We are living in perilous times. At the end of this age (like right now) there will be (is) a great apostasy.

God will seem to be giving people what they want...and how they want it. But it will be delusion. Strong delusion.

2 Thes. 2:5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Jesus also warned us of these times...

Mat. 24:24 For there shall arise false christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Yes, false anointings and self-appointed religious leaders that seem to teach basic truths...

This is an end time phenomenon. God will have grown tired of all the iniquity that people refuse to be purged from. So He will recompense on the heads of those who resist the truth...by seeming to give them what they lust after. And what do men lust after?

Security and a false sense of salvation...at the expense of truth and reality.

And this brings us to Rev. 10 and the little book.

Rev. 10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
2 And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,
3 And cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth: and when he had cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.
4 And when the seven thunders had uttered their voices, I was about to write: and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Seal up those things which the seven thunders uttered, and write them not.
5 And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven,
6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:
7 But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
8 And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
9 And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
10 And I took the little book out of the angel's hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
11 And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

Just an in the parable of the sower...

Mat. 13:5 Others fell on the rocky places, where they did not have much soil; and immediately they sprang up, because they had no depth of soil.

20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Now normally these people would fall away from the Lord and return to the world. And until the end times...that is just what they did.

But what if these were put in charge of the church? What if these became prophets and teachers....and changed the message to suit the "quick-fix" and "fast food" mentality? What if the gospel was altered and subverted to fit THESE people?

What happens when God no longer defends the truth in churches that essentially are not led by the Spirit in the first place? It's a free-for-all.

Literally...the gospel becomes a free-for-all. God is out of the picture.

In the early church lying before God was punishable by death. Take Ananias and Sapphira. But that is when God is leading the church....not men. Who really wants such a terrible consequence to a holy God anyway?

So we have settled for far less than the truth...and God has obliged us. The tragedy is among those who are truly seeking the Lord and His ways.

There is a mystery at work. It is the mystery of lawlessness. And the culprit is the misuse of grace.

There is iniquity that is NOT being forsaken. There is a holy standard that is no longer being taught or respected.

Sadly, many of us, were not raised with church. Many were deceived and misled by church. Praise our Father for helping us find him before it was too late.

Man's love of money has defiled many of them, and the devil found his way in, destroying young lives in the vilest way.

Repent, forgive, love, repeat.

Here is a consequence of not forsaking iniquity...

Is. 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Does this sound a little like the little book?

People who do this have taken the kingdom of God out of it's own context and reduced it to their own understanding....thereby inverting the truth through subversion.

Phil. 3:17 Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us. 18 For many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, 19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things. 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;

Enemies of the cross? Do these not look to Jesus to save them because of the cross? Yes, of course. But they resist the cross themselves...as in...dying to this world. They continue to worship their country and political affiliations. They set their mind on earthly things. If we love the world...the love of God is not in us.

The sweet in the little book is the glory...the bitter is the shame. The end result for a race that is not run according to the ways of God...is bitterness and shame.

We are to seek the Lord of heaven...that we might know Him and the power of His resurrection AFTER being made conformable to His death.

Of course the ones who this applies to will not heed any warnings that would save them...they consider it foolish that they could lose what they think they already have. But Jesus said...

Matthew 13:12 For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that he has. (or thinks he has)

Hebrews 11:7
[7] By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

Luke 9:54-56
[54] And when his disciples James and John saw this , they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? [55] But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. [56] For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them . And they went to another village.

Hebrews 12:24
[24] And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.

What does Abel speak?

Exodus 15:24-25
[24] And the people murmured against Moses, saying, What shall we drink? [25] And he cried unto the Lord ; and the Lord shewed him a tree, which when he had cast into the waters, the waters were made sweet: there he made for them a statute and an ordinance, and there he proved them,

John 4:10
[10] Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

John 7:37-38
[37] In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. [38] He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

Yes, so many are being led under the guise of truth, but in fact by their own versions of Ananias and Sapphira. Too many being so led don't really care enough to get away from their own delusions. It is so easy to sit and say to yourself: I am already "saved" so no matter what happens I need never fear again.

A background in the Scriptures is very valuable; we all as individuals need to dig into the Scriptures afresh, by God's grace.

There is an amazing parallel to this warning (which few if any will heed) found in Zech. 5 with the "flying scroll."

One one side of the scroll is written....the thieves will be cut off. This fits with Jesus' saying that they who seek to enter to the sheepfold (the church) but without going THOUGH Jesus...are thieves.

On the other side of the scroll is written the warning....they who swear falsely shall be cut off. This is the taking of the Lord's name in vain...as in...Lord Lord, we did many wonderful works in Your name.

Getting back to the parable of the sower...what is the stoney (rocky) believer offended at?

Well things are not as ideal as he first thought. Jesus didn't promise us an easy life...but the power to overcome it.

So then what is the shallowly joyful believer really offended at? Jesus. The truth. The Way. The Life.

People stumble over Jesus. The flesh cannot grasp Him and what He does...His judgments. They nare offensive to the flesh.

Mat. 11:6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

And one of the only statements about disciples in the OT concerns this very thing.

Is. 8:13 Sanctify the Lord of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.
16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
