19:16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

Matthew 19:17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Jesus, when asking "why callest thou me good", was asserting his diety. Jesus was telling him to keep the commandments. Jesus did not come to destroy the law. Matthew 5:17

19:18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

19:20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?

19:21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

Jesus was telling him to sell all he had in order to enter the kingdom of heaven; the prophetic, Davidic kingdom on earth, promised Israel. Selling possessions would be a stipulation to enter the kingdom, and lay up treasure; treasure stored in heaven, and given at his coming. Revelation 5:10 Matthew 13:44 Luke 18:24 Luke 12:32-33

19:22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.

19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Jesus, in this account, by his words, is talking of Israel entering into the kingdom at his coming.

Now that's really stretching it.

What Jesus was telling this rich young ruler indirectly was (a) I am God, (2) you can do no good thing to *inherit* (or earn) eternal life, and (3) unless you forsake your idol of wealth you cannot be saved.

After the Second Coming, every Jew must enter into the Kingdom of God through repentance and faith, which leads to the New Birth. Only one-third of all Israel will be saved at that time.

No one inherits the Kingdom of Heaven. All must enter in through the New Birth, having repented and believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, and received Him as Lord and Savior. All are saved by grace through faith, apart from good works or the works of the Law.

JOHN 3
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

When Christ returns at His Second Coming, He will cause all the Jews from around the world to come to Israel, where they will see Him visibly, weep and mourn because of their unbelief, repent, and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. As a result they will be born again (under the New Covenant) and then enter into the Davidic Kingdom on earth. Even then, some will rebel and be damned. It is all there in the Bible.

Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
