I heard some bad news this morning.
Friend of mine received the message from her doctor: Brain Cancer.

Her husband passed away on her birthday about 14 years ago.
Two children.

Her dad passed away in her living room from a fatal heart attack.

This is so tragic. She went to university, became a professional health care worker.
Devoted her life to the two children, on her own, also adopted a boy.

Sometimes I have a problem figuring things out.
What would I do without Christ in these situations.

I am so sorry to hear this Gary. Is she a Christian?

Isaiah 48.10 says 'I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction'. The blessing for believers is to know we are chosen, rather than to avoid tribulations. The Lord Jesus said in John 16.33, 'In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world'.

Hey Gary. ( only just seen this thread)

Well brother , if anyone could have a word for her 'in due season' it would be YOU!! Having gone through all you went through ( and probably still going through from time to time)

I have so many friends who have cancer..one just died...and my close friend Mary comes every Friday for a meal and the evening ( liver cancer..chemo ever two weeks) ...

I know that none of us resent dying. "absent from the body etc..."
But I do resent the WAY that so many of my friends die. = 'Dying by inches'

As to the question..."Why".

All we can say is " Thou knoweth O Lord."

Healing, for most of us is still a bit of a mystery....and the one thing that Paul did not hardly touch on at all. Has anyone noticed that ?
He spoke of the gifts, and the gifts of healing, but nothing specific.
I have often wondered why he never addresses it ?

Yet, we read about him in Acts 19:

11 "And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them
."

So he was obviously active in healing...

This is a biggy I am sure we will have on our "Why" list when we are with the Lord.

Mothers Day was a bad one for sure.
And for many others.
Including women who have no children....

There's so much hipe about mothers days and there's more every year. Mostly commercial, to make a dollar.
For many people it's a sad day.
I woke up at 5:00 am and had flash backs to the accident scene where my wife died.
Happened all through the day.
Now it's gone again. Praise God.

Eventually we must come to that point where, though all our world crumbles in on us...

Job 13:15a (KJV) Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him:

Romans 8:38-39 (NASB) For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
