Acts 4:2 Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

Peter and John were preaching Jesus and faith in him unto eternal life (John 20:31). They were preaching his resurrection, and how that would ensure the resurrection of believers, and the coming Davidic kingdom on earth promised to the nation of Israel (Luke 12:32). There is, however, no mention here of the cross of Christ Jesus; no mention of Jesus's sacrificial death, no mention of Jesus being delivered for our offences and raised for our justification. It is the gospel of the kingdom plus the resurrection of Christ, which is the gospel of the Circumcision, being preached (Galatians 2:7).

4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

Peter is preaching the gospel of the Circumcision and the assurance of the coming Kingdom through Christ's resurrection. He is still preaching faith in the name of Jesus, that Jesus is the Son of God and the Christ. Israel had to believe on Jesus to have eternal life; it was then required that they confess him (Matthew 10:32 Romans 10:9), be baptized (Mark 16:16), and keep the statutes to enter the coming earthly Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 5:20 Matthew 5:18 Ezekiel 36:27).

4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Naming Jesus as the Christ, the Son of God was required for Jews to have eternal life. Salvation was by the name of Jesus at that time. Although verse 12 is to the Jews, it is also for us. We can also acknowledge that it is only by Jesus Christ that we have eternal life. It is through faith in Christ Jesus alone and his complete provision for our forgiveness, justification, and righteousness unto eternal life.

A lot of clear verses there, which give no room for doubt.

What they say is indeed clear, as you indicated.
Hello
I am glad that there are those that allow the Bible to simply say what it says. There are far greater riches in this.

Of course, Jesus' introduction to Israel was by John the Baptist, "Look! The Lamb of God, Who takes away the sin of the world!" They'd know what that meant, I imagine.

Much love!

Hello
Peter and John were preaching in Acts 3. Peter was saying that it was the name of Jesus and faith in that name that healed the lame man; Acts 4 is a continuation. Peter was preaching the coming of Jesus to fulfill the new testament.
John the Baptist did manifest Christ to Israel (John 1:31) but whether they would know what John meant, maybe, but when Jesus spoke of his death and resurrection the twelve did not understand it and it was hid from them.
In fact, if the people did understand what Jesus would accomplish by the cross they would not have crucified him (1 Corinthians 2:8).

I understand what you are saying. But after His resurrection, and to the common people who had believed John, I wouldn't be sure about separating Jesus' resurrection from His sacrifice on the cross.

Much love!

Hello
Right but Peter did write of the cross (1 Peter 2:24) but it was for the new testament which was only promised to Israel.
Of course Paul wrote of the cross and the blood.

Addressing the OP only, an error,
Peter is preaching the gospel of the Circumcision and the assurance of the coming Kingdom through Christ's resurrection.
no, he's preaching the same gospel "TO" the circumcise. there is no such gospel called the "gospel of the circumcision". the only Godpel is the gospel of Jesus the Christ.

we suggest you read Gill's commentary on this verse.

PICJAG.

ps the scripture, Galatians 2:7

Hello
I read Gill's as suggested and did not change my mind. If both Peter and Paul were preaching the same gospel why would Paul have to go to Jerusalem and communicate "that gospel" he was preaching. If it was the same gospel then what was he communicating? Would they not already know it?

Galatians 2:7 does not say the gospel "TO" is says "OF".

Interesting discussion but you are wrong at the elementary level. The discussion is entitled NONE OTHER NAME, first you have to get the name right. There is power in the names of the Gods. (That is a different topic.) As the Apostle Paul said there is only one name that can be called upon to be saved. The J does not appear in any of the biblical languages. The sound of the letter "ja" or "ge" does not occur either. (another topic) There were several languages in the area, but the pronunciation of the names of people, roads, cities, and rivers remained the same in the languages, as a matter of reference. The letter J came out around 1400 years after Christ's crucifixion and was not in common use until 1600 years after the crucifixion.

"Someone.....or group" decided to replace all the Y's with J's. This constituted around 40,000 alterations to the scriptures and removed the names of the God's from the Old and New Testament. The Jews laugh at us because we cannot even pronounce Jerusalem, its Yerusalem...in the English. Now why they did this is hotly debated. Either way it would be good to know the name of the Messiah, because there is power in His true name but Jesus or George will not due. Now how this affects those that don't know His name is in question. This is not a hard thing to look up and I do not know why people have not figured it out.

On the topic of the significance of His name as opposed to His sacrificial death...the Apostle Paul explained that in detail. His sacrificial death setup the conditions (atonement) whereby He could offer salvation. Calling upon and believing on the true name of the Son of God has the power to save. The Cross was not that popular with the Apostles...for obvious reasons. If you had a close friend that was unjustly executed by the electric chair, you probably would not wear a medallion of that around your neck.

The Apostle Paul preached a different Gospel in so as that it was more detailed and was adjusted for the Pagans...the people that we like to call
Gentiles. This is why Paul and the other Apostles were at odds with each other and it was the topic of the first Christian council. The leader of the Apostles...at the time...the Apostle James did not agree but gave concessions to the "Gentiles" but most of the other Apostles retained the Jewish-Christians beliefs. Within a few years 98% of Christians were Gentiles and the Jewish-Christians died out. The reason they died out are many, but mostly because they wanted to mingle Jewish beliefs with Christian beliefs. Christ warned of this when He said, "You cannot put new wine in old wine skins."

So I will let you chew on that for awhile.
