God's idea of love is to put the other person first before yourself. It is always thinking of and looking out for the best interests and well being of the other person. It is not like man's love where we say we love someone but our love is conditional on them behaving right or doing what we believe is right. God's love is based on nothing more than God chose to love us - no strings or conditions attached. God's love put Jesus on the cross for us, raised Him from the grave for us and seated Him as our Lord and Saviour for us so that man could return God's love to God. God's love is about God putting us first in all His thoughts, deeds and plans. God's love is true love.

Here are a few Scriptures that agree...1John 4:10In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.1 Corinthians 134 Love suffers long [is patient] and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part.10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.(If you really want to know what love is, I would suggest that you study this chapter thoroughly to get a good understanding of what it means...)John 13:34 "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another."Here, we see that to love according to Jesus is loving people like He loves us.John 14:15 "If you love Me, keep My commandments.John 15:9 "As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love."John 15:10 "If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love."John 15:12 "This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you."John 15:13 "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends."You see, if we abide in Christ, we automatically have His love toward others because He is love, and His love "has been shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us." (Romans 5:5) And if we abide in Him we are also keeping His commandments, which shows our love for Him...I hope this helps.

love is God and God is love. Everything else is an immutation of love. Some immutations are better than others (benelovence) and some immutations are completely false (lost).
