You keep repeating the same verse which conveys Jesus' tenderness toward His mother and expecting it to become words of impatience or irritation. Not going to happen :)

There are some very interesting points about that wedding that you may want to consider and if you like, look a little deeper.
1. It is the only wedding in the New Testament.
2. Christ and the Apostles went out of their way to go there.
3. It involve more than one day.
4. Christ's mother was there.
5. Her request is more or less a request for supplies for the festivities....wine.
6. It appears to be important to Christ also, because He steps out of that veil of secrecy to publicly make that wine.
7. The wine Christ made was not just wine, but very good wine.
8. The compliment Christ gets seems to imply that it is His planning...like He is connected to the wedding.
9. Christ's Mother seems to have a vested interest in this wedding. Enough to ask for a miracle.
10. This occurs after Joseph has disappeared from the scriptures...so he has probably passed on.
Now the question is; Is there a way we can figure out who's wedding this is? Good luck.

I simply have to go with the bride or the groom being one of Jesus siblings. Yes, I believe he had sibs.
Mary was already there, as were Jesus brothers so... a family thing? Before Jesus got there, Mary was obviously concerned about the wine running out so, it seems she was somehow running things? She had clout because she told the men to just listen to her Son.
Jesus has some kind of connection to Cana. The disciple Nathaniel is from Cana. I read (speculation only here) that it could have been one of Nathaniel's sons or daughters marrying one of Jesus siblings. It is a place where Jesus ran to when he needed to be safe after riling up some Pharisees :D - John 4:46. Why would He go there? There had to be someone there He was connected to, someone close to Him who would hide Him, so to speak?
Not that I think this is important to know but, it is curiously interesting as it seems that all we really know about the wedding at Cana is that Mary seemed to be MCing, there were probably family connections and Jesus turned water into wine, lol. I wonder what the main course was?? :D

P.S. Oh yes, the typical Jewish wedding of Jesus day lasted 5 to 7 days. Wow...that's allot of wine!

There's a huge difference between gentle correction and cold, stern, insulting chastising, is there not?

Jesus gently corrected His mother for trying to compel Him to assume His role as Deliverer when His mission at present was to journey to Calvary.

To All,

SOME signs of sociophatic behavior include:
  • Unreliability
  • Untruthfulness and insincerity
  • Lack of remorse and shame
It's surprising how many people have characteristics typical of sociopathic behavior. Certainly the Sadducees & Pharisees demonstrated those characteristics when they decided to murder the Savior of the world. They prompted the crowds to shout "Crucify HIM", and had no remorse. And people in this forum misrepresent Scripture and have no remorse.

Surprisingly, when Judah betrayed Jesus his remorse was so great he hung himself.

So given those who have no remorse; versus Judah who had so much remorse, -- one should consider the penalty for those without ANY remorse.

Matt 27
1 When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death; 2 and they bound him and led him away and delivered him to Pilate the governor.
3 When Judas, his betrayer, saw that he was condemned, he repented and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders, 4 saying, “I have sinned in betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? See to it yourself.” 5 And throwing down the pieces of silver in the temple, he departed; and he went and hanged himself.

Been feeling a lot of anxiety lately, especially today.
It is funny you say that J.P. I myself have been the same way and...especially today too! I was just asking God to forgive me (yet again) for my attitude today. It was only a mood, nothing that anyone at Church, nor my sister or brother that went with me this morning would notice. Just an urgency or restlessness, even feeling somewhat not so much short tempered but. Just want to be alone today and, do not want to answer the phone. I was also just asking Him for a "visitation", lol...Hmmm. I hope you and I feel uplifted soon...pray for me and I will for you. I will pray for you even if you do not pray for me, lol...not like a trade or anything :D
PS
Oh yes, and prayer for His peace will be coming soon :)

At times like this when I get anxiety and start to worry to the point where I get an ache in my chest, I take a deep breath and ask the Lord to help get me through, it makes me feel better knowing that he is there watching me, Jesus Christ our Savior has always been there for me.

You are making a very dangerous statement. The most reliable and truthful Person that ever lived was and is Jesus Christ.

First of all, Mary knew Who Jesus was. She was his 'mother' in that she was the vessel used to carry and bear the God/Man. She was His mother in that the seed of David was used to create the flesh of the God/Man. (Rom. 1:3)

Mary was not Jesus's mother in that His origin began from her. He was always God the Son Who has existed with God the Father and Holy Ghost from all eternity. So His relationships on earth would always be in light of that. He was not a mama's boy, nor was he a daddy's boy. No matter what age physically He was, He was God the Son. And that, above all things, created His relationship with others.

