I saw this question and thought it was a good one to ask. What is the purpose of debate? What have you learned personally from debating with other Christians? What is your favorite part about debating? What is your least favorite part about debating?

I guess personally I like to read the discussion at times. I don't like what feels like arguing, which I guess is debating.

Debate is two or more presenting different views and sources who LAND on different conclusions, that may or may not convince another to consider their view and source.

Favorite part; Gives the listener a different perspective to investigate.

Least Favorite part; The Topic can quickly BE shuffled aside and umpteen pages of personal snarky remarks deflect from the Topic.

Glory to God,

I felt compelled to do a little digging.

On the first form I found ScottA had been banned.

I was banned from a forum too. For mocking Benny hinn. Other men have been thrown in wells, fed to lions, beaten, crucified, beheaded. I don't know the man you are talking about, but I've seen men banned from forums for preaching the gospel. No kidding.

What is the purpose of debate?
To give your best evidence to support your side of the issue and listen to the other persons evidence. One may change their mind after learning of evidence they had never heard before.

What have you learned personally from debating with other Christians?
That no matter how much evidence you give to support what you believe some will reject that evidence and still believe they are right without explaining away the evidence you presented. I have also learned how to become a better debater and more knowledgeable about my faith.

What is your favorite part about debating?
Learning from the research I do to debate the other person.

What is your least favorite part about debating?
Once given indisputable evidence that the other person is wrong and they don't respond. The un-kind words with personal attacks the other person uses when they have lost the argument.:(

Well...the word from Paul, is that we "be silent in church." Which means, that only the Holy Spirit speaks, which is what has been foretold for our time; and would mean not everyone with a brain and a bible spouting off, but just those with the gifts of knowledge, preaching, teaching, prophecy, and discernment...and even some of those, limited to history, the scriptures, and the teachings of others, rather than their own. In other words, only that who's source is the Holy Spirit.
Hi Scott,

I love bible study and still have a lot to learn. In what verse does Paul say that we are to be silent in church? I can't find it or recall it. :(

Thank you in advance....Mary

The differences I saw he was doing the same things there he is doing here.

Once again---GIVE us the exact scripture/s that says this.
Not your words.

Scotts Point was Christians following Israel, (blindness of men who are maintaining rejection of Jesus being Christ), ARE following the Blind. Israel, (as a WHOLE) have NOT YET come into faith-FULLNES (which absolutely requires Belief IN Jesus THE Christ).

^^ THAT (Jews coming into believe in Jesus Christ IS Currently "small scale".)
^^ THAT (SHALL become LARGE scale Begins during the Seals Opening)
^^ THAT does not APPLY to Saved and Born Again men converted IN Christ Jesus. (Which many "identify" by the Label Christian.

The Opening of the first of the 7 SEALS begins the end of days Tribulation.

Souls of Them believing In God, Are SUBJECT TO the WRATH of The Lamb, for having Rejected Lord Jesus as Thee Christ.

As They LISTEN and Hear Witnesses God SENDS to them, they begin Believing in Christ the Lord Jesus, their Souls BECOME SAVED and their Bodies Become DEAD, killed By Death, having been Sent to Earth At the Opening of the 4th Seal.

This is Israel's Salvation coming to them.

Rev 6
[7] And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.
[8] And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.
[9] And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
[10] And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
[11] And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

Saved and Born Again men, regardless what Label they tout have already Overcome Death, having Accepted Christ Jesus' Offering On the Cross, and having Become Crucified in Death.
They are not On Earth, during the Opening of The SEALS .
They ARE the Same Place John was, when He was Given this Revelation.

Rev 4
[1] After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
[2] And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

INANUTSHALL ~ IF you are a Saved and Born Again Convert IN Christ Jesus.....that IN SCRIPTURE which APPLIES TO "NON-Converted IN Christ", Does not apply to You.

IOW,
IF you are STILL BLIND, follow the BLIND.
IF you ARE NO LONGER BLIND, DO NOT Follow the BLIND.

Israels BLINDNESS is IN EFFECT; is partial and temporary.

Rom 11
[25] For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
[26] And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

Glory to God,

Yes, well I still mock Benny hinn too!
I don't know the man you are talking about but I was making the point that being banned isn't always a bad thing. Quite a few forums have banned men for preaching the gospel. I've seen it happen with my own eyes.

You can't quote scriptures that back up your words, can you?
I do read the Bible that is why I am challenging you on this. Your opinions do not confirm scripture.
You are listening but not hearing.

Moreover, you are scheming in service of him who would love for the Spirit to be quenched by those living in the past and in slumber like Israel, rather than pressing on to the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

If you were of the Spirit, you would not need quotation marks, chapter and verse.

Why is it you can't post scripture? very telling.
The Holy Spirit leads us to the written word and it's righteous authority.

Matt 4:4 "Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever."

1 Corinthians 14:28
But if there is no interpreter, let him keep silent in church, and let him speak to himself and to God.

1 Corinthians 14:34
Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says.

...But do remember, if Paul was sent by Christ and if for him "to live is Christ" (as he said); and if the words of Christ "are spirit" (as He said), then the above "are spirit" "and must be discerned in spirit."

Scripture is used by the devil every bit as much the Lord. Since you don't acknowledge that you are very vulnerable to a human interpretation based on a doctrine of demons. In fact it is pretty well guaranteed. One does not stumble on truth by accident or a good guess at it. Your hostility to the Spirit and to the things of the Spirit is telling indeed.

The bible was written by the Holy Spirit and requires the same Holy Spirit to interpret it.

Jesus said that the Spirit would guide us into all truth...not the bible. And that is what the bible says...so you are in truth ignoring the bible.

The Spirit uses the bible...as does the devil and the ones he controls. So the bible does not mean the truth. The truth is in a person...Jesus Christ. The ONLY way to grasp the truth is by the Spirit. As the bible says.

See...you did it again. You read and did not know that I was quoting scripture. Indeed, very telling.

Thank you for stepping into the light.
You are not a prophet , but quite full of yourself, and you don't speak for God. Jesus warned about this phenomena in the last days. You actually sound more like one of the new age gurus.

These are they that only respond to an indoctrination by bible chapter and verse identifiers. In their minds it is the verse numbers that make truth...not the content of the text...which is unintelligible to these.

So if you post the verse in a different word structure or without chapter and verse markers...these will say...that isn't biblical. It is truly a religious psychological phenomenon.

Because he thinks he is a prophet. He has said so.

So when he speaks he is the Bible.

Why do you fear the promise of Christ coming to fruition, that He should lead us into "all truth" rather than only that which is written?

And I ask again: Do you not know that such actions are "unforgivable?"

I look forward to the promises of Christ coming to fruition.

But you are not the source of that truth and fruition.

Thank you Scott.

I knew about women keeping silent in the Church however you said the "we" (people in general) are to be silent in the Church. That was confusing to me when you used the word "we" in a general statement about keeping silent. So 1 Corinthians 14:34 has NOTHING to do with "we" keeping silent in the church. It just means that women are not allowed to preach in Church.

1 Corinthians 14:28 talks about keeping silent if there is no one to interpret what the person said. The next verse says Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. If a revelation is made to someone else sitting nearby, let the first person be silent.

So even that verse doesn't really say that we or anyone is to "keep silent in church". It allows for weighing in, letting prophets speak and instructs the first person to be silent while the other speaks.

Thank you for your time.
