Galatians 2:20
20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
What does Paul mean "nevertheless I live; yet not I," extraordinary to say the least. What a statement, no where in your bible will you find another statement comparable to this statement. So what is the meaning of such a loaded verse as this; who is the "I" Paul is talking about? Adam, the old man Adam, the old sin nature that came inherently from Adam, dead, crucified with Christ on the cross. Wow what a liberating remark from the Apostle, the old man is dead and gone completely out of the picture.
Someone always wants to know why we sin? Why do people fall away, how come good people can do evil. Your mind, for the born again any way. It is a mental trait of the old way of doing things. Residue if you will, of the sin nature, Adam and all his mess. It's not your nature, you have the nature of God in you by Christ if your born again. Simple right, well not really because we are flesh and blood. Your flesh will always have an affinity for sin, it's just simple math. Paul used another term "but I thank God through Jesus Christ." Yes that's right there is your answer, your hope is in Jesus Christ. No other name that is named can set the captive free.
How does He do that, He does/did that by killing Adam. What did Paul say "I'm determined to know nothing but Christ crucified." Wonder why? It is where every ill of mankind is handled. No matter the situation, the cross is the answer for humanity, saint or sinner. That blood that was shed on calvary is more powerful today, yesterday, and forever. We have to know, it does not matter if you know the day rapture will take place and dont know about the power of the cross, your calculations are in vain. You can know the hour the anti-christ takes over and rules the world and don't understand Adams death on the cross, your doctrine is in vain.
Galatians 2:20 will be the answer for a lost world, saint or sinner through out eternity. It will never lose it's power. Your strength will fail, your vision will grow dim, your ministry will give in, but the cross did not fail. Some say we need a new bible to keep up with the times, and a few have succeeded in printing their own, but the cross did not fail. You have to see the cross before it can be preached. That was you on that tree, all in Adam, dead as Christ. For some reason we can not preach it like it is written.
