My guess is that the animals had already started dying--possibly even massive die-offs. God could simply have taken the skins of already dead animals to clothe Adam and Eve.

So you believe death is already in operation, which means sin already existed.

I believe it did all because Satan had already rebelled.

No, no, no no!! :D
That doesn't line up as any for-runner of anything God did..sound very yukky to me..why would the animals have died? Adam had only just sinned.

Literal death did not start in Eden...but spiritual death did.

m sure you will disagree, it is a too far reach for most people who were traditionally told they were animal skins, even though it does not say that, as you pointed out. :)
No... I don't disagree. In fact it is exactly what I believe. I am just sticking to the point (for now) the the coats of skin were MADE by God. He didn't take them from an animal.

I believe physical and spiritual death already exist. But Adam and Eve had not yet committed the sin that caused death.

But that is another topic.

When you skin and animal you have to cure the hide and then you make coats, etc.

Not a farm boy, huh?
I am aware of that... But you are making up things as you go. It doesn't say any of that.

No, what I meant was that, from the moment God pronounced His curse on the earth, the animals started to die-off.

No I'm not. I am just dealing with facts and reality.

Verses don't say anything either way.
Again, it doesn't say God made coats of skin? You are saying he killed them, cured them and taylored them.

I am saying God made them.

That's not what the Hebrew says--it says, "Dying, you will die..." The process of death started from the moment of that decree. Interestingly, Isaiah insists that in the Millennial Kingdom, long life will return and the "lion will lie down with the lamb" and neither will there be any killing at all.

...with all this back and forth about "skins, animals or no skins" ( which has been fun...my post #150 obviously being the true answer :) )

I guess we should get back ON TOPIC being...Cain and Abel.
Unless @Butterfly is happy with the answers we all gave her...(If she's not totally confused by them. :D )

Wonderful day in the garden working...it has made me feel 10 years younger tonight!!

Since I believe in Pre-Adamic I believe that brought death into the physical world.

When Adam and Eve sinned that brought spiritual.

Which makes sense of the purpose of the tree of life. It only meant something if physical death already existed.