Second of all, the only record of Jesus as a youth bear this out. (Luke 2:41-50) At 12 years of age Jesus separated from his parents and was in the temple discussing theology with the leaders in the temple. His parents were worried sick over where He was. When they found Him they scolded Him for His lack of concern over their worry. He said to them, (49), "...How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business." In fact it would be Mary and Joseph who were out of line in scolding Him Who was busy about His Father's business.

The same is true with the verse you gave, (John 2:3). Mary encroached again upon Jesus before His public ministry was to begin. Again, Mary knew Who Jesus was. And she was asking for a miracle, for something to be done. As the God/Man, Jesus is letting her know, she does not dictate when His ministry begins. "...Woman what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come?" As to the God/Man Jesus had no mother. Mary was but another woman. And He would and could rightfully speak to her as such. As He did other women.

As I said, your accusation against the Person of Christ is wrong and misguided.

A complete perversion of the relationship between Jesus and His Mother.

Jesus was BOTH Man and God. He was NOT God “sometimes” and Man “sometimes”. He was FULLY God and FULLY Man. This is the doctrine of His Hypostatic Union. Mary was the Mother of Jesus – period. Not just Jesus the Man.

As to Jesus always being God – He was. HOWEVER, He didn’t always possess ALL of His Godly wisdom and faculties. That grew with age.
After they found Him in the Temple, the Gospel tells us:

Luke 2:51-52
Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart. And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.

Now - back to Mary . . .
In John’s Gospel – Jesus never refers to her as “Mother”. He ALWAYS refers to her as “Woman” – which is the highest form of respect that He could give her. We read about the prophecy of the “Woman” whose offspring would crush the head of the serpent (Gen. 3:15). Jesus refers to her as “Woman” while He is on the cross, crushing the head of the serpent.

Thus Protestant obsession with trying to denigrate Mary and write her off as nothing but a “vessel” or “surrogate” for Him to enter the world goes against Scripture which calls her “Kecharitomene” (Luke 1:28). This Greek term is defined as “one who has been perfectly and completely endowed with grace” and signifies a completed act with a permanent result.

Nobody else in ALL of Scripture is given this title . . .

Go away. You miss the point completely due to your constant defense of Romanism. You care nothing for God or Christ. You only care that the Roman Church is somehow defended.

Waste your time somewhere else. I've wasted enough with you already.

@JohnPaul

Concerning the original topic of this thread, there has been a perfect example of what we were talking about. In Alabama a 15 year old boy, on his first day of work as a roofer, fell 40 to 50 feet to his death. He was wearing no safety harness and neither were any of the other workers up there.

Of course now the foreman says he had a safety line installed up there and he gives out harnesses every morning to the men but most don't wear them.

The boy was from Guatemala I believe. And so probably all the other workers were also. And if the seasoned workers don't uses safety harnesses, what is a new boy going to do on his first day on the job.

All those people are guilty of that boy's death. The Company should make sure people wear their safety equipment. The foreman should make sure they wear their safety equipment. The workers should make sure that they wear the equipment. It's all a big joke to people...till someone dies. Then, as I said before, they are circling the wagons. Trying to pass the buck to someone else.

I think this company better get ready to write a big check. I wonder if they will still be in business. This is what happens when no one says anything.

@Stranger, exactly I worked for a chemical company before and they had a safety manager, and you’d better be wearing your safety equipment.

Sounds like the company is lying and was taking advantage of the South American workers, 15 years old, that’s not even legal working age.

So many things wrong with this incident. His age and on a high roof? Stepping on a piece of insulation that was over the hole he fell through? All are violations according to OSHA.

The workers, the foreman, the leaders of the company are all right now trying to cover their ass. I know exactly what happened. Safety on construction sites, cost time and money. Big companies put forth the facade that they are safety conscience, but they don't try and enforce it. The peer pressure to produce is great, else you lose your job. As a foreman you look good coming in under the time schedule. Safety is just a hindrance...till someone dies. Then they all want to act like they always had the safety of their workers in mind.

As I said, I am sure the heads of this company and the foreman will all be at the funeral crying big tears. What a sham.
