1 Peter 3:18 New International Version (NIV)
18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

1 PETER is not speaking of Israel. It is addressing Christian Jews.

You took Corinthian's out of context. It is a criticism.

18 I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you. 19 But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.

20 Brothers and sisters, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults. 21 In the Law it is written:

“With other tongues
and through the lips of foreigners
I will speak to this people,
but even then they will not listen to me,
says the Lord.”e]">[e]

22 Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers; prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers. 23 So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and inquirers or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?

Hi
I was only saying that tongues was a sign I was not expounding on anything about tongues because you were saying Hunt said baptism was a sign

It still stands that I was saying please show me where baptism is a sign and where Paul commands the body of Christ members be baptized.

Post 1:-

Thanks for asking. Here's how I understand the situation. Jesus is Abraham's seed along with us who believe in him. The physical unbelieving Jews are not. When Jesus abolished circumcision on the cross, physical unbelieving Israel ceased to exist after that last generation, the one the original Apostles directed their attention to, died off. Israel remained believers only in Christ.

Being gentiles with Jewish ethnicity, God grafts believers from this group back into Israel if they accept Christ. The times of the gentiles remain until the last day. Jesus says; “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world [gentiles] for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” (Matthew 24:14)

And Paul says, “And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written: The Liberator will come from Zion; He will turn away godlessness from Jacob. And this will be My covenant with them when I take away their sins.” (Romans 11:26,27)

Post 2:-
Thanks for looking into this. We are Israel (Abraham's Seed), not the broken off unbelievers who give themselves that name.
“The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.” (Leviticus 25:23)
“Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.” (Galatians 3:16)
“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20)

“This means it is not the children of the flesh who are the children of God; rather, the children of promise are counted as descendants.” (Romans 9:8)
Hello @Dave L,

I believe that Abraham's seed are the literal people of Israel, for, God said to Abraham, 'in Isaac shall thy seed (plural) be called' (Genesis 21:12): and the promises of God are without repentance:-

For I would not, brethren,
.. that ye should be ignorant of this mystery,
.... lest ye should be wise in your own conceits;
...... that blindness in part is happened to Israel,
........ until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written,

'There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer,
and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
For this is my covenant unto them,

when I shall take away their sins.' (Isaiah 59:20,21 and 27:9)
As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes:
but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.'

(Romans 11:25-29)

* Abraham has a literal 'seed' :-

'And the Redeemer shall come to Zion,
.. and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.
As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD;
.. My spirit that is upon thee,
.... and My words which I have put in thy mouth,
...... shall not depart out of thy mouth,
........ nor out of the mouth of thy seed,
.......... nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed,
saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.'

(Isaiah 59:20-21; )

'He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root:
Israel shall blossom and bud,
and fill the face of the world with fruit.'

(Isaiah 27:6)

* During the Acts period, following the opening of the door of the Kingdom to Cornelius, Gentiles were grafted into the Olive Tree of Israel, in order to promote growth in an ailing tree, and for no other purpose. For it was necessary for Israel to be saved, and to take up their divinely appointed priestly role (Exodus 19:5,6), to minister among the nations. Israel was not saved at that time, only a remnant was saved, and the rest went into the blindness of unbelief. However the promise still holds, and they will one day be saved and fulfil that priestly role allotted to them.

* At the dispensational change which took place at the end of the Acts period, Gentiles were no longer grafted into Israel, for Israel became Lo'ammi ('not My People'). However, knowledge was given to Paul, by Divine revelation concerning the dispensation which is now, in which Jew and Gentile are a joint body, equal and united in Christ, as the Church which is His Body. It is independent of Israel, made One in Christ Jesus. With a unique calling, hope, blessing and inheritance, in Him. (see Eph. Phil. Col. 1 & 2 Tim. Titus and Philemon)

* Israel's destined part in the purpose of God will be fulfilled, as will that of the Church of the One Body, of which Christ is the Head.

This does not agree with Paul. "In Isaac shall your seed (Jesus according to Paul) be called". The promises to Abraham and Jesus are irrevocable. But the physical seed lost their claims to the promises time and again through rebellion.

= two second comings = three comings.
One rapture coming before the tribulation.

One second coming at the end of the tribulation

One rapture coming at the end of time.

Only one second coming but three total comings. One to the earth and two only to the clouds.
This does not agree with Paul. "In Isaac shall your seed (Jesus according to Paul) be called". The promises to Abraham and Jesus are irrevocable. But the physical seed lost their claims to the promises time and again through rebellion.
Promises Abraham were unconditional.

The one promise was to Abraham about Jesus, not to Jesus.

You are talking replacement theology.

Hello @Dave L,

'Now I say that Jesus Christ
was a minister of the circumcision
for the truth of God,
to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
And that the Gentiles might glorify God for His mercy;

.. as it is written," For this cause I will confess to Thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto Thy name."
....
And again He saith, "Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with His People."
...... And again, "Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles; and laud Him, all ye people."
........ And again, Esaias saith,

"There shall be a root of Jesse,
and He that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles;
in Him shall the Gentiles trust."
Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
that ye may abound in hope,
through the power of the Holy Ghost.'

(Romans 15:8-13)

Thank you.
May God's perfect will be done.

Yes, and we gentiles are part of the fulfillment. The broken off Jews are now gentiles, some of which are also part of the fulfillment in Christ.

No, it shows the Rapture, which is only to the clouds, and the second coming to the earth.

Are you missing the point of two comings to the earth. First at the incarnation and the second at the end of the tribulation..
But this happens on the last day after the resurrection.

Our coming to Him is not a 2nd Coming of Christ. Ours (rapture) is heavenward, His 2nd Coming is earthbound.
