You know you're getting old when it's 8 pm the phone rings and the person calling says;
Did I wake you.

You know you're getting old when you can successfully hide your own Easter eggs, then can't find them.

Good posts . :)

I think the worst of getting old is NOT SLEEPING well. Max time asleep 2 hours at any given time. Some nights not even two hours. :(

Hisman,,,,,,
Are you talking about ME????????????????????

I believe this sleeplessness hit us all in later life.
I have not yet anyone above 65 that still sleeps 8 hours per night!

Any takers here?

I don't sleep as long as I used to. I don't go to bed before about 12:30 and then am awake by 8:30 but wake every couple of hours. That's a good night, but sometimes I go to bed at my usual time and know straight away that I won't be able to sleep. So instead of just lying there I get up, wrap myself in my cuddly throw and either open the laptop on read until I fall asleep on the sofa. It doesn't bother me any more now that I don't have to get up with the alarm.

Gulp, I usually sleep 10+ per night.

Well well , very pleased to meet you sir.
I will mark you up as someone special :)

Does it just happen, or do you have any tricks up your sleeve for it?
If you have a wife, does she also sleep long hours?

I hope you give thanks to the Lord as soon as you open those eyes in the morning!

God bless you...I can see He already is.

My wife sleeps really well and I must wake her up every morning (gently). I work-out 6 days a week and am usually pretty tired from that and go to bed as early as 7:00 or 8:00 every evening. In the summer we also ride bike about 10 miles a day. Working on the house keeps me pretty tired by the end of the day. But I sleep well and wake-up naturally around 5:00 for bible study.

I know the feeling; although some of us lead hectic lives sometimes and it's no effort to get to sleep and a big effort to rise... :)

Not this one! When I sleep with my bipap I sleep well but when I wake I wake to move forward even though the darkness tells me I should still be sleeping. My sleep is likely to be in bits and pieces! [I am 75.]

Wow........ before [old age set in ] I would go to bed,,,,,, maybe 11:30 ? get up at 7:00 and then old age came and I now go to bed at 10:00 and wake up at 12: and lay there for a hour and then fall asleep after laying there for some times a half hour and other times one hour , and by 5 am I am awake and lay there for half a hour or more and then get up ....I was told this happens because in the afternoon I take a nap ! which lasts only 20 min.
I lay there trying to fall asleep for half a hour. again old age sure changes things..

It seems the older we get, the less sleep we need! How are you doing Grams?

I sleep well most nights but I don't worry any more about being awake at all hours. If I can't sleep I won't just lie there but I get up and read or do something else. And usually I'm fine after only a few hours sleep and then every now and again I find myself involuntarily napping on and off all day - catching up. Funny though, usually if I try to nap I can't.

I can't nap to save my life! Never could. Too high energy I think...would be nice to expend that energy in ways I used to! And yes Pearl, you choose wisely to not just lay there tossing and turning. I'll turn to prayer or reading when I can't sleep. ♥

Well here is my confession time.

When I can't sleep, which is almost every other night ( not that I dont drop off I do, but in 20 mins wide awake again. So I do the usual, pray, recite all the scriptures that I have learned by heart..count backward from 500...and it that hasn't done it...I reach for my iPad, read this Site if nothing going on, I check Facebook ...then maybe answer some emails.

By then it is about 1.30am, so the then  play the Big Fish Game ,that all our family play!! (My one daughter is winning she is now on some Caribbean Island.. 8 countries ahead of me )
I have done Sydney, Tokyo , San Fransisco, New York , and I am now half way through Paris. I have 1000 coins, 48 green diamonds, 1,000000 bricks, 500,000 blue hats, and 4,000 but still cannot do the game #113 in Tokyo. I keep going back there to try again and again...
Then, after all that...it is now 4am and I try sleeping again...which I do, but wake up about every 20mins.

That is my "sleepless" schedule every other night!!

Now you know my secret ...my passion is gardening, but not in the dark, so that doesn't work for me. :D :D

Not really a secret Helen, I see the times of some of your posts, and know that you were not sleeping well.
That's an awful lot of things to go through to fall asleep! Ah games, I haven't played an online game in over a year! It used to be, I was hooked on them! I do miss playing some of them and, maybe I will find one or two on King.com.

Can't you get outside lights? :D

It takes longer now to get going sometimes in the mornings...or it feels as if it ought to...
