I was checking out some of the articles on abortion there and the statement of faith. Carm looks like a great site. Thanks for mentioning it. A lot of good articles. I am trying to figure out where the discussion boards are. :)
If youre at the home page; carm.org on the left hand side it says 'discussion boards'. The next page under 'introduction' it says 'go to the discussion forums'. There you can find what you are interested in. Have fun. I post on both boards now. I like this one but have been on carm for over a decade so its kinda like home. And i don't want to be a sheep stealer but check it out. Have fun. I enjoy this site as well.

Hey, I started life as a Baptist too :)

I'm here bc I go where I'm sent, and I just assume I'm either here to learn some truth (iow something that I will not like) or impart some, or both
Somehow I had never posted my response to the OP on this thread, but my friend @bbyrd009 hit it pretty close for me. God sent me to learn and sometimes to impart. Thank God! He always knows what He is doing. If all of us could always follow Him, we would certainly then be one as He is One.

"There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all." Eph 4:4-6

I haven't verified this, but I think it's safe to say that Trinity goes with Death More Abundantly too, more or less. Tho i don't mean that as condemnation, the way it's likely heard. If Roman Centurion's daughters can be raised i guess anyone can. DMA and trinity are both Beliefs, no judgement for those that i can find

Just one quick pass on this so as not go off on too much of a tangent from the OP.

For some people who believe in the trinity [and/or Death More Abundantly] your words might not be offensive, but for others they can be seen as nothing but a condemnation of them. [Are they?] Hard and fast doctrines held [absolute truths known] as I see it cannot be that important to God's ultimate judgement, because too many people simply mouth the words and call them doctrinal truths that no one is allowed to question. If they cannot even explain why the Bible is on their side [or why they believe that it is] are they for their lack of understanding without any hope at all? Some of them may be, but I would not want to call the play on them. My eyes aren't good enough to be an umpire.

When I try to point people to the heart of man where God is looking without for doctrines held, I am necessarily at least wrong, but often I guess, a hopeless heretic. Even the miracles of Jesus must at times be given a step by step explanation as to why they seem to miss fitting into the condemner/accuser's mold when they might seem to discredit his pet belief... They want a flat out agreement with them, with no exceptions or excuses. Any disagreement or attempt put a hold on my final decision is unacceptable. Instantaneous absolute knowledge is a must or I am headed for a bottomless pit to burn in unending pain. Fortunately in spite of their certainty about their position, the final judgment on me is NOT theirs to make. Should I judge them?

Nice imo, ya. I prolly should have said long time ago that i still hold out a hope of DMA myself, and i have no objections to the belief at all! It is when it is made into the primary thing and a requirement for membership in a club that i object, and that only herenow. Irl i just use my feet :)

Trinity makes a really handy vehicle to go up to heaven after one has died, is what i think it is--bc we can read that Jesus supposedly did--but unfortunately we lose Immanuel in the process? And end up Standing around looking up, and waiting for Jesus. Arg. Obviously that nation will not inherit the kingdom, and we could fill the page with the abundant clues, borders decreasing, building siege walls, etc

It's not always as easy to make oneself understood in writing on forums as it is in face to face conversation.

I was invited here..but before I came here I first joined CF a couple of years ago in search of fellowship. I was in a poor state spiritually and the forum helped me grow through people I met such as @Hidden In Him and others...I like this forum the most but I am not growing in my calling as much as I used to. I find myself growing weary of the debates and the hostility I perceive on some threads.
But for the most part I am blessed by what I can learn from others here.

As in nature the spirit has seasons, growing periods and resting periods, so if you feel you aren't growing at the moment don't worry about it as it is probably a time of consolidation and deepening roots.

You are a true blessing to this forum. I kind of look up to you as a mentor. Your humble spirit is so refreshing and your words of wisdom plant good seed in my life.

i am interested to hear why you have decided to post here. Some have been clear about why they have decided to contribute to this board - Bread of Life is here to challenge his perceived misconceptions about the Catholic Church (NOT THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IDIOTS); meanwhile, Helen is here primarily for the fellowship. I am here to clarify my own beliefs in the moment and to have a record of change over time. So, why are you here?

Good thread, Aspen!

Like @Episkopos, I normally spend a lot of time in the word and prayer, so visiting forums breaks things up for me during the day. I once logged on to the various forums primarily to socialize with other Christians, but I've learned that's not always the best motive, LoL. If one doesn't log on with his armor on, he's likely to get stuck in short order unfortunately. So these days I'm a bit more pointed about why I log on and/or post. Usually, I'm looking for responses to a particular line of questioning, but I still can't resist socializing and joking around whenever I get the chance. It's my nature, only I usually have to stick to business, given the contentiousness.

But along with socializing, I'm also called as a teacher, so I will teach whenever opportunity arises. Those who teach learn, so I also study other people's doctrines and theologies and the people themselves whenever I can. I also come to check on friends, see how they are doing, and minister to them, or share something going on in my life that I need to tell them about.

There are other reasons as well, I'm sure, but those are the primaries.

Thanks Pearl, I needed to hear that.

I can see growth(Him) in you, even if it is not apparent to you. It will be apparent when you are out in the world. The down times are needed as well, as it is part of balance.Just have full assurance(faith) that when you go out, you will not walk alone, and He will give you all that you will need.
