I don't doubt that our conclusions would be similar, but that does not mean that those ppl are being intentionally deceptive or even that I am somehow "against" them now. They boldly add to Acts 2:38, so imo we had all the warning we needed right
I found that none of the Charismatics I've been around were out to deceive anyone. But fervently believe what they believe. The problem is they've been fed a line dating back to a bunch of hicks at Azusa Street, that make them feel superior to the "run of the mill" Christians. And they divide themselves off from the rest of the church. And this shows up in a general tone of spiritual pride.

So then as you say it shows up, nothing is hidden, and no one is coerced or hurt, and many are brought to see by it. It got us to "here"

I am persuaded that something special happened at Azusa St although I guess there is quite a bit of hooey to wade through, and I wonder if the "special" did not come mostly from the earnestness of the sheep in that peculiar moment in time, manifesting the Spirit in a way that just couldn't really be accurately reported, something like that

If you love the truth (Jesus) you will put his word first in every matter. You have no scripture to support tongues being for today.
1 Cor. 14:39 Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues.

But that's about immaturity. There are many more gifts and faculties from the Lord that could puff up the carnal believer.

Paul also said tongues will cease when the perfect (complete) arrived. Tongues were fragments of NT scripture being written. NT scripture is the completed product.

If it was genuine, it would have been world wide involving the whole church. Not just a few hicks who knew less about Acts than most Sunday school kids.

You do not understand tongues any more than the averages Charismatic does.

You believe what you want. I don't believe in tongues today. They were done away with when the scriptures we're completed. I disagree with your interpretation of the scriptures concerning tongues. The scriptures are very specific, written down in black and white. The gift of tongues was one of the gifts that proved the Christian congregation was the organization The True God Jehovah was working through instead of the Jewish system with it's temple and sacrificial alter. Tongues was also a gift used in the furtherance of the preaching of the kingdom of God. Specifically tongues we're for convincing the unbeliever not the believer. Unbelievers were not given the gift of interpretation of tongues

Don't be duped into thinking you speak in tongues by mindless babbling. Anyone can and many often do this to blow of steam but it is not biblical tongues.

My Pentecostal web site is now approaching 1.7 million views. I have had views from all around the world including China, this site is now worldwide.

She was not speaking in biblical tongues. Biblical tongues were NT scripture being written and ceased with the Apostles who distributed the gift. About the time scripture was complete.

You do not seem to understand Charismatics and Pentecostals are are different. Just like mainstream Pentecostals are not WOF.

Do you really believe that our New Testament was originally given as tongues?
Partially. Paul said they spoke mysteries. And tongues and prophecy were the only New Covenant words we had at the time. The rest was all OT. Some wrote Jesus' earlier words, and Paul who spoke in tongues more than all brought new revelations as did John.
