I was just wondering, as I see some of our threads here are 14 pages long x 20 posts a page...
Has coming to this forum, and reading other people's posts , thoughts, and argument ever changed your mind on what you perviously believed?

If we all come with a closed mind, what good do we do for each other? o_O

I think in all the years that I have been here, I have only seen about two people mentioned that they have learned something from someone else!

I can say - I HAVE. There are about five brothers over the years ( some no long posting) but some still here, that I have learned from , and have caused me to 'pause'.
I do get blessed and challenged my some of the posters. :)
Thank you.

I learned something on another site from one poster. What mainly happens with me is when I'm responding to a post, the Holy Spirit will suddenly enlighten me on something that I never knew before as I'm typing. That has happened over and over. Each time it happens, I pull up one of my word documents I've called "thoughts" and save it into my computer.

The questions posted were just "teasers." The real mental activation comes from the lengthy and much deeper treatment of each of those questions inside the book. (The frivolous "Yes" and "No" answers given here were a bit of a disappointment at how little some people actually think.)
And that is what I learned... These aren't "yes or no" questions. Some questions cannot be answered fully with "yes or no". Ultimately, you might be able to come to a yes or no.but as a quick hit "witnessing" type deal... Can't be done.

Amen!
I too have read things from some here which have “quickened” within me at times.
( it makes up for the dry times on here .ha!)

But I’m not clever with the document thing...so I copy , and then, paste into email , and send it to myself!! :D
My daughter and granddaughters have tried to show me how to do documents. But it just doesn’t “stick” with me.

They are tough questions and I can see how most all of us could not give a definitive answer as that would take like, forever! It is a great study to do on our own and I want to save these questions for a few friends to see what they all have to say...maybe have them at my house and take one question at a time...would be a VERY interesting Bible Study...

You will find that your continual attack on Catholics, Mormons, Calvanists etc are against the rules. Obviously we can post against a doctrine..but not tell the person themselves that they themselves are wrong.
I had to re-read the rules myself the other day to find if I had broken any.

I read this :-
QUOTE...
[*]Do not attack another member's character in any way. Address the post content, not the member's character, family, denominational affiliation or any other subject that may be perceived as a personal attack by the Christianity Board team and is not germane to the topic or post at hand.
[*]Do not state or imply that another member or group of members who have identified themselves as Christian are not Christians. If there is an issue where a member seems to have circumvented the basic tenants of the faith in order to join the community, please privately contact the Christianity Board Team to voice your concern. etc etc

Just saying...

I think about half the posts would just disappe

Yes. That is why I once recommended the book by John Powell, "Why Am I Afraid to Tell You Who I Am?" One of my first instructors in psychology gave me the copy I still own.

Forgot about that one. That was a good book.

Not my problem :)

John goes on to describe in some detail the Holy City, New Jerusalem, that will come down out of heaven from God.
He says, “the city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width;… fifteen hundred miles; its length and width and height are equal” (Revelation 21.16).

Now, how you can make any other shape but square out of that I don't know.
A pyramid would work. Or even a squared dome, for all that.

Myself, I don't feel the need to fill in too many details. I'm looking for a literal city, yes, but I don't assume a shape, only a size, and I don't make assumptions about the new heavens and the new earth. I'm expecting the New Jerusalem to be perfectly at home in the new creation.

Much love!

Scripture clearly says “were saved thru water” sooooo what you are preaching is OPPOSITE of Scripture.

FWIW . . . I think the point is, they went "through the water" like everyone else, but instead of being destroyed, like eveyone else, they were saved, because they were in the ark.

But again . . . fwiw . . . baptism does save us.

Much love!

Agree...Abraham looked ahead for it...those of Hebrews 11 also looked ahead ..it is as a City adorned like a bride , sound like a spiritual not literal city to me..but others have their own views. :)

And there are many many Scriptures that compare a city and a person.

"A man without self control is like a city without walls", there's one I like to keep in mind.

"And afterward, you shall be called the city of righteousness". That one, I think God gave to me, to tell me that He will in fact perfect me in self control.

Meanwhile, let's plan a walk down main street heaven!

Much love!

Oh, and to answer your question, yes, I have changed my mind sometimes due to forum interactions.

My rapture and eschatology views have changed. Soteriology has remained pretty much the same. And I've become much better at spotting Logical Fallacies.

And I've come to understand that there truly are deceivers masquarading as true believers, who are at once deceiving and being deceived.

Much love!

Love this thread. :)
Personally it has not changed what I believe. It has helped me learn things as a young Christian, it has made me study more. It basically makes me hungrier, to do/know our Father's will. Be content knowing we do try.

There are some here with no humility. Smart people, full of knowledge but always have to finish with a remark that makes what they say seem trivial; no matter how informative, correct or otherwise the post is/was. We are human, it happens. If I have offended anyone, please forgive me. It is never my intent.

Thank you @"ByGrace" you are always kind to me. Great thread!!! :)

Some of my views on a variety of things have changes considerably, not from reading forum posts necessarily, but from being influenced by many HATE posts deriding people and organizations, to finally start going to the actual sources, themselves, rather than just listening to the prejudices of the outside "reporters" of what those sources believe in.
