just pray and then do no more; read the Bible and study, too. If you are faithful in this, you will get to know God better, Manichunter. I promise.:read:

I believe it is a sweet and mysterious combination of a few things. God's Word, prayer, and our willingness to receive Him (and obey). No specific references, but the Bible is full of them! hehe.

There is a danger that in studying scripture we get to know about God rather than knowing God. For this we need to pray scripture. There is a method called Lectio Divina (Divine Reading). We read a passage of scripture several times allowing it to sink in, then we meditate on it, perhaps just a phrase from it. relating it to our own life. Then we pray into that, thanking God for what he has revealed to us. Thats a very brief explanation.

The truth is here :Listen to JESUS :-“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6: 33-34) 1 Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2and he began to teach them saying: 3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God. 10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.(Matthew 5:1-12)That why JESUS teach “THE LORD”9"This, then, is how you should pray: " 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11Give us today our daily bread. 12Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. (Matthew 6: 9-13)And JESUS reminded all of us that we MUST BE BORN AGAIN OF WATER AND SPIRIT BY THE AUTHORITY IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH WHICH WAS GIVEN TO HIS CHURCH “IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER AND OF THE SON AND OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (MATTHEW 28:18-20)MAY GOD BLESSAMENFROM WATT
