Where there is no vision, the people perish. (Prov. 29:18) God has a vision and purpose for us and through that vision or calling we have motivation for that fulfillment. And whether we are called to be a brick layer or minister, its going to require preparation.
When I was saved, God did not have to prepare for that event, because He is a God of preparation. Isa. 6:1, “His going forth is prepared as the morning.” Every morning He prepares Himself for that particular day, and God is showing us to do likewise.
If God is a God of preparation, how much more are we to be like Him? Nothing Jesus ever did was by accident, it was according to His preparation. In fact, it took Him thirty years to be prepared for three and half years of ministry.
The Lord is preparing His people. But there are no shortcuts. Taking one's own way is to transgress, or to cut across. The way of the transgressor is hard. (Prov. 13:15) If a believer tries to take short cuts, he/she will suffer for it by becoming ill prepared.
Peter wrote to “make your calling an election sure.” (2 Peter 1:10) We believers have a call on our lives, and we have to give diligence to make that calling an election sure. We should desire to "finish (our) course with joy to keep the faith".(2 Tim 4)
Therefore, strive to keep from being sidelined, for the Lord's desire is “to bring thee into the place which I have prepared” (Ex. 23:20).
