Is this you?

John 1:11-13
He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Received Jesus? Believe on his name? Born of God?

If so . . . your sins are gone!

Colossians 2:10-15

And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

"handwriting of ordinances", Handwriting = chierographon =

χειρόγραφον, χειρογραφου, τό (χείρ and γράφω), a handwriting; what one has written with his own hand (Polybius 30, 8, 4; Dionysius Halicarnassus 5, 8; others); specifically, a note of hand, or writing in which one acknowledges that money has either been deposited with him or lent to him by another, to he returned at an appointed time (Tobit 5:3 Tobit 9:5; Plutarch, mor., p. 829 a. de vitand. aere al. 4, 3; Artemidorus Daldianus, oneir. 3, 40); metaphorically, applied in Colossians 2:14 ((where R. V. bond)) to the Mosaic law, which shews men to be chargeable with offences for which they must pay the penalty.

Genesis 1:1 (KJV)

A Record of Debt.

God blotted out our record of debt.

This was God's stated intention:

2 Corinthians 5:17-21
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

As God has Already reconciled the world - all of us - to Himself, that is, restored friendship with us, all that remains is for us to do likewise. To restore our friedship with the One Who reconciled us to Himself.

And having been reconciled even while we were still His enemies, how much more so now being His friends?

Romans 5:8-11
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Here's one of those KJV things . . . not atonement, or to make covering, but "katallagen", a reconciliation. Like in 2 Corinthians 5, God was in Christ reconciling "katallasson" the world.

We have now received the reconciliation.

We joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by Whom we have received the reconciliation.

And who would not rejoice?

There is therefore now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus. Who are those? You are in Christ if the Spirit of Christ lives in you. All who have come to Christ. All who are born again. Your sins are gone!

Much love!

Psalms 51:5 "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me".

Romans 3:25 "Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God".

1 John 1:5 "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1 John 1:6 "If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1 John 1:7 "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1 John 1:8 "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness".

That is conditional solvation
Of course salvation is conditional. And this has nothing to do with anyone's church teaching. It is what the Bible teaches. No where does scripture suggest that our salvation isn't granted to us without certain criteria.

The Bible is perfectly clear that eternal life is the GIFT of God, and the Holy Spirit is the GIFT of God to those who repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Those are the criteria.

But something which Christians need to keep in mind is that while all our sins were remitted when we repented and received Christ, we must also continue to address our present sins (see the first epistle of John) in order to maintain fellowship with God and Christ.

Exactly. OSAS if we meet the criteria.
This could be fun. Searching scripture for all the conditions that need to be met for salvation. Here's one...
Ro 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Ro 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

We need to die first. And this isn't talking about physical death. It is death to self. To the carnal nature. No-one enters glory if they are still alive...

Mt 10:39 He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.
Mt 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
Mr 8:35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
Lu 9:24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
Lu 17:33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
Joh 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

Doesn't sound like unconditional salvation to me. Probably the most unpopular teaching in church today, seeing as the vast majority of Christians love this world too much to give it up.

1Jo 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

Conditional salvation. Absolutely.

Here's how it works. Jesus paid for all of my sins, past, present, and future. And just as in America you cannot be punished twice for the same crime, as a Christian, I cannot be punished for any sin no matter how serious. But, in view of that, God gave me a brand new nature that loves him and hates sin. So even if free to sin, It repulses me and I love the fullness of the Spirit that comes from holiness more than anything else.

we must also continue to address our present sins (see the first epistle of John) in order to maintain fellowship with God and Christ.

1 John 1:1-2
"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."

Blessed is the man to whom God does not impute sin!

If Jesus is the propitiation for our sins - not just sins that are past, "our sins", an inclusive term - Jesus has made a satisfactory substitute sacrifice. What remains other than to simply stop sinning if we are?

Is our fellowship broken with a God Who does not condemn us?

Romans 8:33-35
"Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?"

Hebrews 8:15-16
"For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

When would be a time of need, that we would need mercy, and grace to help?

Jesus never sinned, but he was tested/tempted just the same as us, and sympathizes with our weaknesses. Infirmities in reference to temptations. So then, because of this, when we need help . . . we need mercy . . . grace . . . we can come boldly to God.

Our sins no longer separate us from God because, frankly, they are no longer actually "our" sins.

Romans 7:17-20
17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
19 For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

I'm responsible to control my flesh in the power of the Spirit, just the same, that doesn't mean I'm condemned for 'his' sin.

Much love!

These are life-changing questions if we can correctly answer them.

I speak to children of God.

Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's chosen? Answer . . . no one. Reason . . . God Himself justifies us . . . "Not Guilty".

Who condemns us? No one! Christ, having died, having risen, at God's right hand, interceding for us.

And if we are not guilty, then not guilty we are!

Much love!

1 John 1:1-2
"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."
Notice what John says "that ye [believers] sin not". What is the context?Fellowship with God. So let's put things in contextual perspective:

1 JOHN 1:3-2:3
3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

What is John telling us here? Is he not saying that we must deal with our present sins, instead of pretending that we have not sinned? And is this not connected to fellowship with the Father and the Son?

@Enoch111,

“If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.”

If this is talking about our ongoing relationship with God, and to "walk in darkness" means to engage, as a child of God, temporarily in sin, then not only do we lose fellowship with God and with each other, but the blood of Jesus stops cleansing us from sin.

If this is talking about coming into a relationship with God, then we admit our sins, seeking forgiveness, and we are cleansed.

We can say we are Christians, in fellowship with God, but if we walk in darkness, that's a lie. But if we don't walk in darkness, instead, we walk in the light, that's not a lie, and we are cleansed of all sin.

But if we look at this as that we as Christians may walk in darkness, the we are no longer cleansed from our sin.

Except . . . Romans 8 tells us there is no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus.

I don't see how we can go in and out of justification.

?

Much love!
