It is dead religion that chants the name "Jesus" that blinds people to the truth."if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (2 Cor. 4:3-4)"For if he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. .. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light." (2 Cor. 11)If your religion doesn't live up to the true renown of Jesus in baptising in the Holy Spirit, and delivering from evil into what God promises then his name is being taken in vain, it is an unjust weight / balance, people are being cheated.

Amen. It is important to understand salvation and also the baptising of the Holy Spirit. To teach anyone anything less than the truth on any matter is to cheat those who believe you.
Acts 19:1-6And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
They were baptized in the name of Jesus (by faith) first. This is a seperate event from what follows, indicated by the action of Paul placing his hands on them, the Holy Ghost came, and they spake in tongues and prophesied. It can clearly be seen that if Paul had not laid his hands upon them for this purpose (baptizing in the Holy Spirit), following their baptism in the name of Jesus, they would not have been baptized in the Holy Spirit and would have never spoken in tongues. They would have *only* been baptized in the name of Jesus (and saved), by faith, but never spoken in tongues.Baptism in the name of Jesus and baptism in the Holy Spirit are two different things. Tongues is not a necessary event or proof of being baptized in the name of Jesus (being saved). However, speaking in tongues is *one* proof of being baptized in the Holy Spirit. Seperate events, seperate baptisms, only ONE of which indicates salvation--that is the baptism into the name of Jesus, by faith, no tongues attached. Of course you cannot have the latter without the former... but they are not the same thing.Baptism in the name of Jesus (salvation) and baptism in the Holy Spirit are not the same thing. Just like baptism in water is not the same thing. There are different baptisms, one of which of course (and only one) is salvation--that is the baptism in the name of Jesus, or, receiving, in faith, Jesus' sacrifice for our sins.Speaking in tongues *is not* a direct result of being saved (being baptized in the name of Jesus). Speaking in tongues *is* one direct result, however, of being baptized in the Holy Spirit, and tongues certainly serves as a proof of both since the second (Holy Spirit baptism) will not come without the first (the baptism in the name of Jesus).Tongues certainly is not a requirement or a direct result of salvation. However, tongues does often follow the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which is a seperate event from being baptised in the name of Jesus Christ, as the *laying on of hands* by Paul *afterwards* shows us. The baptsim in the name of Jesus (by faith) saves us. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit empowers us for ministry. They are two seperate events; they are not the same. Tongues is not a direct result of being baptized in the name of Jesus (being saved). Tongues is a result of being baptized in the Holy Spirit. They are seperate events with seperate purposes. Not everyone who has been saved has even experienced the latter (baptizing in the Holy Spirit), but they are indeed saved by the former--grace, through faith--the baptism in the name of Jesus. That's all I'm going to say.

We are not going to have another tongue argument because there is nothing to argue Tongues simply means other natural languages of men to prophesie. That is it the entire purposes of other languages was so they could Prophesie to the world. Now what were they to Prophesie. THE WORD OF GOD. People had no scriptures to read The Word had to spread by Mouth, thus languages of men the word language didnt exist ALL ancient books secular or religious use the Word Tongues in place of language. Not Babbling un-understandable moaning.Anyone that believes this babble was the tongue spoken of is going to believe it anyone wanting to know what Tongues really means just search out the language used you will find there is no support for Babbling We receive the Holy spirit/ghost by belief and repentance period! that is the promise of God.

Agreed. We are given the Holy Spirit upon salvation to live in us and seal us when we are saved, by faith in Jesus. I should say that I don't believe the "baptism of the Holy Spirit" is the same thing as recieving the Holy Spirit. We receive the Holy Spirit the moment we believe.

TallMan, What you said is true, but there is much more to understand about what the WORLD is. The Bible tells us that Jesus said that his kingdom was no part of the world, John 18:36,37. Jesus said that his disciples would be HATED by ALL nations, Matt 10:22, 24:9. Jesus said that a slave is not greater than his master, if they persecuted him they would also persecute his followers, John 15:18-20. The Bible tells us that if we are a friend of the world we are an enemy of God, James 4:4, 1John 2:15-17. Paul also said that all who wanted to live in godly devotion along with Jesus, WILL also be persecuted, 2Tim 3:12. The Bible also tells us there is only ONE true religion, Eph 4:4-6. We are also told that many deceivers and false teachers, will be in the world, Matt 7:15,16, 2Pet 2:1-3, Acts 20:29,30. The Bible also tells us that only a few will be saved, Matt 7:13,14, Luke 13:23,24. Most people who claim to be Christian do not measure up to the requirements for a Christian, Titus 1:16, Romans 2:23,24, 1John 2:3-6, Matt 7:21-23.

I am shocked by your beginning! And fascinated by your verses. Now what I'd love to do is to define two or three places.1. the name of Jesus: the name of Jesus is the word of God (Rev19:11-16). The body of Jesus was taken up to heaven after resurrection (Ac2:32-33), and on earth the words of the Bible which are explained are Jesus himself (Lk24:25-27), the word of God our Savior (Ti2:9-10). It is true that the name of Jesus is being taken in vain, for the doctrine of men is not the name of Jesus. 2. the gospel: the word of the Lord is the gospel (1Pe1:25), the word of the gospel was in the mouth of Peter and the Holy Spirit came upon all those who were hearing the word (Ac15:7-8, 10:42-44). For the word is Jesus, and the breath Jesus speaks is the Holy Spirit (Jn20:21-22), so the word of men is not the gospel, and can't have men receive the Holy Spirit.3. another spirit: Then what is it? Read 1Ki22:19-23 a lying spirit. what is a lie before the LORD? Read Pr30:5-6 adding to the word of GOD is a lie. You see so many are doing this...
