It would really be cool- if we could all use some kind of voice chat once a week or so. Like Ventrillo or Teamspeak. These are very simple programs for anyone to use- and you can have your own secure/password protected- OR- public room. Ill be willing to pay the costs if anyones with me.

Interesting, but I think I'll stick with the typing. I understood people better this way.

They still exist here...only on a couple of layouts... like 2 out of 8.

If you wanted to do that you wouldn't have to buy anything. You could use your computer as a server and have the rest of the community log onto your vent. All they would need is your IP address and the port number that you designate as the port for the voice traffic to travel over.http://www.ventrilo.com/setup.php#Server_Installingcheck under server installing... its very intuitive

Yep, I've worked with this stuff before. There are, however, two things that concern me.#1) Security is an issue. Given the nature of our website, I'm not sure this is yet another avenue that I want to add in. As a bit of a subset of this, I do run this website currently in a shared environment. I'm not really comfortable with the idea of running this alongside that.#2) You guys have made the only two requests I've had for such a service. I'm not convinced that enough people want it/would actually use it. Unfortunately, the majority of folks at this board struggle with using the forum technology, much less something like this. I'm not downing anyone, it just doesn't really cater to our market. If enough requests come in, we may take a look at something like this, but I just don't see any reason for it right now. I would like to improve upon the existing chat, though, and maybe look at some scheduled nights for us to fellowship live.

Sounds fine Denver. I just thought it would be an interesting add-on. Btw, I didnt mean it had to somehow be ran through this site- we could do it seperate for security reasons. Oh and the scheduled nights for fellowship live sounds like a really good idea.

I have had a good amount of experience with chat rooms also, in fact I have a chat room on my own forum. Chat rooms can be a real pain and, as Denver said, they are not used enough, generally, to make them worth the effert.

Why don't they want to remain there? Have you thought about it, Tom?

Yes I have thought about it. Just to start with a few: When members are from a number of time zones it can become hard to get together at a prescribed time.If the discussion is not interesting members get bored and don't return to the chat room. Many chat rooms are moderated and that takes time commitment on sometimes all ready busy schedules. Also, we have the "chatbox", how many people use it?

Thanks for your reply, Tom. May the LORD in whose hand is our breath and ways will bring more and more people to this website! I was trying to use the chatbox, but failed to find the "send" place. Just wanted to tell Denver that the speed here is REALLY fast now after the server transfer. Really appreciate his effort for the work of GOD! I will try to be more active in the days to come for the name of Jesus!Blessings!John
