"They take everything."

While shopping for groceries today, I needed some assistance in the fruits/veggies section. No one was on the floor, so I walked to the back room in search of an employee. A man in broken English asked what I wanted. I told him and he escorted me to the sweet oranges.

I asked him where he was from to which he replied, "Venezuela". Wow, I said, you really escaped a mess there, didn't you? He said he came here on political grounds and that his wife and children are still there and expected to be with him in two years.

The line of work he did in his country was life insurance, his own business, which was entirely taken from him when Venezuela became socialist. "They take everything," he said, "I had to flee."

I was floored by that information and said we should pray. I laid my hand on his shoulder, and in a four sentence prayer asked for the Lord's intervention and safety for his family.

The man was realizing a presence that had visited in that moment and was near tears. I shall follow up as I revisit. I didn't want to cause him to lose his job.

That's socialism for sure. Ultimately, they resort to violent oppression. It is then that it has crossed over to communism--and that is happening today, in Venezuela, under the Marxist, Maduro. Lenin said that "...the goal of socialism, is communism" and that the "ends justify the means"--which we know, as Christians, to be a lie right out of the pit of hell. Radical leftists seem to be able to justify any kind of cruelty to get their way, "by any means necessary". Some Californian politicians have begun using that phrase. Chilling.

When the communists (they called themselves Bolsheviks) took over Russia, they performed obscene atrocities on anyone who opposed their barbarism. The tales which finally have been told by the descendants of those tortured and martyred under Bolshevism, make the atrocities of ISIS pale by comparison. The communists of Soviet Russia buried those stories--for obvious reasons. It was only after communism fell, that those accounts began to be told.

What a lovely testimony , so glad that you shared it. Bless you.

Now we can all pray for you as you minister to this man.
How wise to do it as discretely as you did, so he didn't lose his job.

Bless you brother.
( every time I see your avatar I feel like I have seen you before.
Or maybe you just looks very like someone I know...except I can't remember who it is I know, that looks like you!! . :D )

A pastor friend once told me that it only happens with Christians and his theory is that those people who look so familiar will be our neighbors in heaven. I see nothing in Scripture that would cover this theory but isn't it a nice thought? ;)

Thanks for the input, Lady. I graduated with a BA in literature, owned a bookstore for some time, and wrote for five newspapers. I love words, and have completed the reading of several books by Solzhenitsyn. His description of Stalinist communism in his book Gulag Archipelago is very revealing. I was reading that book in my apartment while on a semester break during the summer when I received a knock on the door. Upon opening, I was met by two FBI agents and a police officer who wanted to talk to me. So many times I have written of this experience, I'll shorten the story by saying simply that I was taken to the police station where I was finger printed and my picture taken because I fit the description of a man who raped and murdered a woman thirty miles south of my apartment. Talk about a book coming to life! The details of that incident, I may share again sometime. It was harrowing.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Stalin said, "Show me the man and I'll show you the crime." The communists would often fabricate crimes against those who they wanted to eliminate. Solzhenitsyn gave a famous speech (at Harvard, I think) where he warned that communist oppression would come to the U.S. because the younger generations had thrown off the grace of God when they rejected Christ. We tend to think that violent oppression "can't happen here because of our Constitutional guarantees" but, man-made law can be eliminated and our freedom from oppression with it.

I read A.S.'s Harvard address many times and have cited from it in articles I've written in the past. It is one of the most profoundly accurate statements on the condition of our country. I recall him making the statement that the spiritual quality of his people was much deeper due to the suffering they've had to endure, while our Western preference for ease and entertainment has turned us into weaklings. He is one man I would liked to have known personally.

Communism ~

One Goal~
Absolute Control:
BY a FEW, OVER The WORLD.

It doesn't matter the numerous METHODS "The FEW" use to Foster "THEIR" Goal...

It doesn't matter how many times "THEY" Change, the "NAME" of "THEIR" "GROUP"...

"THEIR" Objective Goal...Remains Constant...
Absolute Control:
BY A FEW, OVER the WORLD...
BY ANY MEANS!

And while Americans sit in Observation and Judgement of what Is occurring In Foreign Nations....They are Oblivious....
To THE Number OF Communists SEATED in the US Congress and Senate!

Glory To God...
Creator, Maker, Taker, Final Authority King and Ruler of This World!

Tennyson in the 19th century referred to politicians as those who practise '....lies and lies and lies and lies...'
