I feel so down at this moment.. I'll be playing later in a local Christian and I feel like crying. My mother and sister is currently visiting us and when she eventually found that I'm not a Catholic anymore... I was persecuted... saying that I lost my mind, stupid... and I shouldn't have converted.... I tried to explain to her that this is not about a religion.... but my mom's crying saying that my father who just recently passed away will be mad at me if he knew about this.I dunno what to do......................... My family has been a devoted Catholic ever since... please help

I am a Christian and most of my family are Catholics... Your family (especially mine) can not hear Christ and His Words if they are going to rely on a religion. If they didn't accept Christ as Saviour, that explains that they don't understand...we are going to be persecuted for His name's sake. (Luke 21:17, Matthew 10:22, Matthew 24:9) Without Christ, we can't know His Truth.I will pray for you. Pray to your family all the time in hope that they may receive Christ. Learn of Him and He shall help you...I love you.

Thanks a lot SuperJag... God Bless you! Those Bible verses uplifted me. I was talking with my wife regarding my dilemma and you just posted. We feel much better now...

Kernelspy- I completely understand this. I dont know what finally led you to leave religion and follow Christ, well yeah I do- Christ. Something I learned as a new Christian a while back- is that when I was exploring the possibilities of becoming a catholic- a lot of it seemed like the perfect mixture of Christianity. But after God opened my eyes- I saw a bunch of people "playing church" which included idolatry, prayers to other than God, and complete twisting of scripture. After I finally saw this- A good catholic friend of mine- completely turned and wanted nothing to do with me...pretty much told me to go to hell. Christ is the Word- he is not limited to paper and definitely not limited to a mere building. Like I said- to my catholic friend, my choice of following Jesus and not a building was a complete shock and disgust to him. As Jag said, all you can do is pray for them AND show them what Christianity REALLY is. Its not beads, memorized prayers, worthless statues....its following God in the footsteps of Christ. You will stand before God by yourself- dont carry the weight of these who you love any further than you have to...pray and act.

Matthew 10:37 'He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.' I speak from experience, that your relationship with your family may not ever be the same again. You may shed alot of tears over them. But, Jesus will comfort you, guide you, and love you.

Kernalspy, I also wanted to share this with you...Luke 12:49-53 "I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed! Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."

Well seeing as catholics are christians, and whatever group you left the catholics for are christians, I don't see much of a problem. As a catholic myself I congragulate you on continuing to serve christ. And I humbly apologize for your family, as we catholics unfortunatley can be very hostile to other christian groups, its shameful really. I pray that one day your parents will wake up and see that you Believe in Christ as your personal savior and are still Christian!!! and will accept you as one your brother in christRyan Fitz
